Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Then You’re Pretty Detestable Too

"I’m willing to go to the Royal Palace with you."

Yun Qiong and the others were shocked. They thought they were in for another fight with Qiao Yi, but to their surprise, Qiao Xixi spoke up first.

Qiao Yi’s expression darkened again. "Xixi..."

Qiao Xixi quickly turned and grabbed Qiao Yi’s hand. "Father, Yun Ji’s beast soul can’t suppress the monsters for much longer. If we want to get rid of those monsters for good, we have to find the source of the Dark Primordial Stone."

Qiao Yi frowned. "What does that have to do with you going to the Royal Palace?"

"The Beast King might know where the source is."

At the mention of the Beast King, Qiao Yi’s expression grew even uglier. "Even if she knows, she won’t tell you."

Qiao Xixi pressed her lips together. "Father, I’m the ’spring’s eye.’ They won’t let me leave so easily. Jin Ling and the others can’t fight anymore. Why don’t we go to the Royal Palace first and play it by ear? At least we can let them recover a bit before we try to leave again."

Qiao Yi glanced at the men covered in blood, his brow furrowing even deeper.

"Are those useless mates of yours the only thing you can see?"

Qiao Xixi was speechless.

Qiao Xixi looked at Qiao Yi pleadingly. "I’m worried about you too, Father."

"Hmph."

After placating Qiao Yi, Qiao Xixi turned back to the Beast Guards.

"I’m taking my father with me. You don’t have a problem with that, do you?"

Lei Lie looked at Chi Yan. The Beast King’s orders were to imprison Qiao Yi in the Watchtower. Besides forcing him to reveal Qiao Xixi’s whereabouts, the more important reason was to have him help fight the monsters when they emerged.

Now that Qiao Xixi had been found and most of the monsters were suppressed for the moment, the Beast King would have to decide whether Qiao Yi should still be imprisoned here.

But the main issue was that if they refused, Qiao Xixi would very likely threaten them with her own life.

After a moment of silence, Chi Yan nodded.

"Fine. Qiao Yi can go with you to the Royal Palace."

Seeing Chi Yan agree, Qiao Xixi breathed a sigh of relief. ’These Beast Guards aren’t completely unreasonable after all.’

She hurried over to Feiyan and the others. Seeing their faces covered in blood, Qiao Xixi’s heart ached.

Feiyan was indeed severely injured. He took a breath, his voice weak. "I won’t die... COUGH, COUGH."

Blood was still dripping from Sunxiao’s fingertips, but when Qiao Xixi’s gaze fell on him, he discreetly moved his hand behind his back.

"They’re just minor injuries."

Jin Ling rested a hand on Sangze’s shoulder, trying to straighten his back, but the moment he moved, the pull on his wounds made him suck in a sharp breath of cold air.

Qiao Xixi said urgently, "Don’t move."

Even Sangze’s face was covered in bloodstains.

Xijing’s Jue Sha Clothes were almost completely dyed red.

Qiao Xixi bit her lip and supported the nearest one, Feiyan. He wanted to say he was fine and could walk, but his body was more honest than his words.

Sangze, the least injured, supported Jin Ling. Qiao Yi frowned for a moment, but still went over and helped Xijing up.

"All these years, and you’ve barely improved at all."

Xijing lowered his eyes and said nothing.

As they passed Canglan, Qiao Yi shot him a fierce glare.

A crack appeared on Canglan’s icy face. Just as he was about to glare back, Qiao Yi walked away, supporting his charge.

Sunxiao had just started to walk when a hand steadied his arm.

"Let me help you."

Sunxiao shoved his hand away without a word and limped after Qiao Xixi.

Qiao Xixi looked back at him, her heart aching, and held out her hand.

The coldness in Sunxiao’s eyes softened, and he gently took her hand.

Watching the family’s retreating figures, Yun Qiong let out a tsk-ing sound and sidled up to Sunxuan, who wore a complex expression.

"Tsk, your kid doesn’t acknowledge you. Serves you right for opening your mouth and saying he was already dead."

His gloating expression made Sunxuan want to wring his neck.

Sunxuan’s serpentine pupils suddenly constricted into slits. Before he could bare his fangs, Yun Qiong quickly scurried away.

「Back in the stone room at the Watchtower.」

Qiao Xixi had just finished crying, and her eyes were still red. Now, as she removed the beast-hide clothes from Feiyan and the others and saw the crisscrossing wounds on their bodies, tears welled up uncontrollably again.

She had known coming here that it would be a tough fight, but seeing them so badly injured still filled her with guilt and sorrow.

Watching his precious daughter cry while trying to wash their wounds, Qiao Yi’s own heart ached even more. He stood, took the wooden bucket from Qiao Xixi’s hands, and pulled her to her feet.

"Let me do it. You go wait outside."

"No, Father..."

Qiao Yi gave her no chance to refuse, half-dragging her outside. Before Qiao Xixi could speak, the wooden door shut.

"Father, I won’t cry anymore! Let me in to help them."

"Trust your father."

The words had hardly left his lips when Qiao Xixi heard a chorus of pained gasps from inside. She began to pace anxiously by the door.

"This is something all adult males must experience." A cold, slightly hoarse voice made Qiao Xixi turn around.

When she was underground, she had only been focused on suppressing the monsters and hadn’t noticed Sunxuan. She’d been surprised to see him when they came out, simply because his aura was so similar to Sunxiao’s.

Qiao Xixi frowned in disagreement. "Getting injured isn’t some badge of honor for males. They feel pain, and when they hurt, I hurt too."

Sunxuan’s crimson, serpentine pupils flickered with surprise for a moment, as if he never expected Qiao Xixi to say such a thing.

"Are you bonded with Sunxiao?"

Although he already knew the answer, Sunxuan still asked. It wasn’t until he saw Qiao Xixi nod in confirmation that a complex emotion stirred in his heart.

Qiao Xixi looked at his features and asked, "Are you... Sunxiao’s father?"

Sunxuan didn’t deny it.

Qiao Xixi’s brow suddenly furrowed. "Then you’re pretty detestable too."

Sunxuan was taken aback again, waiting for Qiao Xixi to explain why he was detestable, but after tossing out the remark, she just turned back and pressed her face against the wooden door, listening to the sounds from within.

"Father, please let me in to help."

No one inside answered. Only after Qiao Xixi had pleaded until her throat was dry did the wooden door finally open.

Qiao Yi walked out, a look of resignation on his face.

"That impatient?"

Qiao Xixi forced a smile. "Not at all, not at all. I trust you, Father. Now it’s your turn. Let me see your injuries."

Qiao Yi’s eyes darkened slightly. He didn’t want Qiao Xixi to see the endless scars on his body that had healed over and over again.

"Sangze already treated me just now. I’m fine."

Qiao Xixi looked at Sangze, who nodded, his eyes clear and innocent.

Qiao Xixi knew that the simple, honest Sangze would never lie to her.

She looked toward Jin Ling and the others. The blood had been washed from their faces, and they had changed into the new beast-hide clothes she had brought out. Although they still looked pale, they weren’t as frightening to look at as before.

"Are you all done yet? Let’s get going."

Chi Yan’s voice sounded from outside the door.

Qiao Yi was the first to step out. "What’s the rush? My daughter’s mates can barely walk. You’ll have to carry them."

Lei Lie snorted, a puff of air shooting from his bull-like nose. "Are all the young males these days as weak as cubs?"

"Are you going to carry them or not?"

Lei Lie was clearly unhappy about it, but he agreed nonetheless.
