Chapter 233: The Anchor Generator repaired

The next morning, Rover opened his eyes in a quiet room.

Soft light from the dome outside filtered through the window frame, falling onto the clean wooden floor and stretching into a faint bright strip beside the bed. The air in the room carried the scent of wood, a very faint lingering trace of lake water, and a blended fragrance from the women sleeping around him.

Rover lay still for a few seconds.

Then he looked to the side.

Nanoe was closest to him, her hair slightly disheveled falling over her shoulder, her gentle sleeping face entirely different from her usual composed and sharp demeanor. Selina had curled up on one side like a satisfied cat, one arm still draped across him. Sunako lay on her side a little further away, her face still slightly flushed even in sleep, as if even in dreams she remembered what happened last night. Rilia had her back turned toward him, her silver hair falling down her back, her posture still trying to maintain some propriety even while asleep. Elith lay very quietly, breathing even, but a few thin strands of silk still unconsciously clung to her fingertips.

Rover looked at the scene. His mind was filled with nothing but chaos.

Last night had only been intended as a brief rest.

The result was that things had gone much further than he had imagined.

He raised a hand to rub the space between his brows, then breathed out a sigh.

"Really..."

He didn’t finish the sentence.

Didn’t need to either.

After all, no one in this room had truly been forced into anything. They were all already his women, and after the consecutive days of fighting, tension, and facing secrets far beyond comprehension, last night’s release was like a way for all of them to temporarily pull themselves back to the feeling of being alive.

Rover carefully lifted Selina’s arm away.

Selina stirred slightly, her eyelids fluttering, but didn’t wake. She only pulled the blanket up a little and went back to sleep.

Rover got up and put on his clothes.

He looked back at the room once more.

Then quietly walked out.

The wooden house was even quieter in the morning than last night. No monster sounds, no fog, no strange noises from the metal hall. Only the faint sound of water flowing from the small river outside and a light wind sweeping over the meadow.

Rover went down to the first floor, then walked straight to the door leading to the basement.

The narrow staircase was still there.

The thin lines of light on the walls were still quietly glowing, illuminating each step. Rover went down and quickly returned to the small technical room beneath the house.

In the center of the basement, the Anchor Generator still lay in place on the floor.

The metal platform, roughly three meters wide, its surface covered with strange symbols resembling writing and magic arrays. The fine cracks on the surface still occasionally flickered with faint light, like an old heart trying to beat a few last times.

Rover stood before the device.

One million Omni Points.

He had enough.

Before leaving room 2705, after upgrading the Intermediate Fog Lanterns, he had still had over one million five hundred thousand Omni Points. The repair cost for the Anchor Generator was very high, nearly enough to make any Survivor despair, but for Rover right now, it wasn’t a number he couldn’t accept.

More importantly, this was worth it.

He didn’t just want to repair it to create anchor points for displacement.

He also needed to secure the coordinates of this place.

This manor inside the spaceship was far too special. The lake, the clean air, the soil, the fruit trees, the large house, the locked rooms, the memory drive reader, and the secrets connected to Professor Harlan, the Unnamed Explorer, his father, and the thing called the prison.

Rover had a feeling this place would be extremely important to him.

Not now.

But later.

If relying only on the route through the freight depot warehouse, he wasn’t at ease. That entrance was too passive, located outside the apartment complex, in a fog and monster area that could change at any time. If one day the warehouse disappeared, the door locked, or the space below was taken over by something, they might very well lose track of this place.

But if the Anchor Generator was repaired, at least Rover would have another way to anchor the manor’s coordinates.

He placed his hand on the metal platform.

The familiar information panel appeared.

....

[Damaged Anchor Generator]

[Status: Severely damaged]

[Repair requirement: 1,000,000 Omni Points.]

[Proceed with repairs?]

....

Rover looked at the last line.

He didn’t hesitate for long.

"Yes."

The moment he made the choice, Omni Points in the information panel were immediately deducted by a large amount.

One million points vanished.

At the same time, the metal platform before him suddenly shook.

The faint symbols on the surface lit up one by one. At first only a few scattered points of light, then more and more. Light ran along the broken veining, like water trying to fill a dry riverbed. The small cracks on the platform’s surface gradually closed. Each warped piece of metal adjusted its position, producing very faint sounds.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Rover stood to the side and observed the entire process.

No hammering needed, no dismantling, no additional materials.

Omni Points directly replaced all of it.

It resembled a kind of authority operating above the normal mechanisms of items. As long as there were enough Omni Points, damaged things would be repaired, missing things would be compensated, incomplete structures would regenerate on their own.

Watching that scene, Rover again felt a chill at his back.

This feeling was far too abnormal.

But he quickly suppressed that thought.

Right now, knowing too much wasn’t a good thing.

A few minutes later, the light on the Anchor Generator gradually stabilized.

The strange symbols on the platform surface no longer flickered, but began slowly rotating according to a set pattern. A thin ring of light appeared around the platform’s edge, covering the entire three-meter area.

A new information panel appeared.

....

[Anchor Generator]

[Type: Special item]

[Status: Repaired]

[Function 1: Creates anchor points based on the memories of the person standing within the operational range.]

[Function 2: Displaces an individual or small group to the chosen anchor point.]

[Function 3: When enough energy is consumed, can displace the linked area to the chosen anchor point.]

[Note: Consumption levels vary by distance, number of targets, and scale of the area to be displaced.]

....

Rover looked at the information panel.

Then he stepped up onto the platform.

The ring of light beneath his feet vibrated slightly.

A strange sensation swept through Rover’s body, not painful, not cold, only like a stream of light passing through his memories. Many images surfaced in his mind.

Room 2705.

The apartment complex corridor.

The ground floor lobby.

The supermarket area.

The freight depot.

The fog route.

The manor inside the spaceship.

A series of faint points of light appeared on the information panel.

Rover focused on room 2705.

....

[Create anchor point: Room 2705?]

....

Rover narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Yes."

The ring of light beneath his feet shook once more.

Then a small point of light appeared on the Anchor Generator’s control panel.

....

[Anchor point created: Room 2705.]

....

Rover breathed out.

That was done.

At least from now on, he had a way to return to the apartment complex without going through the freight depot.

Right at this moment, the sound of very light footsteps came from above.

Rover turned his head.

Nanoe appeared at the basement entrance, already wearing her usual clothes. Her hair was still slightly disheveled, but her gaze was completely alert. Behind her was Selina lazily yawning, Sunako walking while adjusting her collar, Rilia with her usual calm expression as if nothing had happened, and Elith as quietly reserved as always.

Sunako looked at Rover standing on the metal platform and blinked.

"Great Lord Rover, you already started working this early in the morning?"

Rover stepped off the platform.

"Didn’t you say to stay here for a few days to study the place?"

Sunako immediately nodded very seriously. "That’s right. I strongly support this hardworking spirit."

Selina glanced at her. "Just now you didn’t want to get out of bed."

Sunako flushed. "That was because yesterday was a bit tiring."

Rilia quietly cleared her throat.

Elith looked away.

Nanoe looked at Rover, the corner of her lips curving slightly, but she didn’t tease him. Her gaze quickly fell to the now-stably-glowing Anchor Generator.

"Finished?"

Rover nodded.

"Repaired."

Nanoe was slightly taken aback.

She knew Rover’s class was very special, and had already mentally prepared to stay a few days to let him try repairing this device. She hadn’t expected that by the next morning, he had already finished.

Of course, she didn’t ask why it was so fast.

She only looked at him for a moment then said softly: "Very good."

Rover looked at her.

Nanoe understood his meaning and immediately shifted to the main point. "Can it be used yet?"

"Yes." Rover said. "I created an anchor point at room 2705. We can go straight back to the apartment complex without needing to return through the freight depot."

Sunako’s eyes immediately lit up.

"So we don’t need to go through that fog-covered road?"

"Mm."

Sunako immediately breathed a very relieved sigh. "As expected, staying here one night was an extremely wise decision."

Selina laughed softly. "You’re only happy because you don’t have to walk."

Sunako answered very naturally: "Conserving stamina is also part of strategy."

Rover didn’t say more.

He activated the Anchor Generator.

The ring of light on the platform’s surface expanded slightly, enveloping the whole group. The strange symbols around the platform’s edge lit up, then the surrounding space began to vibrate very gently.

Different from the feeling of passing through [Mirror], this displacement was far more stable.

No feeling of falling.

No feeling of being pulled into a glass surface.

Only light covering the field of view.

A second later, the scene before everyone changed.

The metal basement vanished.

In its place was the familiar room 2705.

The room’s space was still spacious. All the defensive structures and important items were in their original positions. After spending one night in the spaceship manor, seeing this room again, Sunako felt a mixture of familiarity and strangeness.

"We’re really back..."

Her voice carried a touch of astonishment.

Selina looked around, then said with a smile: "Much more convenient."

Rilia also gently nodded.

Though she didn’t say it aloud, she understood how significant the Anchor Generator’s value was. With this thing, room 2705 didn’t just have an additional retreat route, but could also stay connected to a special area that outsiders could almost never discover.

Nanoe immediately walked toward the storage area where the fog lanterns were.

"Collect the lanterns first."

Rover looked at her.

Nanoe said: "The lanterns were used for an entire outing and need energy replenishment. The next time we go out, we can’t have them at half capacity."

Rover nodded.

He also intended to upgrade them for the convenience of the next outing. The Intermediate Fog Lanterns had proven enormous value. If they could continue to be upgraded, the safe range, operating duration, and warning capability would certainly be far stronger.

But today he had just repaired the Anchor Generator.

One million Omni Points had vanished.

If he immediately upgraded the lanterns right in front of everyone now, his class would be revealing far too many capabilities far too quickly.

He didn’t want that.

Even if Nanoe could help him conceal it, even if everyone here was his people, Rover still didn’t want to establish a habit of "anything can be repaired immediately, upgraded immediately." Once a secret was treated as something obvious, it would no longer be a secret.

So he only said: "Replenish energy first. Upgrades come later."

Nanoe looked at him once.

Then gently nodded.

"Alright."
