Chapter 230: Might of a Juggernaut

Essence swirled in the air as both parties readied themselves...

Uriel’s grip over his spear tightened, deadly charges sparking as the tip of the spear glowed blue.

His eyes locked on his opponent. He calculated both their distance and location, and he smiled imperceptibly.

His short brown hair fluttered in the wind. He arranged his stance, readying a charge.

Opposite him, still recovering from the pain of losing another piece of herself, Shaine cocked her arrow, lining her sight with her prey.

At this point, she threw her all into this strike. Energy that once powered all five constructs now fueled a single attack.

Her eyes pulsed red, the bow stretched taut, and the arrow glinted with a deadly gleam. She wielded the Arcane Archer class.

Striking her foe down was an everyday task. Her mind cleared, focusing her every being into this strike. Her eyes locked on her prey as she calculated all possible maneuvers he could possibly pull.

The wind howled as their surroundings calmed. Uriel took a deep breath as his muscles clenched, ready for action. An astral path pulsed beneath his feet.

At that very same second, Shaine relaxed her grip, her fingers loosening and letting the death dealer fly.

A streak of black tore through space as Uriel activated the ability Astral Charge, his frame barreling forth at mind-boggling speed.

Wind whipped around his frame. The streak of black drew close at a blinding speed, and it didn’t help that Uriel himself seemed to be rushing in its direction.

Just when both flashes of light were about to collide, Uriel’s frame, outlined by an arcane glow, warped and vanished, leaving the arrow to streak right through an afterimage.

His Will tugged on the Rewind ability. His eyes flashed ruthlessly, and suddenly his frame appeared behind Shaine.

Wielding all that momentum, he channeled his all through the spear—and Shaine didn’t even see it coming.

Puchi! With a swift strike, the spearhead tore its way out of her chest, a furious violent charge of Sky Ruler’s essence rampaging through her system.

A shrill scream rang through the air as Uriel lifted her frame in a single bound, her mass convulsing helplessly as her consciousness slowly faded.

The lightning charge built until what was left of her frame burst into an explosion of items and essence crystals.

Spear still raised high, Uriel’s chest heaved, his hair now a scattered mess. Thick clouds of breath gathered with each exhale. Finally at rest, he registered his victory.

To think even after being severely handicapped, this Treant race genius still posed so much of a threat.

Only now was it clear what level of danger they had narrowly escaped back during their first encounter.

Turning his gaze to Elaine’s direction, he realized the battle on her end had also come to a conclusion.

She had won.

Confirming this, he collapsed exhausted into the cold embrace of the earth, slowly gathering essence for recovery.

...

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Gani cursed as his frame zipped down a street, the ethereal glow of green trailing his path.

He was sweating bullets at the moment, because he had just realized these guys were nothing like the last time.

He could recall vividly when he half-heartedly dealt with the whole squad—and now?

Roles had switched, and the hunter had become the haunted. Retreating as fast as he could, Gani could feel the loom of his opponent’s presence.

Within the span of seconds of confrontation, Gani’s teammate had his head violently ripped off his shoulders in a gory, bloody exchange.

Their foe wasn’t just overwhelmingly strong—he was methodical and ruthless, delivering every strike with grace and merciless precision.

Each with the clear purpose of bringing demise...

Gani panicked as he felt his foe gaining on him, closing the distance. He didn’t dare let this go on for long.

His hands pulsed as essence formed brown pellets of seeds, which were left to fly in the wind. Arms apart, he released thousands of streaking seeds into the air.

And his opponent Jack ran into the array of pellets. His dark frame sprinted through the haze of seeds, scowling at the uncontrollable situation.

Meanwhile, on the Treant’s end, timing himself for the precise moment, Gani gritted his teeth and snapped his fingers.

With a sharp snap, essence raged and violently erupted.

The seeds pulsed and exploded into a mass of wooden spikes secreting sizzling droplets of green.

Caught within the storm, Jack had no other choice than to tank the damage of the cascading barrage. The wooden spikes rebounded off his now reddened skin.

As a Juggernaut, his durability and damage-dealing ability scaled with his fury. Jack’s hair caught in a current of red as he let out a raging roar.

Raising his bandaged forearms as a shield, he burst through the raining barrage. The Treant didn’t seem to want to relent, spamming handful upon handful of sinister wood-spike seeds.

Jack squinted, his eyes glinting with sinister intent. He had already done a good job of baiting his opponent into a false sense of security, believing that Jack didn’t have any form of long-range attack within his means.

Body brewing with mists of darkness, Jack didn’t call on the might of the Nephilim. Instead, leaping into the sky, his body suddenly erupted with a cascading flow of brilliant light.

He drew his arm back, cocking a punch. A pulse of red built on his fist, his eyes glowing crimson as he charged for attack.

Gani scrambled into the distance, feeling the danger building. He didn’t have the liberty of catching a good look, but he believed as long as he maintained distance, he should be safe.

Cursing beneath his breath and unaware of the imminent danger of death, he focused on escaping, letting out a handful of deadly seeds every few seconds.

Crimson lights bled into the surroundings. High up in the air, Jack’s charging fist glowed like a mini sun, illuminating the dark area of the settlement.

Wind around him stilled, and gravity lost all hold. Everything within distance rose into the air as the currents of essence stacked upon one another.

Muscles bulging red, he let out a battle cry as his fist drew an arc through the sky...

"Radiant Valor!"

The exact moment that chant resounded through the air, the world stilled, everything slowing to a crawl.

Crimson light bled in overwhelming waves, swallowing everything in sight as the flash of a mighty beam tore through buildings and paved streets alike, swallowing its target with an overwhelming current grind.

Gani didn’t even have the chance to let out a scream. His vision swam red, and his consciousness was snuffed out in a fleeting instant.

The beam slowly died down, the intensity of the crimson flare diffusing into the air, but the damage dealt to the terrain remained smoking red.

Before Jack, a deep trench marked the land, one that tore through large sections of both buildings and streets, still molten red and smoking, stretching into the distance.

Jack landed with grace, the essence charge around his frame dimming down. He felt little to no exhaustion. Clenching and unclenching his fists, he marveled at his own might.

The prowess a class provided... Jack couldn’t deny its efficiency.

Plus, his foe wasn’t able to push him to the limit. There was still an ability left to explore.
