Chapter 456: Chapter 439: Martial Uncle?
(Special thanks to our first Alliance Leader, Dragon Roar Moon, for the recent 200,000-point reward. Awesome!!!)
Yue Shan pointed at Xie Tianhua, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "What did you just call him?"
"Uncle-Master," Xie Tianhua said as if it were the most natural thing in the world, even looking a little proud.
Yue Shan knew exactly who Xie Tianhua was. He was the number-two figure of the Taiyin Sect’s younger generation. Already powerful to begin with, his future had become limitless after being taken in as Mo Chen’s Closed-door Disciple. ’And a person like that is calling Wang Meng ’Uncle-Master’?’
"This kid? He has that kind of clout?"
Yue Shan genuinely felt that the world had gone mad. How could something so illogical happen?
"Hooligan, if you can become the daughter of the Treasure Artifact Sect Master, why can’t I be an Uncle-Master?"
Seeing that Yue Shan wasn’t putting on airs, Wang Meng reverted to his usual teasing manner.
"That was for my training, you get it?"
"I’m in training too."
"Ahem, Brother Xie, would you mind giving us a moment? I have a score to settle with this kid!" Yue Shan said.
Xie Tianhua smiled faintly. "No problem. Just call me if you need anything."
Once Xie Tianhua was gone, Yue Shan completely dropped her ladylike facade. She circled Wang Meng, looking him up and down, and even sniffed at him like a puppy, sending a shiver down his spine.
"Alright, kid, fess up. Who are you, really?"
"Wang Meng of the Holy Hall."
"Then how did you become an honored guest of the Taiyin Sect?"
"I was being hunted, Old Mo saved me, and then we became friends. Don’t you think I’m a pretty reliable guy?"
Wang Meng chuckled. He could be casual and act like a young man around Yue Shan, but he couldn’t quite liven up around Old Mo and the others.
"Brag, go on and brag. Would it kill you not to toot your own horn?"
Yue Shan laughed. Although she didn’t know why the Taiyin Sect valued Wang Meng so highly, she had to admit he was a lot of fun to be around.
"But really, thank you so much this time!"
"Don’t be so formal. It was mutually beneficial. I’m not used to you being so serious."
"Haha, you’re one to talk. I almost didn’t recognize you in that fancy getup."
"What, do I really seem that much like a boy?"
"Yeah, I’ve always thought of you as one of the guys."
"Hmph. We can still do that. I’ll just think of you as one of my sisters!" Yue Shan winked. That way, neither of them lost out.
They chatted for a while, both in high spirits. Yue Shan’s Cultivation path involved worldly engagement. After all, the Treasure Artifact Sect wasn’t a simple Cultivation Sect; its main business was selling Magical Artifacts. As the heir, Yue Shan didn’t want to be a frog in a well, so she traveled around to understand the bigger picture and better manage the Treasure Artifact Sect in the future.
Wang Meng strongly approved. ’She’s so smart.’ He could tell that Yue Shan had gained a lot from her travels. Working in isolation would only lead to falling behind. The Star Alliance’s strength lay in its communication, and Yue Shan was clearly a representative of the younger generation influenced by it.
Being with Yue Shan was undoubtedly pleasant. Her experiences gave her and Wang Meng a lot of common ground, and their views on matters were incredibly similar. A true confidant was hard to find in life.
Because of her relationship with Wang Meng, Yue Shan was also especially dedicated to the matter of healing Zhang Bai.
Yue Shan took the lead in the treatment, but Wang Meng wasn’t idle either. Besides monitoring the healing progress, he also had to spar with Mo Chen and learn Heart Spirit training methods from Zhu Zhun.
This was another wonderful period for Wang Meng to peacefully digest and consolidate his gains, the first since arriving at the Cultivation Academy.
Zhu Zhun also selected ten disciples from the Taiyin Sect. The requirements for practicing Heart Spirit Techniques were indeed much higher than for ordinary Cultivation Techniques. If one lacked innate talent in the Heart Spirit, no amount of hard work could make up for it.
Wang Meng was technically just auditing the lessons, but Zhu Zhun’s explanations of Heart Spirit Techniques, especially the fundamentals, had a profound impact on him. Unbeknownst to himself, Wang Meng had already entered the First Layer of Minor Perfection. His Heart Spirit had actually become very powerful, and with his hidden Divine Sense, it could be a formidable weapon if used correctly. He no longer had to rely on passive defense as he had before.
Unconsciously, Master Wang had already grown to a level that many could only dream of reaching.
It was just that Master Wang himself hadn’t realized it. Life at the Taiyin Sect was fulfilling, but he had to set aside some time every day to play with Cheng Cheng. Otherwise, the Little Princess would get angry, and if she got angry, Xie Tianhua and the others would be in for a rough time.
Wang Meng ran into Zou Chuang once. Zou Chuang looked at Wang Meng, his eyes burning with the desire for a battle, but he remembered the Sect Leader’s orders and could only endure. ’Patience is for a future victory.’
He wanted to fight Wang Meng at his strongest. With this motivation, especially a rival as immediate as Wang Meng, Zou Chuang’s Cultivation was now driven by a new force.
Once a person found their passion, their life would never be the same.
The hype for the Battle of the Other Shore hadn’t died down; in fact, it was only intensifying.
The Star Alliance was flexing its full power. It seemed this Battle of the Other Shore was the key—the key to unlocking a new era of unity in the Cultivation Realm.
Some special organizations, including the Immortal Commerce, also began to play along.
As the number one chamber of commerce in the Star Alliance, Immortal Commerce released two ranking lists for the event. They didn’t do this to promote others but to promote themselves, showcasing Immortal Commerce’s immense power.
The Top Ten of the Younger Generation. The rankings are in no particular order, but all on the list possess both strength and fame.
1. Mingren, Pure Land, Holy Light Demon Collapse Body. Upon his debut, he shook the world with unstoppable force. Estimated abilities: Devour and Dissolve.
2. Lin Jinghao, No Illusion Demon Sect, Nine Luminaries Cyan Dragon Body. Apart from a somewhat peculiar personality, he is a perfect model of excellence. Estimated ability: Dragon Power.
3. Jii Wanli, Ten Thousand Spirits Sect, Golden Wing Roc Body. Known as the eternally undefeated Sacred Body. Estimated ability: Speed.
4. Zou Chuang, Taiyin Sect, Silent Extinction White Tiger Body, also a Star-Killing Body. Estimated ability: Slaughter.
5. Wu Wang, Ghost Sect, Night Parade of Hundred Demons Body. Known as the ruler of the night. Estimated abilities: Control and Darkness.
6. Longyue, Holy Light Sect, Lofty and Refined Body. It is said that no Evil can exist under the Holy Light. Estimated abilities: Exorcism and Enhancement.
7. Ling Fei, Flower Fairy Sect, Peacock Ming King Body. Estimated ability: Magic.
8. Bu Qingyun, Cyan Cloud Sect. Possesses a powerful Life Artifact. Details unknown.
9. Li Yufeng, Wind God Sect, genius Sword Cultivator. Details unknown.
10. Wang Meng, Holy Hall, Five Elements Body. Details unknown.
This was the top ten list provided by Immortal Commerce. The Saintess’s Ninefold Heaven was not a combat-type Sacred Body, so she was not included. The first seven were universally acknowledged without question. The eighth and ninth were also long-famous, their reputations based on the performances of their Sects and themselves. Although they hadn’t manifested a Holy Statue, their strength was still formidable. A Holy Statue wasn’t everything.
As for Wang Meng, compared to the previous nine, he was a complete nobody. What little fame he had was merely from basking in Mingren’s glow. Immortal Commerce’s reasoning was simple: the fact that the Star Alliance allowed him to advance alongside Mingren was justification enough.
Someone like Fan Hong, despite having cultivated the Netherworld Dark Emperor Body, had not yet received a summons from the Star Alliance. Of course, his Sacred Body was not weak. Given time, it was only a matter of when he would be promoted to a member of the Star Alliance.
Even the best constitution required arduous training and the nurturing of a Sect; neither could be neglected.
In addition to this list, Immortal Commerce also released another, even more eye-catching list.
The Peerless Beauties List. This was what countless young Cultivators would pay the most attention to, perhaps even more so than the previous list. The Female Cultivators on it were undoubtedly perfect in talent, looks, wealth, and power.
This list encompassed the entire Star Alliance, not just those involved in the upcoming Battle of the Other Shore.
The Star Alliance Saintess; the Dragon Princess, Linglong; Longyue of the Holy Light Sect; Ling Fei of the Flower Fairy Sect; Yue Shan of the Treasure Artifact Sect; and Su Qing of the Evil Intent Sect.
If only Cheng Cheng were a little older, she would surely have a place on the list.
Wang Meng only found out about this list later, but he just chuckled. ’This kind of thing is meaningless. It only matters when you prove yourself in the Magic Arena.’ He was, however, quite impressed by Immortal Commerce’s capabilities; they even knew Linglong’s true identity.
It seemed there were no impenetrable walls in this world.
Of course, Wang Meng didn’t believe that these were the only strong ones out there. The Demon Race and Dragon Race hadn’t made a move yet.
Although the Dragon Race was rare, it wasn’t as if the Dragon Emperor and Linglong were the only ones left. He wondered if the Star Alliance’s big move this time would draw out experts from the Dragon Race and Demon Race.
Meanwhile, Wang Meng focused on his Cultivation. An opportunity like this was once in a thousand years. Heart Spirit attacks were a completely different discipline. Fortunately, Wang Meng had some experience, having been attacked a few times before. Under Zhu Zhun’s tutelage, Wang Meng truly came to understand what it meant to be a master.
Without using his Divine Sense, he was no match for Zhu Zhun at all. The Enchanting Demon’s use of the Heart Spirit had reached a state of perfection.
Zhu Zhun, however, was even more astonished. He couldn’t imagine how a Cultivator at the First Layer of Minor Perfection could possess such tyrannical Spiritual Power. It was powerful, of an extremely high grade, and inviolable. Furthermore, his Sea of Heart was incredibly stable, as if anchored by a Stabilizing Needle. This meant he could retreat unscathed even from opponents stronger than himself. Without a doubt, this type of constitution was perfect for cultivating Heart Spirit Techniques.
Zhang Bai’s recovery was also going very well, but it took a full month. Afterward, Yue Shan returned to the Treasure Artifact Sect with the Spirit of Divine Sense and the Artifact King Order.
A day later, Wang Meng finally performed the Life Wheel Skill on Zhang Bai. Zhang Bai’s situation was very different from Mo Chen’s. Back then, Wang Meng had just advanced in his cultivation, and acting on instinct had actually been for the best. Now that he had a better understanding, he had to be cautious when actively performing the skill.
Outside the door, Yuu Kunlun, Mo Chen, Zhu Jun, Zou Chuang, Cheng Cheng, and Xie Tianhua were all waiting, their hearts filled with anxiety. Everything was ready; it all came down to this final step.
The door didn’t open until the next afternoon, revealing an utterly exhausted Wang Meng. His recent studies of the Heart Spirit Cultivation Technique with Zhu Zhun had played a crucial role. By bridging the connection between the Life Wheel and the Heart Spirit, he had increased the success rate of Zhang Bai’s choice of fate by ten percent. Otherwise, the outcome would have been uncertain.
"Big Brother, are you okay?" Cheng Cheng grabbed Wang Meng’s large hand, rubbing it with her own small ones. Wang Meng’s hands were ice-cold.
Wang Meng managed a weak smile, gently pinching Cheng Cheng’s little cheek. He looked at the others. "Fortunately, I have not failed my mission!"
Yuu Kunlun and the others finally relaxed, their faces breaking into brilliant smiles. They had all been working hard on this matter for some time, and at last, it had a good outcome.
"Wang Meng, thank you!"
"Senior, don’t be so formal. But could you get me something to eat so I can catch my breath?" Wang Meng said with a laugh.
"Haha, right, right! Tianhua, hurry up and prepare it."
"It’s already been prepared."
Xie Tianhua was a capable man, able to arrange everything inside and out. Zou Chuang handled external affairs, while Cheng Cheng was the future core. The Taiyin Sect still operated on a three-core model. With Zhang Bai having passed through the gates of life and death, the future of the Taiyin Sect was more than just bright. (To be continued.
