Chapter 420: Chapter 420: They Have Come

The monsters, led by Kunlin, swiftly flew into the depths of the forest near the Heavenly Pool.

In the forest were several black pools, constantly emanating a dark aura.

Kunlin flew above the pools and, without a moment’s hesitation, dove headfirst into one.

The moment he was enveloped by the black water, a contented sigh echoed through the air.

Sangze ran to the base of a tree and, sure enough, found a fish scale shimmering with an iridescent light in the gloom.

"Follow the trail of scales."

The four of them followed the trail of scales deeper into the forest.

"Xijing, hurry and catch some more Fish Beasts. I’m hungry."

"Okay." Xijing acknowledged, then turned and dove into the water.

Qiao Xixi didn’t remain idle on the bank either. She headed into the forest to gather some large leaves and vines they would need.

She shifted into her beast form and leaped up into a tree. Just as she was about to get to work, she heard a significant commotion not far away.

She immediately froze, looking warily toward the source of the sound. Just as she was adopting an attack stance, she spotted a familiar figure racing toward her in the distance.

Qiao Xixi’s eyes lit up, and she almost called out instinctively. But she quickly calmed down. ’It could be a monster in disguise.’

"Xixi!"

It wasn’t until Jin Ling came to a halt at the base of the tree that Qiao Xixi was finally sure it was him.

"Jin Ling, I’m here!"

Qiao Xixi happily leaped down from the tree, but before her feet even touched the ground, Jin Ling had swept her into his arms.

Feeling his warmth and familiar scent, Qiao Xixi’s anxious heart finally settled.

"Jin Ling..."

Jin Ling held her tightly, wishing in that moment that he could fuse her into his very being.

Sunxiao and the others arrived soon after.

Hearing the noise, Qiao Xixi said, "Xijing and I were just catching Fish Beasts. Let’s go over there first. We can talk more when we get back to the shelter."

"Yeah, I’ll go help."

With that, Jin Ling headed for the riverbank.

"Let’s go."

With them there, Qiao Xixi felt much more at ease. She grew more talkative on the way back, telling them everything that had happened since she was separated from Jin Ling.
