Chapter 254: Chapter 160: Shen Yuan Must Die

If those moronic kids who fancy themselves "street" saw this, they’d probably be at a complete loss about their own futures.

Making it on the streets is tough these days, but maybe they could still get by with that cringey "gangster shuffle" dance.

Shen Yuan and Li Zhi walked leisurely down the road.

Looking at Li Zhi’s outfit, Shen Yuan was momentarily at a loss for words.

The vibe Li Zhi was giving off now was a world away from her usual self.

So gentle.

Li Zhi glanced at Shen Yuan and noticed he seemed a little stiff.

So, Li Zhi spoke up. "You seem a little stiff."

Shen Yuan nodded. "Yeah. I think the two of us together look a bit like... oh, right. An underage kid and his hot young stepmom."

Hearing this, Li Zhi’s eyes shot wide open. She never would have imagined Shen Yuan saying something so outrageous.

Leave it to Lao Yuan. The moment he opened his mouth, he made Li Bao completely lose it.

"Why don’t you go die!" Li Zhi roared, all pretense of elegance gone.

Without a second thought, she aimed a kick straight at him.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You’re in a skirt! Watch it!" Shen Yuan yelped, quickly dodging.

"I’m wearing palazzo pants, you idiot! And they’re perfect for kicking your ass!" Li Zhi couldn’t care less, and she chased him down the path, hitting him the whole way.

The old security guard at the school gate saw them but didn’t intervene.

Shen Yuan was on very familiar terms with the guards, and besides, the two of them bickering looked just like any other young couple.

The moment he saw Li Zhi pull out her school ID, the guard completely ignored Shen Yuan’s pleading look.

Naturally, the pair drew the gazes of many students along the way.

Their presence caught the attention of everyone they passed. Curious glances followed them, and some students even began to whisper.

"Huh? Do we have a girl that pretty in our school?" a boy asked in surprise.

"What do you mean? Of course we do! There are pretty girls in every grade," another boy replied.

"I’m always telling you guys to get out more, to look around instead of being cooped up in the classroom all the time."

One of the boys cleared his throat and continued, "You can find that upperclassman on the campus forum. She’s third in her grade, usually eats on the second floor of Cafeteria No. 1, but..."

"Now, though... looks like she’s already taken."

"Man, that’s a bummer."

One of the boys snapped out of it and stared at his friend in disbelief. "Wait a minute, how the hell do you know all that?"

"Isn’t this essential knowledge?"

Shen Yuan and Li Zhi ignored the stares and quickly made their way to their classroom.

They were heard before they were seen.

"Shen Yuan, you stop right there! What was that about a ’hot young stepmom’?! Explain yourself! Do I look old to you?!"

"I was wrong! Li Bao, I was wrong!"

Even as Shen Yuan entered the classroom, Li Zhi was still pinching and hitting him.

Hearing their voices, He Zhiyu naturally glanced toward the classroom door, just in time to see Li Zhi.

When Li Zhi walked in, dressed in a taro-purple knit sweater and palazzo pants, the noisy classroom suddenly dropped a level in volume. Two boys in the front row, who had been roughhousing, froze on the spot.

He Zhiyu’s mouth fell open. The tip of her pen unconsciously poked a small hole in her notebook, and she only snapped back to reality when the ink began to bleed into the paper.

’This is gonna be the death of me...’

He Zhiyu stared, transfixed, as the girl walked in, backlit by the light from the doorway. The satin ribbons dangling from the knit sweater were just as she had described in her novel the day before. But her words, she now realized, hadn’t captured even a fraction of the real thing.

"Is that really Li Zhi?"

Someone poked their deskmate with a pen and whispered.

The deskmate suddenly closed their eyes and sighed. "This must be what love feels like."

But their reverie was soon shattered by the sound of Li Zhi scolding Shen Yuan.

"Shen Yuan, you dumbass, try and dodge again!"

The gazes of several boys swept over the slender, pale wrist peeking out from Li Zhi’s sleeve. They were suddenly reminded of the sports meet, when she had been yelling and cursing at Shen Yuan.

’Okay, that’s still Li Zhi.’

Once the pair got back to their seats, He Zhiyu eagerly turned around. Her big eyes were glued to Li Zhi as she said with a huge grin, "Zhizhi, you look so gentle today!"

Li Zhi, who was in the middle of slapping Shen Yuan’s arm, was caught off guard by He Zhiyu’s sudden compliment. A faint blush rose to her cheeks as she replied softly.

"Really? Thanks."

As Li Zhi spoke, He Zhiyu’s gaze inadvertently drifted to her neckline. The faint, elegant line of her collarbone immediately captured her attention.

He Zhiyu’s face immediately contorted with envy.

Meanwhile, Yang Ze and Chen Mingyu, who were sitting next to He Zhiyu, glanced at Li Zhi before turning to stare blankly at each other.

Their eyes met, and in that instant, they seemed to understand each other perfectly.

They both read the same sentence in the other’s eyes.

’’Damn, who the hell could resist that!’’

After a brief silence, their gazes simultaneously shifted to Shen Yuan.

Yang Ze suddenly slammed his hand on the desk, shot to his feet, and roared at Shen Yuan, "Damn it! Shen Yuan, you animal, get over here!"

Shen Yuan was startled by Yang Ze’s outburst but immediately rejected his demand. "Nope, I refuse. I’m requesting political asylum from Zhou Shaojie."

Seeing this, Chen Mingyu sneered and said grimly, "Ah Jie isn’t here yet. Your request is completely useless!"

"Video! Video call Ah Jie!" Shen Yuan shouted without hesitation.

Yang Ze hesitated for a moment but ultimately picked up his phone and video called Zhou Shaojie.

The call connected quickly, and Zhou Shaojie’s face appeared on the screen.

"What’s up, Ah Ze?" Zhou Shaojie’s voice came through the phone.

Yang Ze said nothing, simply switching the camera to its rear-facing view.

The instant the camera view switched, Ah Jie’s eyes flew wide.

"HOLY SHIT?!"

Ah Jie’s cry was filled with disbelief and rage.

Immediately after, Ah Jie’s large hand pointed straight at Shen Yuan through the screen as he roared, "Die!"

"Make Shen Yuan die! Right now! By the time I get back to class, I want to see him taking his last breath! You’ve betrayed the organization! This is the behavior of a beast! Don’t let him live a second longer!" Ah Jie’s words came out like a machine gun, leaving no room for argument.

The moment Ah Jie finished speaking, Li Zhi started clapping.

"Well said! Shen Yuan deserves to die!" Li Zhi led the applause. The crisp, loud claps echoed through their little corner of the room, as if in powerful agreement with Ah Jie’s verdict.

With Li Zhi’s permission, Yang Ze and Chen Mingyu acted as if they’d received a royal decree. They exchanged a look and, without a moment’s hesitation, rushed forward and dragged Shen Yuan from his seat.

"Let’s go! You’re not getting away until you explain yourself today!"

Yang Ze added with a sinister grin, "Three strikes, man! This is the third time! If you dare lie again, we’ll make you understand that the thing sticking you in the back might not be a knife!"

Shen Yuan struggled with all his might as Yang Ze and Chen Mingyu dragged him away.

Shen Yuan reached a hand out to Li Zhi.

"Li Bao! Li Bao, save me!"
