Chapter 341: Chapter 341: Can I Still Trust You?

Upon hearing the bathroom door close, Adrian Quincy glanced over his shoulder, a proud smile gracing his lips.

Claire hadn’t come to kick him out immediately, which meant her resolve was already wavering. He was very much looking forward to what she would say to him when she came out.

-

When Claire Sinclair came out of her shower, she changed into a fresh set of clothes. She recalled the desperate things the Great Demon King Quincy had done to make her stay, and a wave of misery washed over her.

She didn’t want to bring up the divorce again, but she couldn’t overcome the block in her heart. It was like a thorn, lodged deep inside her.

’She was sure that someone like Nancy Lockwood wouldn’t be the last person to say such things about her. If she were to hear those words again in the future, could she really act as if nothing had happened?’

She didn’t know. She couldn’t even imagine it.

No matter how hard she tried, no matter how much she wanted to break through her limitations, she would always hear vicious rumors and sarcastic remarks.

Her heart, like her body, was fragile. ’What if I can’t handle it next time and I disappoint myself all over again? Won’t I just hurt him once more?’

’No, I can’t keep drifting along like this. Problems have to be solved right away, not dragged out.’

Just as she was about to look for the Great Demon King Quincy, he entered uninvited.

Claire Sinclair immediately said to him, "Mr. Quincy, I have something I need to discuss with you!"

Adrian Quincy, thinking she had finally come around, felt the corners of his lips lift unconsciously. "What’s wrong?"

Claire Sinclair pouted, and her bright, limpid eyes gradually began to film over with moisture. She looked aggrieved, as if tears were ready to fall at any second.

Adrian Quincy felt his chest tighten, and he quickly pulled her into his arms. "Claire, whatever you have to say, just say it. Don’t keep it bottled up."

"What is there to say to you? I dislike you more and more!"

"Why?"

"What if I get pregnant from what we did?"

"If you get pregnant, we’ll have the baby. Don’t you like children?"

Claire Sinclair lowered her head and muttered, "I like children, but I don’t want to get pregnant at a time like this. There’s so much I still haven’t done."

Adrian Quincy slowly leaned down and whispered something in her ear.

Claire Sinclair’s body trembled slightly. She lifted her gaze to meet his. "Really?"

"Mhm," Adrian Quincy nodded.

"I don’t believe you. I thought it was foolproof last time, but I still ended up pregnant... To think I trusted you so much back then. It’s your fault I didn’t even realize I was pregnant, your fault I was so careless, your fault our baby died..."

Adrian Quincy said in a voice only she could hear, "It will never happen again. Claire, give me one more chance, please?"

"Can I still trust you?"

"As long as you still love me."

"I..." Of course she loved him, but she couldn’t say it out loud.

’It was so easy to love someone, but so hard to say it out loud. She really couldn’t change her own timid nature.’

Adrian Quincy tightened his arms around her frail, limp body and said softly, "Claire, this time, I’ll be the one to wait. I’ll wait for the day you say you love me. No matter how long it takes, I will wait."

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll bring up divorce again?"

"That would only happen if I’d already made you suffer to an unbearable extent."

Claire Sinclair was suddenly speechless.

She was always utterly defeated whenever he showed her his tender side.

This man seemed to lack emotional intelligence, but in reality, he always managed to effortlessly conquer her heart whenever she was at her most desperate, leaving her with no escape.
