Chapter 429: Chapter 429: Sacrifice
"Xixi, you’re just my cub! To hell with being some spring’s eye! You come back to me!"
Qiao Yi’s roar shook the heavens. The pressure from the blast of his beast soul energy instantly pulverized the emerging monsters.
Jin Ling and the others also charged toward the black claw like madmen.
"Xixi."
Chi Yan and the others exchanged a look, each seeing the shock in the others’ eyes.
The spring’s eye of the Spring of Life actually still existed!
If they hadn’t seen with their own eyes that the monsters couldn’t get near Qiao Xixi, they never would have believed it.
As long as the spring’s eye was revived, these dark forces would be suppressed forever.
Chi Yan swatted a monster away and turned to lunge at Qiao Yi and his group.
"Qiao Yi, you stole your female cub away back then because you knew she was the eye of the Spring of Life. It was your selfishness that got so many beastmen killed."
Blocked by Chi Yan, Qiao Yi’s rage hit its peak. He opened his mouth and bit down viciously on Chi Yan’s shoulder, tearing away a chunk of flesh and blood.
"You want to sacrifice my cub for your own peace? In your dreams!"
"Xixi!"
Sunxiao slithered rapidly toward Qiao Xixi. But just as he was about to get close to the black claw, a figure blocked his path.
Sunxuan stared at Sunxiao, a flicker of shock in his grim, serpentine eyes.
"Sunxiao? You’re still alive!?"
Sunxiao frowned impatiently. "Get out of my way."
He whipped his long tail at Sunxuan.
Sunxuan frowned and moved forward, blocking him again. "You can’t suppress that thing! Don’t go near it!"
"I’ll say it again. Don’t stop me from saving Xixi."
Killing intent erupted in Sunxiao’s crimson, serpentine eyes, which held only the desire to save Qiao Xixi.
"Nonsense!"
Sunxuan immediately shifted into his beast form and quickly coiled around Sunxiao, trapping him.
"ROAR!"
Another black claw slowly emerged from the ground.
At the edge of the Thunder-swallowing Forest, the monsters broke through the beastman soldiers’ blockade and swarmed toward Beast King City.
"Ah, there are monsters! The monsters are here!"
"Help! Run!"
Yu Ye watched the surging tide of monsters, frozen in fear.
"Yu Ye, quick, go!"
Yu Ye looked up and saw a flying monster diving at him. Terrified, he turned and fled toward Beast King City.
In just a short time, a cacophony of wails filled Beast King City.
Deep within the Watchtower, Qiao Xixi watched as Jin Ling and the others’ fur became soaked with blood. She saw Qiao Yi desperately trying to get to her, and her ears were filled with the screams of innocent beastmen being slaughtered by the monsters.
She slowly raised her hands, and as they moved, her body began to dance.
Her silver-white hair cascaded down like a waterfall, tracing crimson arcs as she moved. A strange, enchanting blush appeared on her pearlescent skin.
"No, Xixi, stop!" Yun Ji’s pupils constricted violently. He tried to move forward but was blocked by Yun Qiong.
"Holy Priest, you knew all along she was the spring’s eye! Why didn’t you activate her true form sooner? Are you still going to stop her now? How many more people do you want to see die at the hands of these monsters?!"
Yun Ji’s pale eyes gradually turned crimson. The weakness of his beast soul made it nearly impossible for him to break free from Yun Qiong’s powerful grip.
As the Holy Priest, he knew full well that only Qiao Xixi could completely suppress the monsters.
But he also knew that if she did this, she would no longer exist in this world!
As Qiao Xixi’s dancing grew faster, strands of green light burst forth from her body.
The strands intertwined in the air, forming a gigantic droplet. At first, the droplet was very faint, but as Qiao Xixi danced, it gradually grew fuller, its luster becoming more radiant.
The moment the black claw touched the halo of light, it recoiled quickly as if it had been burned.
From the darkness, a hoarse voice filled with rage boomed, "I will never let you suppress me again! ROAR!"
A surging torrent of dark light rushed toward the gigantic droplet.
Qiao Xixi opened her eyes. Her movements faltered as she felt a wave of weakness, as if her strength was being drained from her body.
She glanced at Feiyan, who had fallen to the ground and was being protected by Sangze. Taking a deep breath, she gritted her teeth and continued to move.
Meanwhile, in the Black Panther Tribe, the cubs, who should have been sound asleep, were tossing and turning restlessly in bed.
Qiao Lie closed his eyes several times only to open them again, unable to fall asleep.
He sat up. The moment he moved, he heard Sangqi’s voice. "Qiao Lie, what’s wrong? Can’t sleep?"
"Yeah. I... I feel really anxious."
"Me too. Could it be because we ate too much tonight?" Qiao Ang also sat up, rubbing his eyes. Usually, he’d be fast asleep by now.
The cubs heard a door open outside. Curious, they got out of bed and opened their own door to see Qiaoqiao walking out, holding a sobbing An’an. Behind them were Xiya and Mo Yan, their faces full of worry.
After Qiao Xixi and the others had left, the cubs had been in low spirits, so they had been sleeping together recently.
"Qiaoqiao, what’s wrong with An’an?"
The little tiger cub was crying her heart out, constantly squirming and trying to get down from Qiaoqiao’s arms.
Sangqi, worried Qiaoqiao wasn’t strong enough, quickly took the little tiger cub from her and tried to soothe her.
"Shh, An’an, be good. Big brother will hold you while you sleep."
The little tiger cub tugged on Sangqi’s clothes, sobbing. ’I’m so worried and sad, SOB SOB SOB! I want Mommy, SOB SOB SOB!’
Hearing the commotion, Feili quickly came out of his room to ask the cubs what was going on.
"Grandfather, I miss Mother and the others so much. When are they coming back?"
Feili sighed internally. He hadn’t been in high spirits these past few days either, always feeling like something bad was about to happen. On top of that, two small tribes had arrived recently, which made him feel very uneasy.
But Feili showed none of this on his face. "It should be soon. Your mother and father must miss you all very much. They’re probably rushing back as we speak."
Qiao Ang scrunched up his little face. He had a feeling Grandfather was lying to them.
Sangqi coaxed the little tiger cub for a long time before she finally cried herself to sleep in his arms.
But even in sleep, the little cub was restless, her occasional whimpers tugging at their heartstrings.
"Alright, all of you go back to sleep now. Tomorrow, Grandfather will ask the uncles from the Wing Clan to find out where they are."
"Okay, we understand, Grandfather Feili."
Images of the cubs flashed through her mind.
Qiao Xixi opened her eyes, a tear trickling from the corner.
Suddenly, the frantic voice of Little Demon echoed in her mind. ’Host, you have to stop and use the Instant Teleportation Card to get out of here! If you keep dancing, you’ll really be gone!’
Qiao Xixi didn’t stop moving. The glow of the droplet grew larger and larger, almost big enough to envelop the entire black pillar.
’If I stop, these monsters will break out of this godforsaken place completely. I can ignore the lives of others, but can I also ignore my father, Jin Ling and the others, and my cubs?’
Qiao Xixi didn’t consider herself noble. She had made up her mind to come here for the sake of everyone she cherished.
Suddenly, she leaped into the air, her entire being merging into the gigantic droplet.
Qiao Yi’s pupils trembled violently. "No!"
