Chapter 40: Honored Healer
Ben Dover, previously not correcting the misunderstanding that he was some type of mahji....was simply because he had no idea what that meant.
Well, now he does....and it doesn’t bode well for his future here since he has technically been assigned the role of mahji healer in training.
To put things into perspective....
From the several scrolls Ben had just read, which contained ample amounts of information on several things that had previously been unclear.
It explains that this world of Aeoleon has in abundance something called natural power.
And a person, depending on their innate levels of affinity with this natural power, be it from their bloodline or being heaven-blessed.....
Can at any point in time, with proper guidance, or for geniuses, without any guidance at all....begin to draw in this natural power into themselves, refining themselves from the inside out through different stages in development described in lengthy details in these scrolls.
As abundant as natural power is in this world...most people are born with zero affinity, and live and die as mortals, which is quite common since a large population of people in this world is in this category.
But just as well, most of the average person here, with ample assistive resources and time, can at least advance to what’s called the opening phase, which consists of the apprentice to the warrior knight realms.
Anything beyond that would require impressive levels of affinity with natural power, or resources that cannot be easily quantified.
However, using resources to break through the opening phase would cement one’s foundations to the peak of the next phase for the rest of their lives. With no hopes of advancing any further.
So even with ample wealth, there is just so far one can reach without being naturally blessed.
The thing of note about this world is that usually, bloodlines seem to dictate the levels of affinity to natural power you are born with....that’s why the chances of someone of noble birth usually have the highest possibility of having greater natural power affinity compared to a commoner.
And this applies to all the known and documented four major races of this world. The human race, the elvish kingdom, the dwarves, and the Mysterious, spiritual being..... Ergons.
Those of noble birth have lines in their bloodline cemented in the surgical selection for bloodline mingling with those of similarly powerful affinity levels through generations.
And just as this world has plenty of those who lack these affinity levels..... There are others said to be blessed by the very heavens.
The mahji’s.
A mahji is always a knight... but being a knight does not make you mahji.
There are countless knights in this world....and of them, only a select few are blessed with the unique nature of a mahji.
Those called mahji’s, have their natural power innately saturated in them in very special ways, which leads to a mutated form of natural power.....
Allowing them to perform unnatural things.....twisting the very construct of natural power to fit whatever quirk this power mutates to.
So, in essence, mahji’s are mutants of this world.
There is no set path a mahji’s mutation can take, or what quirks they might awaken, but they have been generally categorized into support, combat, and anomalous quirks.
Of the support mahji’s, healers are the most sought after, and just like how mahji’s are impossibly rare to come across, healer mahji’s are even more so.
Mahji’s can be as harmless as a flower, or as destructive as a world-ending storm....depending on their nature and what quirk they awakened.
A certain overpowered tyrant was a prime example.
Usually, most mahji’s awaken one quirk, and those with incredible fortune can sometimes awaken two.
Only a rumored handful awaken three quirks.
Now here’s the problem for Ben.... he certainly was no mahji, but faerwyn is under the impression that he was....this was both beneficial to Ben and a burden.
Beneficial in that he could credit his soon-to-be speedy advancement levels in realm to him being a special type of mahji.
As is stated in the scrolls, where it would take a normal talented persons of this world at least two months of consecutive meditation practice to step into the opening phase and begin crossing through the apprentice realm....
It usually took moderately talented mahji’s two to three weeks, depending on the person.
But the problem was, the moment Ben finally steps into the Apprentice Knight realm as a healing mahji, he should be able to use his powers as a healer.....
But Ben was no healer...at least not the type Faerwyn’s expecting.
Since he is a medical doctor from Earth, Ben knew of modern ways to heal people, but nothing like the magical displays described in these scrolls.
"I just have to avoid having to heal anyone...."
"I mean...how hard can that be?" Ben thought inside, coming up with a plan.
If he couldn’t heal, he would simply avoid ever being put in a situation where he would have to.
"Wait!....who says I can’t even use these methods in these scrolls to raise my realm?"
"Why do I have to depend on this system?" Ben thought as a lightbulb went on in his head with his smile widening.
"I can grow strong....and not even have to use my sex points....I am a genius," he exclaimed delightedly as he attempted to unfurl one of the scrolls lying on the desk that contained the fundamentals for the opening phase.....
But suddenly, Ben heard his room door being pushed open as two beautiful and sexy new maids he’d never seen before stepped into his room scantily dressed like the others he’s seen before.
They had soft, respectful smiles on their faces, and in their hands they held wooden trays containing bowls of scanty small portion food and an assortment of fruits...most of which looked unfamiliar to Ben.
Reaching in front of Ben’s desk, together they announced respectfully....
"Good morning, honored healer... we bring you breakfast"
They proceeded to carefully set the trays down on Ben’s desk before slowly stepping back.
Ben’s attention was not on the scanty meal, but on the beauties that had just come into his abode....and at the fact that the both of them looked incredibly similar....
’Wait..... Identical twins?!’
