Chapter 118: Chapter 118 (2) _1
...
The next day, Xia Wan’an opened her eyes, and it was already noon.
Her other half of the bed was empty; Han Jingnian was nowhere to be found.
She recalled what had happened the night before; her face turned a little red, but she felt somewhat perplexed... Precisely speaking, it was Han Jingnian who was really puzzling... Did he take her for a pushover, sleeping with her without any explanation?
Xia Wan’an curled her lips, stretched lazily in the sunlight, then got up to wash.
When she came out of the bathroom, she put on a pink suit, seated herself in front of the dressing table, and was about to apply her skincare when there came a "pop" sound from outside, followed by the noise of "Crrrrash"...
Did it sound like the shattering of glass?
Xia Wan’an hurriedly ran out.
The living room was clean and tidy, nothing different from usual. She quickly checked the adjoining guest bedroom — nothing wrong there — and then instinctively pushed open the study door.
What met her eyes was a floor full of shards, of both glass and porcelain... Porcelain? Xia Wan’an instinctively looked up at the shelf — the porcelain piece from the Ming Dynasty was missing...

Damn! Who on earth could be so wasteful?!
Just as Xia Wan’an was cursing under her breath, someone called her, "Madam..."
Xia Wan’an turned to look: first at Han Jingnian standing by the desk, then at Zhang Te, who wore an unhappy expression on his assistant’s face.
Xia Wan’an blinked, shifting her gaze between the two men, then asked, "What’s happening?"
Han Jingnian remained silent, his face stern.
Xia Wan’an pinned all her hopes on Zhang Te instead.
Zhang Te took a covert glance at Han Jingnian, then sidled up to Xia Wan’an and whispered, "It’s about last night."
"What happened last night?"

"The MIX..."
Xia Wan’an immediately understood, realising Zhang Te was referring to the incident in which she was almost harassed: "Haven’t we settled that? Wasn’t the guy taken away by the police already?"
"Yes, Mr. Han wanted him to be detained, but this morning, the higher-ups called me, saying it’s inappropriate to keep him in. They asked me to give him a chance, since he had already spent a night in detention. I didn’t dare to make the call, so I came to consult Mr. Han."
"Mr. Han disagreed, and then the even higher-ups gave me a call."
"The guy wants to apologize to you in person. He said he regretted his drunk and disorderly conduct. I think, if he can get the higher-ups involved, he must be pretty influential. And, Madam, you didn’t suffer much harm..."
Zhang Te didn’t continue, cowered under the glare from Han Jingnian.
Upon hearing this, Xia Wan’an understood: "I see. Let’s release him then. I didn’t suffer much last night; in fact, I bit him once! Besides, he has already spent a night in jail, which is enough punishment. Even though he was at fault initially, it wasn’t an unforgivable crime!"
Zhang Te nodded continuously, almost to the point of openly applauding Xia Wan’an.
"I think, to be human, we need to be magnanimous. No need to be mortal enemies when we can be friends!"
With that, Xia Wan’an turned to Han Jingnian. She was about to ask him, "What do you think?" But before she could utter a word, Han Jingnian spoke as soon as their eyes met: "You’re right."
