Chapter 84: No friends here

Thaedric don’t have to bow to greet the Elders but he usually does it but that was a different Thaedric. This one will not bow to those who do not deserve it.

Erestor pushed his glasses up his narrow nose, he understood what Thaedric was doing and he wasn’t pleased. "It is High Elder now."

"Is it?" Thaedric asked carelessly and turned to the old woman beside him. "Elder." He said. The diplomacy Elder was his mother’s advisor but from the look on her face, she didn’t seems to want anything to do with him.

’So no friends here’ Thaedric thought.

Erestor continued in that smooth voice of his that he always uses when sending people for their crimes. "You have been called here to...." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Ah wait," He raised his hands and the murmuring started again. He didn’t fail to see the way Erestor clenched his jaws. "This just won’t do."

"What are you talking about." One of the new Elders said.

But Thaedric ignored them and turned, his gaze swept the whole of the gathering room. Then he pointed at an empty chair. "Get that for me will you?"

Malak was on it in a flash and he ripped the metal chair out of the metal rail it was connected to. The shrill metal drowned out the sound of the nobles.

"What are you doing!" The new financial Elder shouted. Most likely calculating the cost of repair.

Malak brought the chair to him and Thaedric took his time in sitting down. "Ah! This is far better," then he said to the financial Elder. "You are probably now here. Maybe. But it’s been a while I’ve been in my mother’s court, a small stool should have been placed beside her throne for me.

"I must say, the High Elder must have a lot in his mind not to remember that why he opened court in my mother’s name this morning." He held Erestor’s blue gaze until the man looked away.

"You are right, my Lord. The fault is entirely mine and a new stool would be made for you. The old one was disposed of when you quit coming here the comfort of your room."

Thaedric held back a flinch. ’Bastard, he got me there’ but he continued as if he didn’t hear the last part. "Make it possible. And I must extend my congratulations to you for being the High Elder."

This time, the whispering was much higher and there was even titter here and there. It let Thaedric know one thing. Not everyone is happy with Erestor’s new power.

Erestor held back a glare. It’s been a while he has been played like this and it’s coming from the bastard that killed his daughter. Although he had too many children to count from his five wives and several concubines, that don’t mean it’s still not his daughter!

He forced breath out of his nose. ’Little bastard that I’m trying to get rid of before. I’ll make it permanent!’ That was his thought but outside he faked a sympathetic face. "There’s no congratulations for something I don’t want. It is something that was pushed on me. And I hope it’s very temporary. Our Bloodscion must wake up soon."

"On that we agree on. I have been told that what’s happening to her is from a toxin from the binding necklace around her neck. And only the God Emperor has the cure."

One of the new Elders spoke. "Then that’s difficult. Our Dominion is not on good terms with the capital and the God Emperor won’t give us a cure. Because the necklace is a punishment."

It was the same thing that Thaedric thought of. But he must get the cure no matter what. "Then we have to get it through the only option that is available."

"And what is that, Scion Thaedric." The Diplomacy Elder asked.

"The Academy. A new turn opens in five months. We will get the cure for her through that."

The room was silent now as everyone understood what that meant, there was holding of breath.

Erestor narrowed his eyes. "Well, yes," he cleared his throat. "My son Lavi will be representing us for this turn so we will clearly get it."

Erestor had trained the boy since he was young for this. This is not only just an Academy for the boy but the time to make alliance with other heirs. To further Erestor’s ambitions, and Thaedric’s uselessness had made it easier.

"Your son." Thaedric said flatly.

"Yes. He sha be representing the Hydraeus clan."

Thaedric felt a flash of fury. This people want to play games with his mother’s life. His son will represent in the quest for his mother’s life? "I don’t think so. It is I Thaedric Hydraeus that will go. Do you mean to stand in the way of the Bloodscion’s son, Erestor?"

Erestor adjusted his glasses. "But you might not be here to represent us then. You might be too late so we must plan ahead on who to represent us."

Thaedric felt a chill, and he straightened. "What do you mean?"

"I mean to say, My Lord. That you might still be carrying out your sentence by them and not here to go to the Capital."

"What sentence?" Thaedric demanded. He felt as if he was losing control this conversation. Of everything.

"For the death of my daughter."

"I survived the Reckoning Sanctum. All sins are forgiven."

Erestor exchanged looks with the others. "But we have reason to believe that Cormac has something to do with you leaving the Sanctum. We–I am not satisfied with that. So as High Elder, and the aggrieved. It is within my rights to pass a judgment."

Thaedric stood up, slowly. This bastard had cornered him. He’s using the law and the fact that the only one above the law is not here. Smart.

"I hereby sentence you, Scion Thaedric Hydraeus to service for our Dominion. You are to go the rebellion Cockatrice Clan, and make their Overlord bend the knees as they once do to our clan. Do this by any means possible and you are free of all charges."
