Chapter 87: Serve me now?
"I don’t know you play like that, Thaedric. First you threatened him and then you say your demands." Malak smirked. "I know you are even more crazy than me."
Thaedric hummed. Of course Erestor has no choice but to agree even if he did it with his eyes splitting fire. Valtor was a good motivation to that.
"Why don’t we just take the guardian with us?" Kagerou asked.
"That’ll certainly make it easier for me but the guardians can’t leave the capital. They are bound here and there’s no time to cut that connection or know if it’s even possible."
There were walking downward, in the stone hallway of the underground prison. Moans and groans followed them as they walked.
Kagerou grunted. "And what are we doing here? You’ve been going to dangerous and weird places since you arrive at the palace. What are we doing in the palace prison again!"
"What else? Our recruiting begins now!"
When they entered the hall where the prisoners were kept, they found Urlk waiting for them. He was talking with one of the guards who saluted immediately he saw them. "You are here."
"How are you, Urlk. Are you taking well with the Clown?"
He smiled. "Yes. Elyrixa would have wanted to meet him. He’s so knowledgeable and his tricks," he leaned in closer. "We keep tracks on everything that’s happening in the castle. Even know he knows what we are doing."
The Clown is his mother’s eyes after all. And not only in the palace here, it was throughout the Dominion and the world but that eyes saw far less when out of the capital.
"But not why I have called you here, eh?" Thaedric gestured for them all to follow him.
The cell that the Crime lords and their people were put in was large enough and cut into several sections. "This is what we are here for today."
Oros was the first to jump forward, smiling nervously. "Reaper blood! You are here for me aren’t you? Thank you! Thank you so much!"
The bars and the floor was etched with enchanted words that made it impossible for them to use bloodline technique. They had been stripped of their different clothes, all of them now wore white trousers and shirts. The other Crime lords also joined Oros in begging.
"Enough!" Kagerou shouted.
Thaedric tapped the bars gently, making them flinch back. "I’ve been told that the slaves have been freed. But surprised they could find any coins from your belongings and your enchanted tools were all gone too."
He smiled sweetly as their face soured with each word he spoke. The coins had been taken by him. The High Elder has awarded it to him, not like he had any choice when a guardian was breathing down his neck.
"But I am generous and I will provide escape. Oros, you come forward." He gestured.
The guards opened the door and Orso jerked outside. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, if I had known that you are the...."
Thaedric cut him off. "I have helped you by freeing you. The rest is up to you, Orso."
Oros understood too late as a dagger entered his side, between his ribs. He gasped and tried to move but his muscles froze and he fell, blood splashing.
Urlk stood over him, a dagger in hand. "Talk. I know you can speak the paralyzing poison don’t affect the mouth. Clever thing. It’s used for when you want kill but still want information."
Oros opened his mouth, his teeth stained with blood. "You! I...shou...should have killed you."
Urlk snorted. "You should have but you didn’t. Thaedric didn’t let me die. Now, greet my sister for me. She’ll be even more brutal than me." His dagger flashed down, targeting the soft place under the jaws and straight into the brain.
Oros stopped breathing.
Thaedric slapped him on the shoulder. "How is the revenge I promised you?"
With blood still in his hands, Urlk brought it to his mouth and tasted it. "His blood is bitter but the revenge is sweet." Then he smiled ae if a great weight has been lifted from his shoulder. "Thank you."
Malak murmured. "And they say I like blood."
Thaedric turned to the cell, the other Crime lords has shrunk back from him. "I’ll leave the rest of you to the High Elder, you are being charged with conspiracy against the Bloodscion. You should fear for your fate."
He moved the second prison cell next where the fighting slaves were being kept. "Gorvo."
The formal slave fighter looked up, face still as cold as ever. His eyes flickered to Kagerou and he straightened. "What do you want."
"I want you to serve me." Thaedric maintained eye contact as he looked at him. "I’m going down west and I need men who can handle your weapon. Your Bloodline is strong, you should only serve a superior bloodline."
"You think because you are Hydraeus your Bloodline is stronger than me?" He asked bitterly.
"Yes." Thaedric answered and then he flared his power. His eyes glowed as he pushed his bloodline aura toward Gorvo who matched him immediately bu Thaedric has said the truth. He is superior.
Gorvo gasped as a force slammed into him and he went to his knees. Thaedric stopped and he sagged. "Will you serve me now?"
Gorvo nodded quickly.
Thaedric smiled and his gaze wandered over until he saw who he was looking for. Flynn was also looking at him. "What about you Flynn. Your bloodline technique is impressive. Serve me."
"What will I get in return? It won’t be much different than fighting for my Crime lord." Flynn said.
"You are right about that because I will use you to fight my battles. But you will also have your freedom. And when I rise so do you." Thaedric spread his hands. "And when I fall too."
Flynn snorted. "At least you are honest. Give me food and I am with you."
Thaedric laughed. "Have you forgotten where you are? You’ll eat what you’ve never eaten before."
