Chapter 269: Chapter 165: Can You Be a Little More Mature Like Me?

Besides, the school had to generate revenue. Some students with merely passable grades could get in by pulling a few strings.

Fights and such were also common.

They were all teenagers, after all. Being impulsive was normal.

After their meal, the group strolled out of the cafeteria. Sunlight spilled over them, tracing their leisurely silhouettes.

A faint smile played on He Zhiyu’s lips. She suddenly winked at Zhuo Peipei.

Zhuo Peipei got the hint and nodded before taking a deep breath.

The President spoke up. "Zhiyu, want to go to the supermarket? I’m craving some ice cream."

The President had barely finished speaking, their plan yet to unfold, when Ah Jie’s voice piped up at the worst possible moment.

"Huh? Peipei, your period’s about to start, isn’t it?"

Dead silence.

A strange silence descended upon the entrance of Cafeteria Number One.

Ah Jie had no idea that the words he’d just blurted out had made him the center of everyone’s attention.

"What the hell?" Yang Ze’s eyes went wide. He stared at Ah Jie in utter disbelief, as if the guy had just said something outrageous.

"That’s not..." Zhuo Peipei was also taken aback. A blush crept up her face as she hurried to explain.

The President’s jaw dropped. She stared at Ah Jie in disbelief and stammered, "Wait, Zhou Shaojie, h-how did you know my period was about to start?"

In that instant, Ah Jie realized he’d messed up. He glanced nervously at the stares of the students around them, and his normally fair-skinned face instantly flushed beet red.

"Hey, no, just listen to my excuse—I mean, my explanation!" Ah Jie stammered incoherently.

However, the moment he spoke, everyone around him turned to him with looks of intense curiosity, even the normally silent Li Zhi.

Ah Jie took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down before explaining. "Peipei and I were classmates for two years. We were deskmates in our sophomore year, and we were still deskmates in our junior year. After being around each other for over a year like that... I-I’m not an idiot!"

Hearing this, the group seemed to understand something, letting out a collective, knowing "Oooohhh~."

"No, that’s not it!" Ah Jie grew even more frantic. "Listen to me! I swear I don’t have any other intentions!"

As he spoke, he hastily pointed at Shen Yuan. "Him! Lao Yuan also knows—"

But before Ah Jie could finish, a glare from Li Zhi stopped him dead in his tracks, forcing him to choke on the rest of his words.

Before Ah Jie could pull himself together, Shen Yuan retorted, refusing to back down. "What the hell, you were only her deskmate for one year. Heck, I even know when Li Zhi..."

SMACK! Before Shen Yuan could finish, something hit him on the head.

"What is it you know?" the beauty demanded in a low voice.

Shen Yuan clutched his head, saying weakly, "I know... I know that you shower, brush your teeth, and wash your face before bed, and that you say goodnight to me."

Upon hearing Shen Yuan’s words, He Zhiyu was stunned.

’What?!’

’Li Zhi and Shen Yuan talk all the way from after evening study until they go to sleep?’

’They even tell each other when they’re taking a shower?’

Now, you might be thinking, ’Hey, isn’t this completely twisting what they meant?’

Don’t you worry about that. A shipper has her own way of shipping.

The next moment, Shen Yuan bounced right back.

"But that’s not the issue here, okay! The issue here is Ah Jie!"

Seeing the blame shift back to him, Ah Jie tensed up again.

’Stupid mouth, what did you just say?!’

Ah Jie couldn’t help but glance at Zhuo Peipei. The blush still hadn’t faded from the President’s face.

’A blushing Sweet Sister... hsss—she’s actually pretty kawaii!’

’No, no, no!’

’What are you thinking?!’

Ah Jie quickly explained, "As a gentleman of the modern era, I believe that caring for our female classmates is something we absolutely must do!"

"We can’t let our studies make us neglect caring for one another! I’ve always believed that we, Class 15, are a class full of love—not a cold, heartless class obsessed with grades like the others!"

"Bravo! Well said!"

Yang Ze started clapping. "That was so moving!"

"Yeah! So moving! Too bad I’m not feeling very humane right now."

Chen Mingyu grabbed Ah Jie by the collar, then he and Yang Ze dragged Ah Jie away.

"Dammit, today I, Chen Mingyu, shall uphold justice and rid our class of this pervert!"

Shen Yuan blinked, watching Ah Jie get dragged away.

"Sigh. Society is truly in decline."

The words were barely out of his mouth when Li Zhi’s voice sounded beside him. "You’re not much better."

"Hey! I’m a perfect gentleman, okay!"

"Hah." Li Zhi gave him a scornful smirk, then turned and headed for the school supermarket.

Seeing which way Li Zhi was going, Shen Yuan knew her destination.

Shen Yuan glanced at Zhuo Peipei, who was still in a daze, then at He Zhiyu, before turning to chase after Li Zhi.

"Hey, can you treat me today?"

"Alright. Call me something sweet."

"Mommy!"

"Go to hell, you little shit!"

Watching the two of them walk away, He Zhiyu’s gaze fell upon the President standing beside her.

"Peipei, they’re gone."

Zhuo Peipei looked up, her eyes filled with bewilderment.

He Zhiyu looked at Zhuo Peipei’s flushed face and asked instinctively, "Um, are you okay?"

Zhuo Peipei shook her head.

The President was starting to calm down.

"That moron Zhou Shaojie has something wrong with his head, spewing all that nonsense."

Zhuo Peipei spoke rapidly. "Keeping track of my period... I bet he’s planning to use my moment of weakness to lead those remnants of the Early Love Prohibition Association in a sneak attack on my Kissing Association!"

He Zhiyu blinked, then said hesitantly, "Well... is it possible he likes you?"

Zhuo Peipei took a sharp breath, then patted He Zhiyu on the shoulder. "Ah, Zhiyu, you’re still young. With Zhou Shaojie and me, it’s a matter of conflicting stances!"

"Our Kissing Association and the Early Love Prohibition Association are as incompatible as fire and water!"

He Zhiyu asked in confusion, "But didn’t Zhou Shaojie already quit?"

"Hmph! He may have left the club, but his heart’s still in it. Who knows what that bastard is thinking? Besides, he said it *should* be soon! Zhiyu, do you know when my period is?"

"Around the 28th. Today’s the 25th."
