Chapter 174: Chapter 133: One of Us Is Definitely Shipping "Defend and Steal" (Part 2)

Father Zhuo noticed his daughter’s expression was a little off and asked with concern, "What’s wrong, Peipei? Did something happen?"

Zhuo Peipei hastily waved it off, explaining with a smile, "It’s nothing, really. A classmate was just asking me about a homework question."

Father Zhuo nodded. He had always been confident in his daughter’s academic performance.

However, he had absolutely no idea about Zhuo Peipei’s secret identity.

If he knew his daughter was the president of the Kissing Association, the club stirring up all the drama on campus, one could only imagine his reaction.

After placating her father with a vague response, Zhuo Peipei turned her attention back to Shen Yuan’s message.

’There had to be a reason for Shen Yuan to say that.’

Zhuo Peipei suddenly recalled how, during evening study hall, He Zhiyu had mentioned Shen Yuan abruptly asking her if there had been an update.

’It’s definitely a trap!’

Zhuo Peipei nodded slightly. Her mood sank the moment her eyes fell back on her phone screen.

’I can’t pretend I didn’t see it. After all, there’s no way I’d be asleep this early.’

At this thought, Zhuo Peipei came up with the perfect excuse.

’The confession wall account is on my home computer. I’m not logged in on my phone, so I’ll deal with it when I get home.’

After sending that message, the rest would be much easier.

’A quick "haha," then "going to eat," then "going to shower." The classic three-part stall. I’ll just drag this out as long as I can.’

’Anyway, if I can stall until 11 PM, it’ll be my usual update time anyway.’

Zhuo Peipei wasn’t worried in the slightest.

Sure enough, after she sent her message, Shen Yuan didn’t reply.

In reality, however, Shen Yuan had just gotten home and was immediately ambushed by his mom.

Zhang Yuyan grabbed ahold of Shen Yuan. "Hold on. Did you go out and eat junk food for dinner again?"

Shen Yuan’s brows knitted together instantly. He retorted, annoyed, "’How could I? Am I the type of person who eats junk food? I’ll have you know I’m very conscious about eating healthy!’"

He puffed out his chest and continued confidently, "If I ate junk food all the time, would I have grown this tall?"

Zhang Yuyan wasn’t so easily convinced. She narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing him, and pressed, "Then tell me, what exactly *did* you eat for dinner?"

Seeing her reaction, the corners of Shen Yuan’s mouth turned up in a smug smile. He answered without a hint of hesitation, "Shaxian Grand Hotel!"

At the mention of "Shaxian," Zhang Yuyan’s gaze clearly grew suspicious. She looked Shen Yuan up and down, as if searching for a crack in his story.

"Really?" Zhang Yuyan’s tone dripped with skepticism.

"Of course it’s real!" Shen Yuan shot back. "If you don’t believe me, you are welcome to look through my phone’s payment history. The record of my transaction at Shaxian is clearly listed, which will most certainly prove my innocence!"

The words had barely left Shen Yuan’s mouth when Zhang Yuyan unhesitatingly held out her hand. "Alright, give me your phone. Let me see!"

"Hey! You really don’t believe me!" Shen Yuan grumbled, but still quickly pulled his phone from his pocket. "Fine, I’ll show you. If I really ate at Shaxian, then what’s in it for me?"

"I’ll treat you to Haidilao!" Zhang Yuyan declared firmly.

Shen Yuan’s eyes lit up instantly. He asked excitedly, "For real? If I really ate at Shaxian, you’ll really treat me to Haidilao?"

Zhang Yuyan rolled her eyes and snapped, "Dead serious. And by the way, drop the overly polite act. I’ve had enough of your damn ’yes, ma’am,’ ’no, ma’am’ nonsense."

"You got it!"

As Shen Yuan spoke, a transaction record appeared before Zhang Yuyan’s eyes, glaringly displaying a payment made to Shaxian.

Staring at the receipt, Zhang Yuyan’s eyes went wide. "You ate this much?" she asked, aghast. "Are you a pig?"

Hearing his mom’s comment, Shen Yuan just shrugged. "I ate with Li Zhi," he explained.

Shen Yuan eating alone = spending cap of 15.

Eating with Li Zhi = no spending cap.

After hearing this, Zhang Yuyan nodded. "Alright then, you’re off the hook." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Shen Yuan quickly stopped his mom. "Wait, that’s it?"

Zhang Yuyan shot him a look. "What did you expect?" she said peevishly. "I’m not taking you out for Haidilao at this time of night, am I?"

Shen Yuan thought about it and figured she had a point, so he nodded.

"Ah, okay then. I’ll head back to my room."

As he spoke, his eyes remained fixed on his mom’s face, as if trying to glean some unusual information from her expression.

However, Zhang Yuyan’s expression remained unchanged. She still had that placid look on her face and even waved her hand dismissively, as if shooing away a pesky fly.

At this, Shen Yuan pursed his lips, then turned and walked toward his room.

The moment Shen Yuan was back in his room and the door closed with a SLAM, the expression on Zhang Yuyan’s face changed instantly.

Ms. Zhang slowly walked over to Old Shen and sat elegantly on the sofa. She crossed her arms, looked at him with a serious expression, and announced gravely, "Your wife is angry."

Shen Guohao was stunned for a second when he heard that. He quickly looked over at Zhang Yuyan, and when he saw her puffed-up, pouting expression, a hint of a smile immediately touched his lips.

"Well, in a bet, someone has to be right and someone has to be wrong. It’s perfectly normal!" Shen Guohao said with a shrug.
