Chapter 233: Petals of Doom!

Lights zipped into streaks as reality blurred. Seth burst through space, folding through the path, distance rendered null before his very presence.

Lingering mists of shadows drifted from his onyx armor—a Leader-grade armor he had equipped after dispelling the Executioner’s set.

His blades sliced through the air as Seth’s sight zoomed in on his prey. Within a blink, he was in the air upon the Treant, both blades racing down.

Seth stared into the eyes of the Treant, and the Treant stared back. Seth’s haunting gaze was so intense it was almost as though he could pierce through the veil of the ethereal and stare directly at Vamel’s soul.

Vamel’s green pupils trembled, but that didn’t stop him from taking action. His leather belt lit up with a pristine glow that coated his frame, letting him bolt out of reach.

Diving through the air, the Treant planned to capitalize on the only advantage he had over his opponent: flight.

The paired descent of Seth’s daggers barely scraped against the skin of the Treant as he whisked into the distance.

Seth’s Will couldn’t hold for much longer. As he sank through the air, relaxing his grip on reality, his essence boiled blue. The Force Embodiment gene skill bore down on his body, remolding his essence streams.

His aura became more tumultuous, almost like a wave.

BOOOOM!

He landed onto the earth. With his foe so far away, sinking into the shadows bore little weight in this battle.

His calves clenched, his weight bearing on the earth, causing it to crack and cave. The pulse of blue mounted in stacks as his body compressed like a spring.

At this very moment, Seth embodied the very concept of the Tide Force.

The crater of the paved earth burst greater as his frame catapulted into the distance with a brilliant streak of blue.

His daggers spun in the wind as he gathered for a strike. Space folded in his path, allowing him to cover distances normally not possible with his current speed.

In no time, he caught up to Vamel’s glowing frame. The Treant sensed the incoming danger, a wave of green bleeding from his empty grasp.

Seth’s heart skipped a beat as his vision caught sight of a flower bud blooming in the Treant’s palms.

"Finally utilizing a gene skill," Seth muttered. A pendant gleamed from his neck as the wind caused it to sway.

The Spectre Flame Gaze Pendant burst alive with a lively animated blink. A pupil pendant locked on Vamel...

All Seeing Radiance!

A wave of light burst out, swallowing Vamel’s frame as the Treant felt the unnerving violation of the scan.

All his details were relayed to Seth in that instant. As expected, all his stats were maxed at 999. That explained the extreme cost in Will each time he utilized Chronostasis.

The Treant’s Will carried more weight, costing Seth ten times more each time his attacks were mired in the temporal swamp of time.

Then there were his gene skills—four fully functional slots, all of Noble grade.

Seth’s eyes flashed, and instantly he got the information he needed about the gene skill being activated.

His eyes widened, and his scalp went numb. "Retreat," he hissed that very instant, forcing himself into a U-turn.

"Tsk! Where the fuck do you think you’re going!" Vamel barked. Commanding his item, he bolted downwards, hot on Seth’s heels.

Seth’s brows creased, feeling the shadow of his opponent shooting right after him.

The closed petals of the flower budding in the Treant’s hand glowed with a sinister shade of sanguine.

A Noble-grade gene skill: Petals of Doom.

A severely restricted ability due to its grade. From what Seth could tell, if not for the specified usage limit, he wouldn’t be surprised if the gene skill was Royal grade or even higher.

It could be used once a day. It allowed its host to call upon a vile plant life form dwelling in their body—the Weeping Lotus.

A cursed plant of the vilest kind. Within its closed pearl lay the Eye of Nether. Whoever was cast within its gaze would suffer an instant 70% drain in vitality.

This wasn’t a joke. This was real.

Even if Seth had known about this ability earlier, he still wouldn’t have been able to do anything against it.

This wasn’t a skill that followed logic. It didn’t care about grades. As long as you were of the same rank, you would suffer the same under its gaze.

The scene flipped, with Seth bolting for his life and the Treant in hot pursuit. As the petals slowly parted, wearing a wicked smile, the Treant pressed his palm toward Seth’s direction.

This was his only attack-focused gene skill, and Vamel had to make it count.

He still didn’t hold hopes of defeating Seth, but regardless, inflicting such heavy damage on Seth would be beneficial to his cause nonetheless.

A weaker Seth meant a greater chance at survival.

As the Treant’s palm pressed forward, the bud in his grasp coiled tighter, its crimson light seething through the cracks of its petals.

For a split moment, the scene crawled to a halt, the wind going still in that instant, almost as though reality held its breath.

And then, with a hiss like steam escaping, the petals peeled apart.

From the sinful blossom emerged a glaring orb—an eye like a darkened pearl, swirling with malevolent intent as faint echoes of infants weeping rang faintly in the background.

It blinked once, and in that instant Seth felt a chill wash over his frame. His skin stung as a premonition took root.

Like the burst of a volcano, a seething current of crimson welled from the depths of the cursed gaze, bursting out into an unavoidable beam of light blasted toward Seth.

The corrosive light burned through space like fuel on foam, peeling the very layer of reality apart. Seth could smell the pungent stench of the nether.

But he calmed his heart. He couldn’t escape... or so his opponent thought.

A glyph stirred awake. Still weak, the Glyph Dragon couldn’t do much, but it could still provide its host access to the ability Shadow Curtain.

As for whether the ability could work against a curse—frankly, Seth didn’t care at the moment. He couldn’t process that much information within such a short timeframe.

His essence streamed into the glyph, activating Shadow Curtain.

Seth’s heart raced as the cold embrace of darkness shielded his frame. In that same instant, the beam collided, swallowing his frame whole.
