Chapter 59: Chapter59-Taylor’s Decision, Gathering the Candidates
"I accept!"
"I am willing to serve as an Infernal Envoy under Deus Initium!"
Taylor stood up from her chair in excitement. The sudden movement caused her to sway slightly, her aged body struggling to maintain balance. Yet, she quickly steadied herself against the armrest. The once-dull sapphire hue in her eyes seemed to glow with youthful radiance once more.
Her decision did not surprise Mia at all. Nodding, Mia said:
"I am currently the Infernal Scribe, temporarily overseeing infernal affairs. I will return for you tomorrow night. Once you enter the underworld, you will be forever separated from the mortal world. Use the time until dawn to bid farewell to your family."
"There's no need to keep your new role a secret—this is an honor bestowed upon you by Deus Initium."
Taylor nodded repeatedly, showing her understanding.
Seeing this, Mia finally left the room.
As she watched Mia's departing figure, Taylor was momentarily lost in thought. The mist that had once enveloped the room now seemed like an illusion. But the words "Infernal Envoy" had already taken deep root in her heart.
I may be old, but I can still serve Deus Initium!
She took a deep breath, her excitement gradually settling. Looking out the window at the slowly brightening horizon, she grabbed her cane and walked, step by step, toward her eldest son's room.
Her husband had passed away long ago, and at her side now was only her niece.
Knock, knock!
Hearing the knocking, her eldest son Samuel, who was already in his fifties, grumbled irritably:
"Who is it? The sun's not even up yet!"
"It's me, your mother," Taylor replied softly.
Hearing his mother's voice, Samuel instantly jumped out of bed. He hurriedly opened the door and, seeing his frail mother leaning on her cane, rubbed his eyes in concern.
"Mother, are you feeling unwell? Why are you up before dawn?"
Taylor shook her head.
"I'm fine. Go wake up your younger brothers—I have something important to say."
As she spoke, she entered the room.
"Mother, it's still so early. Is it really urgent?" Samuel asked, puzzled.
"Just go," Taylor urged, without further explanation.
Samuel felt a sense of unease but quickly threw on his clothes and hurried off to wake his younger siblings.
Meanwhile, his wife, who had also woken up, looked at Taylor in confusion before sitting beside her, gently draping a warm blanket over her shoulders.
Not long after, Samuel returned, bringing his brothers and sister with him.
"Come here and listen," Taylor began before anyone could ask questions.
"My time in this world is coming to an end. Just now, the Infernal Scribe of Deus Initium came to see me."
The moment she spoke, Samuel and the others shuddered. Sorrow clouded their expressions as they rushed to Taylor's side.
"Mother..."
Taylor was a well-known elder in the village. Hearing her announce that she was about to pass away was a devastating blow.
Yet, Taylor's expression remained calm. She looked at them with serene determination and continued:
"There's no need to grieve. I have lived for eighty years—there is nothing to regret. Moreover, I have been granted the opportunity to serve Deus Initium as an Infernal Envoy."
"Once I enter the underworld, I will be forever cut off from this world. That is why I need to settle a few matters with you before I go."
Her tone became solemn, and Samuel and the others immediately straightened their backs, listening intently.
As the eldest in the family and a respected figure in the village, Taylor had played a decisive role in many major family decisions. Their peaceful and stable lives had been, in large part, due to her guidance.
"First, Deus Initium is our village's greatest hope—our salvation. You must remain devoted to Him in your prayers. This is the most important thing!"
"You must also teach your children to revere and worship Deus Initium, for He has transformed our lives and brought us stability and prosperity!"
"Second..."
Gathering the Candidates
That night, Mia visited each of the 40 chosen individuals that Owen had selected.
None of them had long to live.
Even Taylor, with nearly a year left, was among the longest-lived candidates. Most of the others only had one or two months remaining, and many were suffering from illness.
Thus, when Mia offered them the chance to serve Deus Initium as Infernal Envoys, they accepted without hesitation.
They were already devotees of Deus Initium. They had personally witnessed His miracles and experienced His divine blessings in their village.
To serve Him directly? That was an opportunity beyond their wildest dreams.
They were fully aware that their bodies were growing weaker with each passing day.
Becoming an Infernal Envoy was far better than waiting for a slow and painful death.
The Next Night: The Departure of Souls
As night fell the next day, Mia returned as promised.
One by one, she guided the souls of Taylor and the others into the underworld.
As they arrived, she looked up at the temple floating above the mist, then bowed deeply.
"Mighty Deus Initium, I have brought the forty souls of your devotees.
"They have all willingly chosen to serve as your Infernal Envoys."
Hearing her words, Taylor and the others also lifted their gazes toward the temple.
Their hearts raced with excitement.
This was the closest they had ever been to Deus Initium!
Before, they had only been able to kneel before His statue, their prayers feeling as though they passed through endless time and space.
But now, they were truly standing before His divine presence.
Would they... finally see the god they had worshipped for so long?
Bestowing the Infernal Artifacts
In the Divine Space, Owen gazed at the Tier-2 Hellish Artifact, the Hell's Scythe, in his hand.
The mission required him to form a full Infernal Envoy unit of fifty.
Furthermore, their minimum power level had to reach Tier-2.
Currently, there were two ways to create Infernal Envoys:
Bestowing them with a divine position, which required 10 Divine Points per soul.Equipping them with Hellish Artifacts, which originally cost the same but also required additional time.
However, thanks to his new Domain Relic, he could now grant Infernal Artifacts for only 5 Divine Points, and the process had become much faster.
Clearly, the second method was the better choice.
Since managing fifty Infernal Envoys would be difficult, Owen appointed captains and vice-captains.
Each squad of ten Envoys would have a leader and a second-in-command, making administration far more efficient.
As he finalized his selections, golden droplets of divine energy fell from his hands, merging into the chosen captains. Their souls were strengthened, their power soaring.
At the same time, forty Hell's Scythes materialized in the hands of the newly appointed Infernal Envoys.
"From this day forth, you are my Infernal Envoys," Owen declared.
"You will be responsible for the souls and ghosts of Divine Space."
His voice was calm yet overwhelming, carrying the weight of divine authority.
In the depths of the underworld, Taylor and the others bowed in reverence.
Some even prostrated themselves, their voices trembling with devotion—

"Mighty Deus Initium, we shall serve You faithfully!"
The Hell's Scythes in their hands radiated chilling power, stabilizing their ghostly forms and instantly raising their strength to Tier-2.
For those chosen as captains and vice-captains, their power surged even higher—to Tier-2 Advanced!
Feeling their newfound strength, the Infernal Envoys smiled.
Even Mia, though she had not received a blessing herself, was thrilled.
At last—
With these Infernal Envoys, the underworld had truly taken shape!
As the Infernal Scribe, she naturally held greater authority.
