Chapter 431: Chapter 308: Spiritual Energy Enters the Body, Mutation

"Meow...???"

The Little Black Cat and the Little White Cat tilted their heads, looking at Zhou Tongtong, whose face had gone pale with fright. They let out a confused meow.

They didn’t understand why this little human was so scared. This big rat was a delicious meal!

The two stray cats wanted to thank Zhou Tongtong for the delicious beef she had given them yesterday.

So, early this morning, they had set out to find a gift for her. They managed to catch this tasty morsel just before she arrived, intending to present it to her.

"Get that big rat away from me!" Zhou Tongtong shrieked, her face white as a sheet.

"Meow..." The Little Black Cat and the Little White Cat looked at each other, confused. Then, the Little Black Cat picked up the large rat, ran into the bushes, and placed it under a big tree before returning.

When Zhou Tongtong saw the Little Black Cat carry the rat away to a spot she couldn’t quite see, the color began to return to her terrified, pale face.

"Meow... Why are you so scared? That thing is delicious," the two little strays asked, completely puzzled.

"Whew..." Letting out a long sigh, Zhou Tongtong patted her chest. She put one hand on her hip, still clutching the small basin with the other, and huffed indignantly.

"I’m not a cat! I don’t eat big rats! Don’t you ever bring me a big rat again, or I’ll just ignore you!"

"Meow... We just wanted to give you a gift! We didn’t know you don’t like big rats," the two little strays said, looking terribly wronged.

Zhou Tongtong saw the two strays staring at her with such pitiful expressions, and she scratched her head.

Then, she walked over to them, placed the small basin of beef on the ground, and reached out her two small, fair hands to pat their little heads.

"I’m sorry. I was too harsh just now. Thank you for the thought. Just remember, I’m not like you. I don’t eat big rats, so please don’t bring them to me again."

"Meow..." The two little strays nodded. ’Since Zhou Tongtong doesn’t like big rats, what kind of gift should we give her?’ they wondered.

’A big rat is a perfectly good gift, but she doesn’t like it. This is so hard!’

Just as the two little strays were puzzling over what gift to give Zhou Tongtong, an enticing aroma drifted through the air.

"Meow... It’s that delicious beef again."

"Hee hee! You must be hungry. I brought your favorite beef again. Go on, eat!" Zhou Tongtong said with a smile, seeing the two strays practically drooling as she beckoned for them to start their meal.

"Meow... Thank you. We’ll dig right in." The two little strays politely thanked Zhou Tongtong before dipping their little heads into the basin and beginning to munch on the fragrant beef cubes.

The beef had been diced by Xia Qing. At first, considering the two strays were still young, she had wanted to grind it into a mince! But Zhou Tongtong had objected, saying that beef cubes were chewier.

She insisted the strays would prefer chewing on beef cubes to eating mince, so Xia Qing followed her daughter’s advice and diced the beef.

"How is it? Is it good?" Zhou Tongtong asked with a grin, stroking their bodies as they ate heartily.

While she was petting the cats, a faint golden Spiritual Light appeared in Zhou Tongtong’s eyes. Compared to before, the intensity of the Spiritual Energy Wave she emitted had surprisingly increased quite a bit.

"Meow... It’s good," the two little strays responded with their mouths full.

As Zhou Tongtong’s hands petted them all over, an imperceptible, faint golden Spiritual Energy seeped from her two small, fair hands into the bodies of the two little strays.

The two strays, who were busy relishing the beef cubes in the small basin, were completely unaware of this.

Faintly, a glint of pale gold seemed to flash through the pupils of their round eyes.

...

After breakfast, Lin Li left his apartment. As he walked out of the building, he saw Zhou Tongtong playing with two little cats on a patch of grass in the distance.

"Meow..."

A black stray and a white stray were easily held down on the ground by Zhou Tongtong’s small, fair hands. She petted them over and over, and they let out extremely contented meows.

"These two strays are so good-natured, huh?" Lin Li muttered to himself when he saw the scene.

He then walked over to Zhou Tongtong and called out to her.

"Zhou Tongtong."

Zhou Tongtong was so focused on petting the two strays that she didn’t even notice someone approaching from behind until she heard her name. Only then did she turn around.

"Lin Li!"

A smile couldn’t help but appear on Lin Li’s face when he heard the cute little girl call his name so cheerfully.

The two little strays had been having a wonderful time playing with Zhou Tongtong, lying on the grass. But when they saw Lin Li approach, they immediately stood up, took a few steps back, and watched him warily.

’Why are these two little things so wary of me? Do I look like a bad guy?’

Lin Li had just seen how happily Zhou Tongtong was petting the two strays and had originally thought of coming over to get some pets in himself. But now, seeing how defensively they were acting, he abandoned the idea.

"Little Black, Little White, the beef you ate was from Lin Li. You can’t act like this," Zhou Tongtong said, looking down to scold the two wary strays.
