Chapter 247: Chapter 162: A Heaven-shattering Arrow, the Xie Siblings, and Ruchen’s Predicament

In the eyes of others, they couldn’t see the mountain of black mist that blotted out the sky and moon.

Nor could they see the colossal shadow looming behind Xie Luohe.

An arrow that could pierce the clouds, wrapped in a fierce aura, shot through the sky.

The long arrow tore through the jungle, its sharp wind slicing leaf after leaf in two.

"Shanshan, get out of the way!"

The feathered arrow was aimed straight for Wen Shishan.

Chu Chengfeng’s face instantly darkened with rage.

’How dare you shoot at my woman?’

With the cry of a dragon and the howl of a sword, a white rainbow shot out from Chu Chengfeng’s Sword Box.

In a flash of lightning, Chu Chengfeng thrust his sword. Points of sword light bloomed before him like defiant plum blossoms in the snow. In an instant, they precisely converged on a single spot, meeting the very tip of the arrow.

VMMMM—

Chu Chengfeng’s sword bent instantly under the pressure, its blade letting out a strained hum as if on the verge of breaking.

"Hiss—"

Stunned by the terrifying force coming from a single arrow, Chu Chengfeng was horrified. But he gritted his teeth, tasted a rush of sweetness in his throat, and forced himself to swing, twist, and parry.

The arrow grazed Chu Chengfeng’s cheek and shot past, taking a lock of hair from the top of Xiao Buping’s head.

Xiao Buping touched his head in shock. He could feel a sudden cool patch on his scalp, a chunk of hair now missing.

"Hmph! Is that all you’ve got?"

Chu Chengfeng laughed heartily, his spirits soaring.

In the distance, Xie Luohe smiled and drew her Curved Bow again, loosing the third arrow.

Zheng Xiu stared at the sky in shock.

In the dead of night, a "black lotus" even deeper and darker than the night itself completely blotted out the sky.

BOOM!

A straight beam of black light shot past them. The powerful gale howled like a ravaging storm, blowing the dumbfounded group into the air.

Flailing their arms and legs as they struggled to stay balanced mid-air, the four of them stared down at the ground with eyes wide in horror, looking at where the arrow’s gale had struck.

They saw a fierce wind rip through the forest. One by one, massive trees so thick it would take a person’s full embrace to circle them were pierced through, crashing to the ground with a thunderous ROAR.

A three-foot-wide trench was carved into the ground, stretching all the way to the edge of the forest.

The four of them, Zheng Xiu included, hovered in mid-air and stared at the horrifying scene below. Watching the inhuman level of destruction, the same thought popped into all their minds:

’Is that a fucking arrow a Human can shoot?’

"Impossible!"

Chu Chengfeng and Xiao Buping, the two sworn brothers, cried out in shock, their thoughts perfectly in sync.

Far away, perched on a branch, Xie Luohe slapped her forehead and laughed. "Oops, I overdid it!"

THUD!

Zheng Xiu landed on his ass, grimacing in pain.

As Xiao Buping fell, his clothes snagged on a branch, leaving him hanging in mid-air.

But Chu Chengfeng didn’t forget to look cool even as he fell. He grabbed the stunned and unresponsive Wen Shishan, held her in his arms, and landed on his back to cushion her fall.

THUD!

The impact of the landing made Chu Chengfeng’s mouth fly open, and he spat a huge mouthful of blood all over Wen Shishan’s astonished face.

"Mr. Feng!"

Thinking Chu Chengfeng was dead, Wen Shishan clutched his "corpse" and wailed, "I, Wen Shishan, will not live in this world alone! I will follow you to the Netherworld and be your star-crossed lover in our next life..."

She recalled how Chu Chengfeng hadn’t forgotten to shield her at the moment of life and death. All their past grievances and conflicts scattered to the winds, no longer mattering at all.

After all, a person’s death is like a lamp going out.

An image appeared in Wen Shishan’s mind: herself, clutching Chu Chengfeng’s body, her face a mask of sorrow, leaping into the vast, churning sea.

Wen Shishan was hugging Chu Chengfeng so tightly his bones were cracking. He struggled to curse at her, "Alone my ass! Star-crossed your sister! Get the hell off me! I’m not dead yet! Cough, cough, cough, cough..."

"This one’s tough! Let’s scram!"

Xiao Buping’s expression shifted several times. He glanced at the National Preceptor’s corpse, then at the damned couple on the ground, tangled up and inseparable. He spat under his breath, tore off the piece of his clothing snagged on the branch, and dropped down. In his haste, he’d even blurted out some underworld slang.

Cursing, Chu Chengfeng pushed Wen Shishan away. She got up reluctantly, her eyes filled with watery tenderness and the joy of a happy ending after much suffering.

"Hehehe!"

"Kill, kill, kill!"

"Big Sister is mighty!"

"Big Sister’s Martial Arts are peerless!"

"Big Sister’s archery is like a God’s!"

"B-B-B-B-B-B-B-Big..."

"Big my ass! Blindy, if you can’t talk straight, then shut your trap!"

"B-b-b-b-b-but I-I-I-I-I—"

Joyful shouts echoed from all directions.

Mixed in with a few strange arguments.

Just as Chu Chengfeng pushed Wen Shishan away, he heard the shouts from all around. His face changed dramatically, and he cried out, "Yunhe Village?"

The fact that Xie Luohe was here obviously meant she had been following him the whole time.

The wolfish and tiger-like howls now echoing through the forest made Chu Chengfeng understand one thing in an instant—the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.

He had thought he was the oriole.

He never expected there to be a hunter behind the oriole.

"Smart! Too bad there’s no prize!"

A group of ferocious-looking bandits surrounded them.

One of them—a scrawny, cross-eyed man with a bad case of scalp ringworm—bowed and scraped as he waited for another man to step forward.

"S-S-S-S-S-S-Second-in-Command, I-I-I-I-I-I-I..."

The man being welcomed by the stuttering, cross-eyed lackey was clearly a leader among the bandits. He sent the man sprawling with a slap. "Get the hell out of here! I’ve told you before, if you can’t talk straight, then talk less!"

"S-S-S-S-S—"

The man nicknamed Blindy lay on the ground, staring at the magnificent-looking man with an expression of pure adoration. The sound "S-s-s" kept stuttering from his mouth, as if the single syllable was about to reveal the man’s identity—"Second."

"Hahahaha!"

The hundred-some bandits, greatswords resting on their shoulders, roared with laughter.

The man’s chest was bare, covered only by a simple, open jacket. His hair and chest hair were both thick, giving him a wild and rugged appearance. Yet, beneath that thick hair and burly chest was a handsome face that could rival any courtesan in the city, with fair, delicate skin. Rugged and delicate, gentle and bold, resolute and soft. These two completely different styles melded together in one person, creating an incredibly powerful visual contrast.
