Chapter 413: Chapter 413: You’ve Never Done These Things Before, Have You

Yun Ji lay in bed, his attention fixed on the activity outside.

She was back, and by the sounds of it, she was bustling about with great enthusiasm, humming a strange little tune.

It wasn’t that Qiao Xixi was particularly happy; she was just messing around out of boredom.

She piled up some firewood, started a fire, and set the prepared fish beast on a rack over the flames.

She mixed some mud, coated the Yellow Earth Fruits she had dug up, and tossed them into the fire.

While the fish beast roasted, she took some seasonings out of her storage space. Once the meat was nearly done, she brushed them on.

Just as it was almost ready, she heard the door open behind her. Qiao Xixi turned to see Yun Ji walking out of the room.

"I was tired of lying in bed, so I came out to stretch my legs."

"Oh, have a seat. It’ll be ready in a moment."

Yun Ji walked over to the fire, his gaze fixed on the roasting fish beast. He watched as Qiao Xixi placed the cooked fish beast onto a large, clean leaf, then arranged what looked like tasty crushed fruit beside it.

Qiao Xixi, ever so thoughtful, even picked out the most tender part of the fish beast and placed it on a separate clean leaf.

"It smells amazing." Qiao Xixi inhaled deeply, her appetite thoroughly whetted.

Yun Ji subconsciously swallowed.

His expression softened, and he reached out a hand. "Thank you..."

Qiao Xixi froze for a moment, then it dawned on her. "Oh, look at me. I almost forgot."

She put down the fish beast, grabbed a stick, and began to poke around in the fire. Soon, she pulled out a mud-caked bundle, cracked it open, and unwrapped the heat-discolored leaves inside.

"I got these just for you," she said. "Have a taste."

Yun Ji lowered his gaze. On the leaf were bizarrely shaped, multi-colored insects, all dead. His brow twitched.

Thoughtfully, Qiao Xixi even held the leaf up to his mouth.

Yun Ji gently pushed her hand away and forced himself to say, "I’m not hungry. Thank you."

Yun Ji stood up and casually picked up a few of the fruits she had set on the leaf. "I’ll eat fruit."

Qiao Xixi hummed. "That works. I know Huang Yue loves to eat fruit."

Yun Ji didn’t say a word. He turned, walked to a large rock nearby, and sat down. When Qiao Xixi glanced over a moment later, he turned his back to her.

"Members of the Wing Clan are so low-maintenance."

Qiao Xixi devoured the entire roasted fish. After eating two fruits to cleanse her palate, she let out a satisfied sigh, lay back on the grass, and opened her locator.

’Sunxiao has already met up with Feiyan... hmm? Xijing is actually heading this way. And Sangze and Jin Ling have closed the distance between them and Sunxiao’s group.’

It shouldn’t be long before those four meet up. But it looked like Xijing was heading straight for her.

"Time to continue your training."

Qiao Xixi would have preferred to rest a while longer, but she knew what she was about to face. It was wise to use every moment to practice, and Yun Ji was a genuinely good teacher.

"Sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose."

Yun Ji stood perfectly still, showing no sign of anger, just a hint of exasperation in his eyes.

"Alright, that’s enough training for today. Let’s go back."

Qiao Xixi was dumbfounded. ’That was the training? Just catching a few fish beasts?’

"I thought I heard voices just now. Did a monster show up?"

Yun Ji picked up a branch and began stringing the fish beasts on it.

"No."
