Chapter 450: My Karma Is Here
I was ready to take this battle till the end. If it came to the point where I had to choose, my answer was quite obvious and needed not to be said.
’Of course, it’s Sulin... Feather, White Feather. Gods, what the heck is wrong with me, Cade! Focus! Put your head here.’
It was a minor slip, but there was no heck way I was choosing Sulin over White Feather.
Resounding such words to myself, for some reason, my throat tasted dry. And so conveniently, the memories of the atrocities of the few days before with Sulin chose this moment to torment me.
To be honest, she offered a new world of pleasure to me. She released a monster that I wouldn’t mind letting out.
And with her, I didn’t have to be scared, not because she could take it. There was hell no way that anyone could. Rather, it was because she asked for it.
She wanted it desperately.
And I gave it to her.
So for me, I was getting to discover that perhaps there was something that I was searching for after all.
Maybe, all my endeavors, all the jokes, the pointless layers of barricades meant to shield and confuse my intents even from my own self, were just coming from that childish attempt to be desired. To be loved.
But this was the wrong time and place for such emotions.
I gritted my teeth, feeling a slight pain in my chest.
"If only you didn’t steal from me..."
Meanwhile, Sulin was still looking super excited, like she was waiting for something positive to befall my face. Despite the fact that she was straining against the pressure of Emperor’s Presence, she didn’t seem to mind it.
"Say it, Cade! Say it! I’m waiting!"
I inhaled deeply and twisted the radiant chains around my fist, then moved towards her, one slow step after the other.
"Listen here, Sulin."
I spoke to her at my own breath pace, my gaze level.
"You not only robbed me, you want to kill my subordinate. Are you blind? Don’t you see White Feather is my summon now? Will you respect that and let her be?"
Sulin kept a cool smile.
"Your summon or not, the disagreement between us two has existed before you were probably even born. It has nothing to do with you. And you shouldn’t shackle yourself with such unnecessary responsibilities. You’re a man; you can choose to do whatever you want to do. As long as you have the power, no one can challenge you."
I frowned back at her, then scoffed a second later.
"You see, that’s where you make the mistake, Sulin. I am a man, yes. But that does not give me a reasonable excuse to act like a piece of shit. I chose these ladies, and I love them, so even if my life depends on it, I am going to stand with them and protect them."
Sulin was bleeding through her nose now. But the odd thing was, she paid it no attention in the slightest.
Instead, a maddening grin split her face.
"Oh... that’s sad. So sad... I could have had ten more children for you."
Just after speaking, she lunged forward. For someone suffering from the immense pressure that the Emperor’s Presence was putting on her, I certainly never expected that her speed was going to be more immense.
She reached me before I could even completely follow her movement.
"Focus, Cade, you’re looking the wrong way!"
When my eyes found her, what was right in front of me were tattooed boobs, and for a moment, I was stunned at the sheer mass and beauty.
Amidst it though, her hand hit me, and it felt like being slammed with iron.
My face swung sideways, and I staggered backward a few awkward steps.
"Oh, looking the wrong way again. That’s bad, Cade. Are you fantasizing about what we had when you should be fighting me?"
I wiped the blood that rolled down my nose away and looked down at the bruise that had immediately painted my jaw purple.
She slapped her hands together, as if dusting something off.
"Please, do not make this boring, baby boy. I will make sure we both enjoy ourselves. Who knows, we might even have this thing they call makeup sex."
I glared at her.
"You’re insane. There’s no way I’m ever going to fuck you again."
She sent me an enchanting smile.
"Is that so? Are you sure? You seem to be distracted. Is it not because you keep wishing it happened right here?"
I glowered.
"Fuck off."
Her grin grew menacing.
"As you wish, my cock."
Something suddenly rolled off her. And a strange crimson aura clashed against the red haze of Emperor’s Presence. It was like glass shattering against glass, and I could feel the effect of Emperor’s Presence reducing drastically.
Before I got the chance to process it properly, though, the atmosphere suddenly got darker. Both Sulin and I raised our heads.
Blue bolts were exploding with fury as the sky got darker, sending a dark shadow crawling across the entire snow pass.
My gaze darkened as the déjà vu of the suddenly dark skies hit me.
’What? It can’t be...’
Indeed, I had to be wrong. What would they be looking for here, all the way in the North?
I had been wrong.
For some reason, I had expected that my classmates were back in Aethermere, enjoying their lives. Who would have expected that our reunion was going to be here in the North?
A massive pillar of lightning suddenly fell in the distance. I think that was somewhere between where Kassie and that Altharion were fighting.
There was another movement... far, far away. Something was coming towards both of us, barreling with insane speed.
Sulin turned towards her right—to the outer area of the pass. I did too.
Even though we were both expecting that thing, and whatever it was, to come, it was safe to say the two of us were caught off guard.
I was the first hit.
All I saw was a blur of red. It was red hair. I even almost thought it was Kassie, until I noticed it was more of a darker red. Kassie’s hair was a vibrant red, and the height difference was so startling that I knew it wasn’t Kassie the same instant I had almost guessed it was her.
This red-haired girl was short.
And as she slammed the pommel of something into my belly, her face slowly rose, followed by a terrifying recognition.
My face paled. First from the recognition, before any pain even registered.
I didn’t think I felt any pain.
"E-Em... Emma?"
She pivoted as my stomach folded in, and then she slammed the flat of her sledgehammer against my chest.
I knew a world of pain that instant.
