Chapter 213: Chapter 213: The Silver Princess, Empress of the Ring
The throne room of the Kentari capital smelled strongly of ozone and vaporized bug meat.
Lucifer stood near the shattered blue crystal throne, watching Princess Lyriana. The newly crowned Empress was currently bent over the massive, glowing control console previously occupied by her dead brother, rapidly inputting bypass codes.
"The automated orbital defenses are standing down, Emperor," Lyriana reported, her fingers flying across the holographic interface. "I’m opening a designated low-orbit holding pattern for Zephyria. The Aegis Wall will remain down in Sector Delta-Nine to allow your approach."
"Good," Lucifer stated smoothly.
He tapped his comms rune. "Vexia. Bring the city in. Anchor us in low orbit directly above the capital. Keep the Void-shield active."
"Moving into position now, Warlord," the Sanguine Princess’s voice crackled back through the link. "The view from up here is fantastic. It looks like a giant, metal hula hoop."
Lucifer cut the connection, rolling his eyes slightly.
He turned his attention back to Lyriana. She was a Level 45 Royal Engineer, and her efficiency was obvious. She wasn’t weeping over the destruction of her family’s legacy. She was actively rebuilding the security protocols to ensure her own survival.
"You mentioned a hidden sector," Lucifer said, his voice dropping into a low, demanding rumble. He stepped closer to the console. "Something the Princes were hiding."
Lyriana stopped typing. She took a deep breath, turning to face him. The heavy silver crown on her head looked slightly too large for her, but she wore it with defiance.
"It wasn’t just the Xenophage breeding grounds they were keeping quiet," Lyriana explained, her blue eyes dark with apprehension. "The founders of the Dominion—Emperor Hindley and his council—were deeply religious. But they didn’t worship the gods of the Silver Citadel. They worshipped the older, primordial entities."
"The Starweaver," Sarah breathed, stepping forward. The Oracle’s cosmic eyes widened. She gripped her scepter tightly. "Astrid."
Lyra nodded slowly. "Yes. The Goddess of Starlight. The Princes hated the old religion. It didn’t align with their focus on pure, mechanical supremacy. So, they sealed the Grand Temple of Astrid hundreds of years ago. They built the new industrial sector directly on top of it to bury it."
"Why didn’t they just destroy it?" Elara asked, her golden eyes narrowing suspiciously. The Twilight Sovereign leaned on her flaming spear. "If they hated the old gods, why leave a temple intact in the basement?"
"Because they couldn’t break the door," Lyra said simply. "The temple is locked behind an absolute, divine conceptual ward. You need to be a chosen champion of the Starweaver to even touch the handle without being vaporized."
She looked directly at Sarah.
"They couldn’t get in," Lyra continued. "But recently... something inside the temple woke up. A massive surge of cosmic energy spiked on the lower grid about a month ago. My brothers were terrified. They thought the old goddess was coming back to punish them."
Lucifer smirked. A month ago. That was when he had officially broken the timeline, shattered the Altar of Decay in the Deep Roads, and freed Astrid’s brainwashed children. The Starweaver had felt the shift across dimensions.
"She wasn’t coming to punish them," Lucifer stated smoothly. "She was ringing the doorbell."
He turned to his council.
"We are going down to the temple," Lucifer announced. He looked at Lyriana. "Show us the way."
"The lower levels are still crawling with leftover Xenophage," Lyriana warned, picking up a heavy, customized plasma pistol from under the console. "My brothers fed thousands of people to the swarm down there. The bugs won’t care about my crown."
"I don’t care about the bugs," Lucifer said coldly. He tapped the hilt of his ruby-red longsword. "Lead the way."
The descent into the bowels of the Ringworld was a stark contrast to the gleaming, sterile silver of the upper palace.
Lyriana led Lucifer, Elara, Lyra, and Sarah down a massive, hidden freight elevator. As they sank deeper into the artificial continent, the pristine durasteel gave way to rusted, dripping pipes and flickering emergency lights. The smell of biological rot grew intense.
The elevator groaned to a halt.
The doors slid open, revealing a sprawling, cavernous industrial sector. Massive, dormant conveyor belts stretched into the darkness. The walls were heavily coated in the familiar, dark green, pulsating fleshy webbing of the Xenophage.
"The temple is at the end of this sector," Lyriana whispered, gripping her plasma pistol with both hands. "Keep your eyes open. The Warriors like to hide on the ceiling."
Lucifer didn’t whisper. He walked off the elevator with heavy, echoing steps.
"Let them hide," Lucifer said smoothly.
He didn’t draw his sword. He didn’t want to waste time swinging a blade at low-level trash mobs. He wanted to clear the path instantly.
As they walked down the main thoroughfare, the fleshy webbing on the walls suddenly ruptured.
Hundreds of Xenophage Warriors poured out of the dark, screeching their terrifying, clicking war cries. They scrambled down the rusted pipes and charged across the durasteel floor, their razor-sharp scythes raised to slice the intruders to ribbons.
[System Warning: Hostile Swarm Engaged!]
[Entity: Xenophage Warrior (Level 55)]
[Quantity: 400+]
Lyriana raised her pistol, her hands shaking slightly.
"Don’t shoot," Lucifer ordered smoothly.
He didn’t activate Gravity Crush. He used a different tool from his arsenal.
"System," Lucifer commanded, his void-swirling eyes locking onto the charging swarm. "Activate the Highest Blessing of Death. Target: Localized Environment."
He didn’t need to strike them physically. The blessing from Morrigan granted a 5% chance of instant erasure on *every* attack, magical or physical.
Lucifer channeled a massive, wide-area pulse of his Warlord aura. It wasn’t designed to deal damage. It was designed to hit every single entity in the room with a microscopic wave of aggressive intent.
The invisible wave swept over the charging swarm.
It hit the mathematical probability check instantly.
There was no explosion. There was no fire.
The front line of fifty Xenophage Warriors simply ceased to exist. They were deleted from reality in mid-stride, their screeching abruptly cutting off. The bugs behind them tripped over the suddenly empty air, tumbling wildly across the durasteel floor.
Lucifer didn’t stop walking. He pulsed the aura again.
Another seventy bugs vanished.
"What... what is happening?" Lyriana gasped, lowering her pistol in absolute awe. "They aren’t dying. They are just... gone."
"Erasure," Elara explained smoothly, walking beside the new Empress. The Twilight Sovereign sounded profoundly smug. "The Warlord made a deal with the Goddess of Death. He doesn’t have to kill things anymore. He just unsubscribes them from reality."
Lucifer pulsed the aura three more times as they walked.
By the time they reached the end of the massive industrial cavern, the entire swarm of four hundred Level 55 monsters had been completely, flawlessly eradicated. The durasteel floor was completely clean.
"We are here," Lyriana whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and deep reverence.
They stood before a massive, colossal door set directly into the solid bedrock of the Ringworld.
The door was not made of metal. It was forged entirely from pure, solid, blindingly bright silver starlight. Intricate constellations were carved into the surface, pulsing slowly with an ancient, calm rhythm. The heavy, dark green Xenophage webbing that coated the surrounding walls aggressively stopped three feet away from the door, unable to breach the holy aura.
"The Temple of Astrid," Sarah breathed.
The Star-Touched Oracle stepped forward, leaving the safety of Lucifer’s side. She looked at the massive door like a child looking at a long-lost home.
"The Princes couldn’t open it because they tried to force it," Lyriana explained, watching Sarah. "They used laser drills and plasma cutters. The door just absorbed the energy."
"It doesn’t open with force," Sarah said softly.
She walked right up to the massive, glowing door. She didn’t raise her Scepter of Cosmic Alignment to smash the lock.
Sarah raised her small, pale hand and pressed it gently, reverently against the center of the largest carved constellation.
The door recognized her instantly.
[System: Divine Authentication Confirmed.]
[Entity: Star-Touched Oracle (Chosen of Astrid).]
[Status: Access Granted.]
The massive door did not swing open on hinges. The solid starlight simply dissolved, melting away like morning mist to reveal the interior of the sanctum.
Lucifer stepped into the temple behind Sarah.
It was a breathtakingly beautiful, serene space. The ceiling was a perfect, localized projection of a vibrant, swirling galaxy. The floor was polished white marble. In the center of the room sat a simple, elegant silver altar.
Hovering directly above the altar was a projection.
It was not a giant, imposing avatar meant for war. It was a life-sized, incredibly detailed holographic manifestation of Astrid, the Starweaver. She wore her gown of the night sky, her silver hair floating weightlessly around her sad, beautiful face.
She opened her eyes and looked directly at Lucifer.
"You kept your promise, Warlord," Astrid’s voice chimed, a soft, musical sound that filled the quiet temple. "You freed my children from the deep dark. You shattered the Rot Lord’s chains."
"I am a man of my word," Lucifer replied smoothly, crossing his iron gauntlets over his chest. "I did the job. Where is my payment?"
Astrid smiled softly. It was a gentle, motherly expression.
"You have conquered the earth, and you have humbled the Heavens," Astrid noted, her starry eyes scanning his dark armor and the powerful Sovereigns standing behind him. "But the cosmos is vast, Lucifer of Obsidian. And the true dark still lingers in the deep."
She raised her glowing, translucent hand.
"I offer you a trade, Emperor," Astrid stated. "A final task to secure your dominion among the stars."
Lucifer didn’t reject it immediately. He listened.
"Nocturna, the Goddess of Darkness," Astrid whispered, a shadow passing over her beautiful face. "She is a remnant of the old world, a sister to the Abyss. She survived the destruction of the pantheons by hiding in a deep-space altar, far beyond the reach of the Silver Citadel. She is currently gathering the scattered remnants of the Void Beasts, intending to launch a new invasion."
"You want me to kill her," Lucifer said flatly. It wasn’t a question.
"I want you to shatter her altar," Astrid corrected gently. "If you destroy her anchor, her power will dissipate into the cosmos, and the threat will end. In exchange, I will grant your Oracle the ultimate blessing."
Astrid looked at Sarah. The Starweaver’s eyes filled with profound, maternal pride.
"I will elevate her," Astrid promised. "I will grant her the power to eclipse the stars."
Lucifer looked at Sarah. The Oracle’s eyes were wide, shining with unshed tears at the presence of her Goddess. She wanted the power, not for herself, but to be a sharper weapon for his empire.
Lucifer turned back to the projection. A cold, highly satisfied smirk touched his lips.
"I accept the contract," Lucifer announced smoothly. "I’ll put Nocturna on the hit list."
"Thank you, Emperor," Astrid smiled.
She lowered her hand.
A massive, blindingly bright object materialized on the silver altar beneath the projection.
It was a flawless, spherical gemstone the size of a melon. It was not a polished diamond; it looked like a literal piece of a galaxy trapped in glass. It swirled with deep blues, vibrant purples, and brilliant silver light.
[Item Acquired: The Astral Moonstone]
[Tier: Divine Evolution Catalyst (Mythic)]
[Effect: Triggers absolute core evolution for Cosmic/Starlight entities.]
"Take the reward in advance, Lucifer," Astrid whispered, her holographic projection beginning to fade into the ambient light. "Prepare your Oracle for the dark. The universe is watching you."
The projection vanished entirely.
The temple was quiet.
Lucifer walked up to the altar. He didn’t pick up the massive gemstone. He looked at Sarah.
"It’s yours," Lucifer said smoothly, stepping back to give her space.
Sarah stared at the glowing, swirling universe trapped in the stone. She took a slow, deep breath, gripping her Scepter of Cosmic Alignment. She was about to step past the boundaries of a simple support mage, and she was entirely ready for the pain.
She reached out and placed her small, pale hands directly onto the Astral Moonstone.
