Chapter 147: The Dragons Fury!
The roiling, swirling storm of clouds suddenly parted open, and a shadow dived from the skies.
Everyone’s pupils constricted at the grand majesty of the creature before their eyes.
Especially Brandon and the others — they couldn’t comprehend what was before them.
They listened to folklores, they’d heard legendary myths, but never in their imagination did they think it might be real.
Even after the Descent of the Origin, even after discovering myriad hidden native races of Earth...
They never imagined that a freaking dragon would be among their seemingly endless list of foes.
Everyone’s muscles tensed, their hearts hammering, as an abyssal presence bore down.
The monster beat its wings against the sky, the faint crimson moon reflecting off its beautiful ruby scales, its eyes gold with the insertion of black vertical slits.
It was four-legged, each claw capable of ripping a grown elephant into shreds!
Then there was the size!
But while all these features seemed to impress the rest, Seth sensed something that left even him reeling in shock... its scales.
Yes, the glistening ruby-like scales gave off a familiar undulation, similar to a certain alloy they had mined recently.
The RiftTide alloy!
Seth wished for this to be pure coincidence, but he couldn’t convince himself it was so.
His expression warped. The only reason he could fight so freely was mostly because of the blood world descent.
If not for the blood world, he might have decided to avoid clashing with the Bloodborne race entirely.
But due to the fact that it allowed him to fight without restraint, he had chosen to stay and feel out the foreign race for himself.
Which had yielded unimaginable gains. Now they could relay the traits and weaknesses of the Bloodborne to the military, and when the war began, the Bloodborne race wouldn’t be as lethal to the human race as once feared.
But what if there was a creature that didn’t need anchors like the RiftTide alloy or a pocket world overlap like the blood world to bear its full power?
What if these dragons were always at their full strength despite being Awakened?
And from the terrifying aura he could perceive, these dragons were several times stronger than the Bloodborne!
Honestly, Seth was marveled by this home planet of his — Earth. Its secrets thrived deep.
The pupils of the dragon settled on Seth from the distance. It had already perceived the strongest from so far away.
Its aura boiled with savage intent, its wings flapping with greater intensity.
That size... That speed...
Seth quickly did the mental math. The risk definitely wasn’t worth the rewards. He didn’t have much time to waste any longer.
He had already detected the faint undulation in space that was gradually getting more pronounced. More Bloodborne were coming.
Engaging in battle with such a creature would definitely put him at a disadvantage, especially if it joined hands with the Bloodborne.
Seth couldn’t rule out such a possibility. After all, the enmity against the human race was shared by all.
Ganging up on a human wouldn’t be strange for these guys.
The pressure slowly mounted as the dragon tore through the skies, diving closer at a staggering pace.
Seth yanked a necklace from his chest. "Brandon! Uriel! Jack!"
Him screaming their names alone was all the signal they needed. All three rushed toward his direction.
Seth’s Weapon Resonance ability flamed. He pumped essence in troves, condensing all that enhancement into the necklace item.
The crystal necklace rattled as it burned bright. Chips and cracks spread as its effects were bolstered beyond what was meant possible.
This was an escape item of the Awakened rank, allowing the user to teleport within several meters of range.
But Seth’s enhancement was pushing it beyond this. Its range slowly surpassed a scope of a thousand miles, and the single-person teleportation was increased to four.
The item rattled, riddled with cracks. The dragon seemed to sense what was happening. Its nostrils flared with dark fumes.
Its maw parted, its eyes glinting with savage purpose. With its speed, it definitely wouldn’t reach Seth on time, but that didn’t stop it from attacking now.
A blistering wave of orange slowly bled from the depths of its throat.
It was one of the Divine Dragons of Earth, a breed of fire made flesh, a divine creature of destruction, wrath, and havoc.
But at a point in time, puny humans dared enslave its kind, just because by some miracle they got hold of the dragon pearl.
Its race was reduced to nothing but mere mounts, nothing but trophies for the rich. They were reduced to servants by creatures not even worth their everyday snacks.
It was humiliating. It was a grievous enmity that neither it nor its kind would ever forget.
With a burst of blistering wind, it let out a devastating torrent of flames!
Seth’s pupils constricted as a familiar level of heat licked at his skin. ’Fuck! The core flame!’
His soul shivered from trauma. His eyes flashed as his friends got close enough. He abandoned all hesitation and activated the shattering item!
A brilliant flash burned into the air, and once it died down, Seth and the other three had vanished, leaving behind a crumbling shard of crystal.
At that same second, barely missing its target by a fraction, the torrent tore into the terrain.
The earth turned molten and swallowed everything in its path...
Blistering waves of heat, ash, and fire swallowed all in sight.
Kaiden, who had long reached the edge of the blood world, grimaced at the sight. The entire Killdeer Mountain had been razed to a dead valley of ash and scorched earth, now turned glass.
The dragon’s breath slowly died down. It let out a furious cry to the skies. Its prey had escaped. Those damnable humans had escaped.
This humiliation burned deep, its scorching gaze scanning the distance. But it caught sight of nothing.
Seth and the others were long gone...
But that didn’t halt the fluctuations of space. They peaked over, and figures burst out of warped space in troves.
The second batch of Bloodborne — stronger and more numerous than the first!
