Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Assessment

Nova floated in the void, the residual shimmer of discharged impurities drifting away like a slowly dispersing nebula. The spatial cracks created by his purge were gradually healing, reality stitching itself back together with the patient indifference of a universe that had seen worse.

He turned his attention inward and examined his transformed self with his newly amplified Celestial Cognizance.

The difference was immediate and total.

My comprehension ability has been amplified 100,000 times, he thought. The concept barely captured the magnitude. What took hours to understand before now took fractions of a second. Principles that would have required years of dedicated study resolved into transparent simplicity the moment his awareness touched them.

His consciousness expanded outward experimentally, touching the fabric of space around him.

What he perceived made his previous understanding look like a child’s drawing of a map.

Rules permeated everything — not Laws, but the deeper layer beneath them, the principles that governed the Laws themselves. Space Law was a Law. The Rule underlying it was the principle of Existence-Position Relationship, the fundamental truth that anything which exists must exist somewhere, and that somewhere was negotiable under the right conditions. Time Law was a Law. The Rule beneath it was the principle of Causal Sequence, the truth that events have order and that order could be navigated from either direction.

He could see both layers simultaneously now. Laws as expressions of Rules. Rules as expressions of something deeper still — Principles, the foundational architecture of reality, which he could touch at the edges but not yet fully read.

His Celestial Cognizance was processing the unlocked memories from the 40% soul release automatically, identifying Rule comprehension from past lives and integrating it into his current awareness without requiring conscious direction. Some of the Rules arriving from past life memories were at 40% comprehension, some at 60%, some approaching 70%. Under the Celestial Cognizance’s processing, most were already refining upward. A handful were touching the boundary of Principles.

He did a rough calculation of his actual combat potential now.

Laws at near-complete or complete comprehension from past life memories. Law fusion techniques now fully accessible. Rules at 40-70% with several advancing. Early Principle comprehension at the edges. The Eternal Chaotic Origin Scripture amplifying all output by its standard multipliers.

The number he arrived at made him go still for a moment.

My current combat power surpasses God-Tier.

Not approaches. Not threatens. Surpasses.

He held that realization carefully, turning it over, checking his calculation from different angles. It remained the same from every angle. A God-Tier entity’s defining characteristic was complete mastery of Laws and early Rule comprehension. He had Laws from past lives at levels that in some cases matched or exceeded that, plus Rule comprehension building above it, plus the Celestial Cognizance processing everything faster than any God-Tier entity’s natural comprehension speed could match.

The apocalypse that had haunted Kaelith across two lifetimes — the God-Tier entity emerging from the solar system’s edge in three years — was no longer something he feared.

He noted this fact and filed it and moved on to the next assessment.

The bloodline.

He had sensed it before — a dormant presence that he had attributed to the side effects of his energy lifeform transition. He had been wrong. It was not a side effect. It was a bloodline inheritance, his mother’s, sealed alongside his potential from birth and now fully awakened because the completion of his energy lifeform transformation had created the conditions its activation required.

He turned his Celestial Cognizance toward it and read what it actually was.

[Cosmic Bloodline — Awakened] [Tier: Cosmic — One realm below Primordial Origin]

Nova went quiet for a moment.

Cosmic tier.

One realm below Primordial Origin. In the hierarchy of bloodline classifications he could now read clearly through his unlocked past life knowledge: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Supreme, Ancient, Mythical, Transcendent, Divine, Cosmic, Primordial Origin.

His mother’s bloodline was Cosmic tier. One step from the absolute peak of existence in this universe.

It looks like my mother’s family is at the peak of existence in this universe, he thought quietly. Then, with the specific warmth of someone who had just understood something that had been unclear for seventeen years: Let me just regain some of my power. I will reunite her with Dad.

The Cosmic Bloodline’s awakening had also brought a physique with it.

[Celestial Devourer Physique — Cosmic Tier]

A physique carried in the Cosmic Bloodline, expressing the fundamental relationship between a cultivator’s existence and the celestial architecture of the universe itself.

Core Properties:

Nearly perfect control over all forms of energy — not manipulation from a distance but intrinsic authority, the way a river has authority over water. Energy in any form responds to the cultivator’s will as a natural extension of their body rather than as an external force being commanded.

Complete immunity to all forms of energy — elemental, conceptual, dimensional, temporal. No energy-based attack can damage the cultivator because the cultivator’s existence simply absorbs and integrates whatever arrives rather than resisting it.

Universal absorption — matter and energy both become fuel. The equivalence of mass and energy means nothing is wasted. A rock, a star, a quantum of light, a spatial crack — all of it can be drawn in and converted. At sufficient development, the cultivator can devour solar systems, galaxies, and universes themselves, integrating their total mass-energy content into personal reserves.

Celestial body affinity — an absolute and innate connection to the large-scale structures of the universe. Stars, black holes, neutron stars, quasars, magnetars — all celestial bodies recognize the cultivator as kin and respond accordingly. In proximity to any celestial body, the cultivator receives a passive enhancement proportional to the body’s scale and energy output. A star provides a continuous enhancement field. A black hole provides gravitational and dimensional law comprehension acceleration. A neutron star provides density and pressure tempering that no artificial training environment can replicate. A quasar provides raw energy density that dwarfs anything available in normal space.

Celestial link regeneration — the cultivator can form a direct energy link with any celestial body within range, using it as an external reservoir to instantly replenish exhausted reserves or accelerate healing. In practice this means the cultivator essentially never runs out of energy as long as stars exist in the local universe, since the universe itself is continuously providing input through the bloodline’s passive connection.

Note: The Celestial Devourer Physique and the Eternal Chaotic Cosmos Physique derived from the Eternal Chaotic Origin Scripture carry a compatibility rating of 98.7%. Merger is possible and synergistic. The combined physique would express properties of both simultaneously rather than requiring the cultivator to switch between them.

Nova read through the physique description slowly, then read it again.

I can devour galaxies, he thought. Not as a metaphor. Not as a distant eventual possibility. As a property of the physique that existed right now, awakened and present, waiting to be developed.

My mother’s family can do this.

That family is really broken. Why haven’t i heard of them from my previous lives. Maybe its not included in the 40% that was unsealed.

He looked at the sun, 150 million kilometers ahead. A star. A celestial body. Something the Celestial Devourer Physique had an absolute affinity with.

He extended the physique’s awareness toward it experimentally, the newly awakened faculty reaching out across the void.

The sun responded.

Not dramatically — it did not suddenly change its output or alter its behavior in any observable way. But in Nova’s awareness, the connection was immediate and total, like touching a wire that had always been live. The sun’s energy output was not just something he could detect — it was something that was actively feeding into him through the link, a steady background input that the physique was processing and integrating automatically.

He was standing several hundred thousand kilometers away from the sun and it was already fueling him.

When I actually get close to it, he thought, this is going to be a very different cultivation experience than I originally planned.

He turned his attention to the merger question. Two physiques. 98.7% compatibility. The Eternal Chaotic Cosmos Physique treating his body as a universe composed of countless miniature cosmos in each cell. The Celestial Devourer Physique giving him absolute authority over energy and an innate connection to celestial bodies.

The combined form he could see through the Celestial Cognizance’s projections was something neither physique could produce alone. A body that was simultaneously a self-contained universe and a node in the larger cosmic architecture — absorbing from the celestial scale, processing through the cellular universe scale, existing as a point where the macro and micro of creation met and fed each other.

The merger would require significant energy expenditure and would likely trigger further transformation.

His empty cells had the capacity. He needed to fill them first.

He looked at the sun again.

Perfect timing.

He checked his status panel one more time before beginning the journey.

Nova closed the panel.

He had perfect cellular structure with almost nothing in it. He had Rule comprehension that exceeded God-Tier but cells too empty to express much of it in combat. He had a Cosmic-tier bloodline physique that would feed him continuously from the nearest star but needed proximity to that star to do so efficiently.

He had every tool. He needed the fuel.

The sun — 150 million kilometers of vacuum between him and an infinite energy source that his bloodline already recognized as kin.

The clone was at home. His family was safe in the mansion. Kaelith was somewhere in the city planning her own route to God-Tier. The Martial Aptitude Examination was weeks away.

And somewhere beyond the solar system’s edge, something God-Tier was on its way.

Let it come, he thought. I’ll be ready.
