Chapter 206: Chapter 144: Send Me the Photos, Both of Them
The class schedule remained the same, but since it was the holidays, of course, there was no gym class!
Naturally, we didn’t have to do morning exercises during the big recess either.
If a teacher let us out early, we’d have a lot of time to mess around.
It was a small perk, you could say.
’A perk, my ass!’
’Compared to a real damn vacation, what kind of perk is this?’
"I kind of miss last year’s National Day holiday," Zhou Shaojie said, resting his head on his desk. His gaze was distant, as if lost in memory, a trace of nostalgia flickering in his eyes.
Seeing this, Shen Yuan asked curiously, "Because you were a sophomore last year?"
Zhou Shaojie slowly shook his head. "Probably because around this time last year," he said softly, "I still had a cute girlfriend."
Hearing this, Shen Yuan’s mouth twitched, his face a mask of disbelief. "No way, man. You can’t be serious! Look, you can lie to me, that’s fine. Just don’t lie to yourself, okay? It doesn’t matter if I get lied to, I can just laugh it off. It’s no big deal for me to just believe you..."
However, just as Shen Yuan was about to continue his rant, Yang Ze, who sat in front of them, suddenly spun around and cut him off.
Yang Ze looked at Shen Yuan with a dead-serious expression. "Lao Yuan, Ah Jie really did have a girlfriend back in sophomore year."
"What?!" Shen Yuan’s eyes flew wide open, his face a picture of pure shock. He couldn’t believe Zhou Shaojie had actually been in a relationship—and during their sophomore year, no less!
The shock only lasted a split second, though. In the next instant, it was completely consumed by the primal spirit of gossip.
His inner gossip demon roared to life!
Shen Yuan looked like an explorer who’d just discovered a new continent, unable to contain his excitement. He violently grabbed Zhou Shaojie by the collar and demanded, "Quick, quick, quick! Spill the details!"
Startled by Shen Yuan’s sudden outburst, Zhou Shaojie sighed in exasperation. He opened his mouth to explain, but the words that came out were something else entirely.
"Er, it’s all in the past."
"AAAAAH!! Stop, stop talking! I’m going to lose my mind from jealousy, I’m begging you, stop! No matter how hard or poor my life gets, I never feel sad. It’s only when you say things like this that my heart aches as if it’s being stabbed by a knife."
Watching Shen Yuan’s meltdown, Ah Jie’s composure finally shattered.
Seething, Ah Jie grabbed Shen Yuan’s collar in return, nearly yanking him out of his seat.
"What the hell are you so jealous about?! Huh?! What is there to be jealous of?! Isn’t having Li Zhi enough for you?!" Ah Jie’s roar, thick with anger and bewilderment, echoed through the classroom.
Shen Yuan blinked, seemingly surprised by Ah Jie’s reaction.
Shen Yuan calmly and gently explained, "Li Zhi and I aren’t dating. We’re just childhood friends."
After he spoke, Shen Yuan lightly brushed Ah Jie’s hand off his collar as if it were something filthy.
"Who gave you permission to grab me? Only my sweet, soft Li Bao is allowed to do that."
Shen Yuan said this with a smug and proud look on his face.
The instant the words left his mouth, a powerful force slammed into his back. Caught off guard, Shen Yuan lurched forward.
At the same time, Li Zhi’s furious reprimand came from behind him. "If you keep acting like a lunatic, I’ll string you up by the gate of our apartment complex!"
The sudden rebuke made Shen Yuan immediately cower.
Seeing this, Ah Jie stared at Shen Yuan, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"’Sweet and soft,’ my ass! And you still say you’re not dating?" Ah Jie’s voice was dripping with skepticism and mockery.
"We’re not. We’re just childhood friends." Shen Yuan remained stubborn.
Oh wait, this wasn’t stubbornness. It was a fact.
"’Loving you in the name of being childhood friends,’ is that it? Shen Yuan, you just want to Defend and Steal!"
Ah Jie unleashed a Great Wilderness Heaven-Imprisoning Finger. "You’re always watching *Defend and Steal*, going on and on about ’catching the inside man,’ but you’re really just there for the ship fuel, aren’t you!"
"You’re totally one of those goblins who, while getting their ship fix, just collapses onto the bed, buries their face in a pillow under the covers, and starts screaming and crying. You’re there muttering ’Holy shit, holy shit,’ trying to hold it in, crying and freaking out at the same time. The hand holding your phone is trembling, you’ve still got a smile on your face, but tears are just streaming down—that’s you, isn’t it!"
As soon as Ah Jie finished, Shen Yuan heard Yang Ze cut in. "Oh, that’s enough, my old chap. For a matter more trivial than a crumb of cake, you simply must bring up goblins. Heavens, I would wager the goblins have done nothing to provoke you, nor have they committed any acts of infidelity against God."
Chen Mingyu turned his head and picked up where Yang Ze left off.
"Oh, what Ah Ze means to say is, why must you besmirch the good name of the goblins? Good heavens, look at our poor goblin compatriot! You’ve sullied his reputation until it’s blacker than one of Mrs. Mary’s burnt cookies."
"Tone it down a bit."
Zhuo Peipei watched the boys’ lunatic display with a look of utter resignation.
However, Zhuo Peipei quickly revealed her true colors as president of the Kissing Association. "But now I’m genuinely curious. Zhou Shaojie, you’ve really been in a relationship before? I thought you were part of the Early Love Prohibition Association?"
Ah Jie looked at Zhuo Peipei, his expression indignant. "That was in the past!" he explained loudly. "I quit the Early Love Prohibition Association a long time ago!"
He emphasized the point, as if to prove he was telling the truth.
A slight smile played on Zhuo Peipei’s lips.
She immediately turned to Yang Ze, her eyes twinkling with anticipation. "Yang Ze, do tell."
