Chapter 137: Chapter 118: General Manager Shen is Quite Strict
Shen Yuan had willingly taken the bait. Oh, no, he had willingly forgiven Li Zhi.
He had only forgiven Li Zhi out of the fated bond of being deskmates, their unbreakable friendship, and the simple fact they were childhood friends.
It had absolutely nothing to do with a beautiful girl acting cute.
Shen Yuan wasn’t that shallow.
"Peipei, Peipei, you’ll never guess! Zhizhi was just pouting at him! Zhizhi was actually pouting at Shen Yuan! And you should have seen Shen Yuan’s face! He was completely dumbstruck!!"
He Zhiyu couldn’t contain even a shred of her excitement.
If she hadn’t been outside the classroom, Shen Yuan and Li Zhi would’ve definitely heard her.
Zhuo Peipei’s eyes went wide when she heard that.
Zhuo Peipei and Li Zhi had become classmates in their second year of high school.
Zhuo Peipei had even been Li Zhi’s deskmate for a time, so she had a pretty good idea of what Li Zhi was like.
In Zhuo Peipei’s mind, while Li Zhi wasn’t exactly an ice queen, she definitely wasn’t the friendly type either.
Sometimes, the moment she opened her mouth, something venomous would come out. And even when she wasn’t being sharp-tongued, her words still had a way of cutting you to the quick.
’The Li Zhi she knew, pouting at Shen Yuan?’
’Could the word "pout" even be used in the same sentence as "Li Zhi"?’
Of course, if this had happened back when Shen Yuan’s star first began to rise, Zhuo Peipei might have suspected He Zhiyu had misheard.
But things were different now.
It was obvious there was something going on between those two.
Though Zhuo Peipei had no idea just how serious that "something" was.
But if they were already at the pouting stage, then it must mean...
’Never mind, never mind. I can’t let my thoughts go there.’
Zhuo Peipei shook her head.
Based on her observations of the two of them, Shen Yuan and Li Zhi were the type to blush over the smallest sweet gesture. They must have had very little, if any, physical contact.
"Shit!"
Zhuo Peipei’s sudden, unexpected curse made He Zhiyu jump.
He Zhiyu glanced at Zhuo Peipei in confusion. "What’s wrong?" she asked, bewildered.
Zhuo Peipei turned to face He Zhiyu, her expression crestfallen. She sighed. "Zhiyu, they’re being so sweet with each other now. Do you think... they might be having all these sweet moments in secret, when we’re not looking?"
He Zhiyu listened, nodded thoughtfully, and finally gave a definitive answer. "They definitely are."
Zhuo Peipei’s heart sank even further at He Zhiyu’s reply.
She slowly closed her eyes, already picturing the two of them having their sweet moments in private, and a wave of disappointment washed over her.
After a moment, Zhuo Peipei opened her eyes again and looked at He Zhiyu. "So, does that mean we’re going to miss out on all that sugar?"
Her tone was thick with indignation and regret.
Then, Zhuo Peipei brought the topic back to the sweet moment from lunch. "Zhiyu, you saw that sweet moment at lunch, right? What do you think, knowing there are probably even sweeter moments like that happening that we don’t get to see?"
He Zhiyu blinked, then let out a curse.
"Shit!"
For a member of the Kissing Association, a senior year of high school without any sugar was a bleak existence indeed.
This was especially true for He Zhiyu.
She was the author of *Defend and Steal*, after all!
If she couldn’t get her sugar fix from the real-life main characters, her inspiration would run dry!
He Zhiyu even had the sudden urge to just confess everything to Shen Yuan and Li Zhi and get it over with.
’I’m the author of *Defend and Steal*, and I need my sugar!’
Just imagining the scene made He Zhiyu shudder.
’Li Zhi would probably kill me the moment I finished speaking.’
Unlike Zhuo Peipei, He Zhiyu had known Li Zhi since their first year; they’d been in the same class for all three years of high school.
Right after they started high school, they sat one in front of the other, and they’d even been deskmates for a while.
He Zhiyu’s impression of Li Zhi was different from others’.
While others found Li Zhi a bit intimidating and sharp-tongued, He Zhiyu actually thought she was a great person.
If you didn’t understand something with your schoolwork, you could always ask her, and she would patiently explain it.
As for getting hit with comments like, "Didn’t we just go over this?" or "Were you even listening?" or "A monkey could understand this," well, you’d get the same treatment if you asked a teacher.
The teachers just weren’t quite as nasty about it as Li Zhi was.
But mustering up the courage to go to the teachers’ office was an even more daunting task.
However, even though He Zhiyu saw Li Zhi as a good person, she couldn’t deny that the girl was genuinely intimidating.
He Zhiyu knew Li Zhi had a childhood friend, but since the two of them always bickered whenever they met, she had just assumed their relationship was ordinary.
So now, seeing the intimidating Li Zhi pouting in front of Shen Yuan... He Zhiyu completely melted into a puddle of goo.
OM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!
Sister Lan took up half of the first evening self-study session.
There were still some unanswered questions on the weekly language arts quiz, so Sister Lan used that half-period of evening study hall to finish going over it.
After she finished reviewing the quiz, Zhou Ruolan felt a wave of relief, as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
This was her first time teaching a senior class, and it wasn’t just the students who felt the pressure of the first-round reviews; the teachers felt it too.
Especially for a teacher like Zhou Ruolan, who was teaching seniors for the first time, just thinking about it was nerve-wracking.
Getting a job at Jiyang Middle School proved Zhou Ruolan was capable, of course.
But being capable was one thing; being nervous was another.
Zhou Ruolan was terrified of making any mistakes.
So when she realized she was falling a bit behind schedule, she’d been feeling down.
Then her Eldest Female Cousin gave her best friend a piece of advice.
"Just use the evening study hall. If no other teacher is using the time, you should."
"How can you call that ’taking over’ study hall? That’s called being responsible for your students."
