Chapter 170: Chapter 132: Will Update Tonight, Don’t Be Anxious

The two of them had a quick and simple dinner. All that mattered was getting full.

For overworked high school seniors, getting a decent, filling meal was mission accomplished.

The rest of their time would be spent grinding through test papers.

Before heading back to school, however, Shen Yuan bought Li Zhi an ice cream.

This was the ice cream he had promised her as a reward for getting up early to buy those rice cakes.

It was just a little past 5:30 p.m. when they returned to school.

It was still a bit too early for the evening self-study session.

Still, quite a few people were already in the classroom by this time.

Most of them were boarders.

After all, the boarders had to drop things off at their dorms. They always had a mountain of stuff to bring back from home after a rare break.

Of course, plenty of day students were in the classroom as well. Like some of the boarders who had arrived early, their goal was quite simple: to copy homework.

Trying to finish six test papers during a one-day break was nearly impossible. Unless you were someone like Shen Yuan, who had a "homework alliance," you basically had to sacrifice your entire holiday to get it done.

Giving up the holiday was out of the question, but so was not doing the homework.

Under normal circumstances, having it both ways was impossible.

So, most students chose to sacrifice the homework for the holiday!

You could always copy homework during the evening study hall, but a holiday, once it was over, was gone for good.

Right now, Class 15 was filled with the scurrying figures of students copying homework.

Do a few of the six test papers yourself, and copy the rest during evening study hall.

That way, you could enjoy a perfectly happy holiday. What’s not to love?

And to make the copying less obvious, they typically found a different person to copy from for each subject.

That way, the copied work was spread out, making it harder for the teachers to notice.

Of course, the reality was more likely that the teachers just couldn’t be bothered to care.

The teachers were in a good mood after the break, too lazy to scold anyone.

Shen Yuan heard that line from his Eldest Female Cousin all the time.

Li Zhi sat down in her seat, then took her schoolbag from Shen Yuan’s hands.

Li Zhi didn’t ask about Shen Yuan’s homework. She knew from yesterday that he’d already finished copying it.

’Though he didn’t copy *all* of it, so it seems he still has a tiny shred of conscience left.’

As for Li Zhi, she was done with hers as well.

The two had just sat down when a figure at the classroom door caught Shen Yuan’s eye.

Yang Ze walked into the classroom, his face dark and his steps heavy.

The moment Yang Ze’s gaze met Shen Yuan’s, he gave a slight nod. The meaning in his eyes couldn’t have been clearer—as soon as Zhou Shaojie returned, he was to be apprehended and brought to justice.

As for what would happen after the arrest, only the back door of the classroom would know.

Shortly after Yang Ze took his seat, Chen Mingyu arrived as well.

His expression was a carbon copy of Yang Ze’s: utterly grim.

Following them, Sun Xiansheng and Yang Shuai also entered the classroom.

Sun Xiansheng’s expression was particularly eye-catching. He looked as if he had completely lost all hope; the phrase "drowned in despair" could be used to describe him.

Sun Xiansheng plopped into his seat. Without even putting his things away, he staggered over to Ah Jie’s desk like a zombie.

Seeing Sun Xiansheng looking so crestfallen, Shen Yuan’s curiosity got the better of him. He couldn’t help but ask, "Teacher Hou, what happened to you? You look like your soul has left your body."

The moment he finished speaking, Yang Ze and Chen Mingyu both turned their heads to look at Sun Xiansheng, seemingly just as surprised by his condition.

"Dude, how many times did you rub one out?"

"Pace yourself, man!"

"Get lost!"

Sun Xiansheng waved a dismissive, listless hand. "You know how I’ve been playing strategist for that kid Ah Shuai?" he said, his voice devoid of energy. "Lao Yuan, I told you before that I advised him to ask the girl out during the Mid-Autumn Festival."

Shen Yuan nodded, recalling the conversation.

"What about it?"

Seeing that Shen Yuan still didn’t get it, Sun Xiansheng continued, "Remember how we were joking that Ah Shuai should take the girl to an internet cafe?"

Hearing this, Shen Yuan, Yang Ze, and Chen Mingyu all froze.

"Don’t fucking tell me Ah Shuai actually took the girl to an internet cafe," Shen Yuan said, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Sun Xiansheng. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Sun Xiansheng shook his head. "No, he didn’t do that."

Hearing this, Shen Yuan, Yang Ze, and Chen Mingyu all let out a collective sigh of relief.

After all, if Ah Shuai had really taken a girl to an internet cafe for a date, he would have been a lost cause.

Shen Yuan, however, was quick on the uptake. A sudden realization dawned, and he looked at Sun Xiansheng in horror. "He didn’t go somewhere even dumber than an internet cafe, did he?"

Sun Xiansheng nodded with a bitter, helpless smile. "He went to an arcade... to play racing games."

"An arcade? That’s actually not so bad," Shen Yuan said, trying to be optimistic. "Racing games are really interactive! And if you manage to beat her, arcades also have claw machines."

Clearly, Shen Yuan was mostly just interested in the claw machines.

A bleak smile touched the corners of Sun Xiansheng’s mouth as he shook his head helplessly. "If only he were that smart. The girl said she wanted to try the claw machine, and he actually said they’d be better off saving the money to buy in-game skins!"

Sun Xiansheng had barely finished speaking when a sudden BANG made Shen Yuan jump.
