Chapter 225: Confrontation

Both Shaine and Vamel didn’t move, but the four behind them—especially Gani, hungry for a chance to redeem his previous humiliation—catapulted forward.

Seth raised his brows. ’Well... that escalated quite fast.’

But even as he had this thought, his eyes tracked the movement of the four Treants. Neither he nor his friends reacted—not because they couldn’t, but because of confidence!

Seth’s Will spoke. A temporal wrap suddenly took hold of reality, causing the four speedily approaching figures to suddenly slow.

The closer they got, the slower they became. Worse? The four Treants felt nothing. In their perception, they were moving just as fast, their essence brewing with a tumultuous savage flow as an aura of green slowly coated their figures.

In essence, they were oblivious. Well, that was natural because they were trapped in Seth’s willborne ability called Chronostasis.

Vamel’s smile disappeared, his pupils constricting as he sensed what was happening. That same instant, he felt the cover of Seth’s Will expanding.

His instincts were sharp, but his reflexes even sharper. Grabbing his partner Shaine by the collar of her thick leather velvet crop jacket, he leaped backward with blitzing speed, avoiding Seth’s reach.

Seth snorted. "Hmph!" A torrent of essence spilled from his frame, causing a burst of wind to sweep the crawling frames of the four Treants, bursting them out of the tavern walls.

His eyes blazed purple. Seth took a step forward, his Will brewing with essence blazing brighter. He wielded no armor, he wielded no weapons.

Meaning Force Embodiment couldn’t activate. So right now, this was Seth in his base form, his aura pulsing with a Tyrian glow, climbing cracks running through the very structure of the tavern.

Outside the tavern, in the distance, standing above the roof of a three‑story grey building, Vamel’s eyes burned brighter. "This... this is definitely the feel of Monarch grade."

At this point, Vamel didn’t even seem to see or care about the streaking silhouettes of his comrades that had crashed out of the tavern and into other buildings.

And despite clearly sensing that figures meant to be prey now radiated an aura that seemed to surpass his own, he still didn’t feel fear—only excitement!

If Seth was at least a peak‑stage Awakened evolver, Vamel might have considered aborting this whole mission.

But from what he could feel, Seth was clearly not there yet, and was still merely at the advanced or high stage at most.

Meaning there was still a chance. Adding this to the fact that Seth and the others had just returned from the trade center, it meant they hadn’t gotten a chance to cultivate their class properly and were likely still at Level 1!

Meaning his chance of success was even higher. The only problem he would have was breaking that time‑based ability Seth seemed to have.

Vamel’s pale grey tongue locked across his lips. He got even more excited thinking about the temporal dilating ability. It made his dual hearts race.

At this point, so deep in greed, he saw everything Seth currently owned as his—and he couldn’t wait to claim it.

Eyes glued to the cracking frame of the tavern, waiting with bated breath for Seth to exit the building.

Strands of thick Verdant aura coiled around his frame, his eyes pulsing. Beside him, Shaine mirrored his stance, eyes locked and aura brewing.

Within the tavern, Seth stopped in his steps as he felt a hand rest on his shoulder. He glanced backward to meet Jack’s gaze.

His taciturn teammate cracked a smile, his deep voice ringing. "Don’t tell me you plan to have this fun all by yourself?"

Seth blinked. Indeed, that was the plan. He needed to nab some powerful class skills after all. Plus, with his strength, there was currently no need for all of them to act.

Uriel stepped forward. "We can handle the others. You focus on the leader."

Seth remained silent for a second, thinking it through, and he realized—indeed, it wouldn’t be fair. His friends also had to level up their class.

He nodded towards them, his Will tightening its grip on reality. His frame catapulted, bursting through the ragged ceiling of the tavern.

Elaine took a deep swig, emptying her mug. She slammed it to the ground, wiped her lips, and walked forward, her hair quite funny.

Her cheeks rosy, she put a hand on her hip. "For the sake of gender equality, I’ll deal with that bitch!" Leaving no room for argument, with a soft blue glow coating her body, she blurred out of sight.

Jack and Uriel glanced at each other. Was Elaine normally that fierce?

Well, she was, but her demeanor except on rare occasions was mostly cold. In sync, they both glanced at the broken pieces of the wooden mug, then glanced back at each other.

They couldn’t help but laugh... it seemed the Ice Queen herself was drunk!

"I’ll handle one enemy, so I can keep an eye on her," Uriel said to Jack as he walked out of the tavern.

Nodding in agreement, Jack followed. Someone had to keep a watch on Elaine—in her state, one couldn’t tell by how much her prowess had been impacted.

...

The wind cracked as a shadow streaked down through the dim skies of dusk.

Seth couldn’t fly in the Origin Realm; his Will wasn’t strong enough to do that. But what was possible was a temporary burst.

With hair billowed, his frame drew to a stop with a jarring gentle force that didn’t seem to follow the laws of physics.

Vamel smiled, staring at Seth now standing before him, his aura in full flare while the Treants reigned theirs with a controlled, precise coil.

His eyes carried a crazed glint. He held zero fear standing before Seth—only pride!

The wind stilled, the atmosphere drawing silent, as both parties stood before one another in a silent confrontation.

Shaine’s aura brewed to the max, channeled her essence, ready to activate her gene skill, when suddenly—

BOOOOM!

A figure mercilessly rammed into her, force of cold sinking into her flesh. Her ears buzzed, her figure caved into a curl, all the air leaving her nostrils as she was blasted out of sight.

Seth glanced at this scene, blinking in surprise. ’When did Elaine get so fierce?’

In that instant, his instincts tingled. His eyes glowed in response, his Will bending space as his figure abruptly moved in an impossible direction with a speed so slow... yet he traversed so fast.

BOOOOM!

And another quake shook the side of the building Seth had previously stood on, crumbling it into debris. Vamel, the attacker, turned his gaze to Seth in the distance.

"Space too? This keeps getting better!" His grin grew sinister as his gaze became more fervent.
