Chapter 100: The Unseen Realm

First-Mate Dawn stood on a sandy beach located a few kilometres away from RedSand Central Town. It wasn’t the same beach that the ships were docked at, as she wished to avoid being disturbed.

In her hand was the Crescente Spear.

The silver crescent-shaped blade point shined beneath the moonlight, giving the treasure a strange power that could only be felt by its wielder.

This was the power to traverse through an alternate realm called the Unseen Realm.

As she held the weapon in her hand, she felt a strong desire to enter this realm.

According to her research, which was very minimal as not much was known about this realm, it didn’t present any dangers in the sense of monsters and sea creatures. However, traversing this realm put a great toll on the user’s mind and body.

As long as they did not try to travel too far, they would be safe. And according to the treasure, the distance you could travel was determined by your rank.

Still, these risks weren’t the biggest issues that Dawn had to face. The biggest was its second negative effect.

[Negative Effect II ~ When wielded, the user will slowly become a worshipper of Lunarti, the Reflected Moon God of the Sea.]

Luckily, wielding the weapon referred to using it in combat or traversing the Unseen Realm. Otherwise, just holding the weapon would have caused her problems.

The Reflected Moon God of the Sea, Lunarti.

Dawn had tried to do her research on this god, but could find out nothing about them. She asked Blodwen, Zaliah, and even Lencho, yet none of them had an answer to give her. This only heightened the risks.

Dawn stepped towards the water at the beach. In the distance, she could see the reflection of the moon on its surface.

Is her presence only shown in the later oceans?

After trying to do her research, Dawn had spoken to Roseus right before he headed out with Lencho and Blodwen. She had asked him what his opinion was on her using the weapon.

Roseus was completely honest, yet at the same time, he might not have been the best person to ask, even if he was the captain. He enjoyed taking risks in hopes of gaining high returns as a reward.

He had told her that she should experiment with the weapon once and see what changes came with it. If she got the inkling that this moon goddess was dangerous, then she should never use the weapon again.

"..."

Dawn was wearing no shoes, so her bare feet rested in the warm water as she stared out into the sea.

A tiny crab was slowly approaching her, just barely about to exit the water.

Flies buzzed above the water in masses. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Then, she activated the treasure’s positive effect.

She held on tightly to its shaft and closed her eyes, focusing on the powers that flowed deep within. All of a sudden, it felt like she had entered a deep sleep but could still open her eyes and remain conscious.

When she did, she almost fell onto her arse.

The world was no longer the same as it once was. Everything was black, white, and dark blue. The world had shifted in colour, and everything fell silent.

The crabs that had been walking on the beach beside her had disappeared. The flies that buzzed over the water as they travelled were no longer there. The moon above her head... it could not be seen.

Dawn remained perfectly still, scared to move anything but her eyes. She knew that if she moved, her body would begin reacting to the effects.

Come on, Dawn, stop being afraid. You chose to do this...

Dawn swivelled her head to the side, looking down the shore of the beach.

It felt like she was moving through thick mud, but her body did not become tired or begin to hurt yet.

Okay...

Next, she pivoted her body and took one step. That was when she felt the effects take place. They were nothing too serious, but immediately, she was able to gauge just how far she would get before her body wouldn’t be able to take it anymore.

She continued moving, holding the spear in hand. After ten metres, her body started to hurt and became sluggish. Still, she managed to make it another ten metres down the beach with her feet dragging through the shallow water before finally, she had to drop the effect.

Suddenly, it felt like she had been dragged from her sleep.

When she came back to her senses, she found that she was no longer in the Unseen Realm. Instead, she had returned to the real world.

However, she was no longer in the same position as she was before.

She looked back to where she had previously stood right before entering the realm. The crab that had been approaching her had not moved an inch. The flies buzzing above the water were in the exact same positions as they were before.

Dawn found herself stunned for a few seconds. She finally understood what Lionheart had told her about the Unseen Realm.

To those who had not entered with her, it would appear as though she had teleported.

In other words, time did not flow for others whilst Dawn was within the Unseen Realm.

She tried hard to think about what the implications of this were. Could others enter this realm too, and if they could, how would time flow for them?

Then, just as she had this thought, a new thought entered her mind. One that forced itself to the front of her mind.

In fact, it was more of an urge. It wished for her to step into the water and look at her reflection. At that moment, the urge felt so strong that she did not even consider whether there would be any dangers.

The next thing she knew, Dawn was standing on the water, looking down at her reflection that was cast back up at her.

She saw her scarred eye, as well as the long blonde hair that cascaded over her face.

Then, she heard a voice call out to her. One that strangely came without any pain at all.
