Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Being Threatened

Henry Hartwell said with a laugh, "I’m just afraid that double-edged sword will end up hurting you."

His words made Claire Sinclair feel a little timid. ’What if after this article goes out, some celebrity fans take it personally and come after me?’

Thinking of the worst-case scenario, Claire Sinclair chickened out. "In that case, I won’t publish this article. I’m too scared."

Henry Hartwell stared at her with a serious expression and began to criticize her. "Once you become a journalist, you can’t be afraid of offending people. We’re on the side of justice. A journalist’s silence only encourages unhealthy trends."

’More toxic "chicken soup"...’

Claire Sinclair forced herself to swallow this bowl of "soup." "Teacher Hartwell, I’ll publish it..."

And just like that, Claire Sinclair dropped a ticking time bomb on the entertainment industry, managing to offend a whole host of A-list celebrities with massive fanbases all at once.

The rabid fanbases of several stars banded together, swarming Claire Sinclair’s Weibo account to curse her out for days on end.

[You fucking hack, how dare you say our Pengpeng can’t act? Do you have any idea how hard he works?]

[Heh, you ugly hag. You think you’re so great just because you wrote some romance novel?]

[And here I was, liking your novel so much. But you go and write an article like this to slander my idol. I was a fan, but now I’m an anti!]

[You’re trash. Who the hell do you think you are? Our Shiloh Murray’s acting is amazing. Does she need to fake her stats???]

...

’Teacher Hartwell really is a prophet. My double-edged sword really did end up hurting me.’

Fortunately, it was just cyberbullying.

She had seen enough cyberbullying to become immune to it. Besides, she was no longer a rookie fresh in the workplace. She could handle this level of hate. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

She thought the matter would just blow over, but on the third day, Claire Sinclair received an anonymous package.

Ever since marrying Adrian Quincy, she hadn’t ordered anything online except for a single computer.

Why would someone suddenly send her a package?

Claire Sinclair was deeply confused. Driven by curiosity, she opened the package.

The next second, she saw a human head!

Her heart leaped into her throat, and she instinctively threw the package away.

Seeing this, her colleagues all looked over.

When everyone saw the realistic model of a human head on the floor, they all jumped in fright. Someone quickly cursed, "What is that? So twisted!"

"I thought it was a real head! You scared me to death!"

"Claire Sinclair, why would you buy something like this?"

Claire Sinclair frowned. "I didn’t buy it. I don’t know who sent it to me."

Just then, a colleague suddenly said, "Hey, there’s a letter here. Should we open it?"

The letter had fallen out of the package, happening to land right at that colleague’s feet.

"Give it to me!" Claire Sinclair walked over, took the letter back, and opened it herself.

Inside the envelope was a single sheet of white paper, covered entirely with the printed word for "death." The font sizes were irregular and the layout was chaotic, making it a chilling sight.

’This is a threatening letter, isn’t it?’

Realizing this, Claire Sinclair felt her blood run cold. She quickly stuffed the letter back into the envelope, placed the fake head back in the box, and ran to find Henry Hartwell, clutching the box in her arms.

"Teacher Hartwell, someone sent me a threat!"

Henry Hartwell glanced at the contents of the box and frowned. "It’s probably just a prank from some rabid fan. Don’t worry about it. Take it home and tell your husband about it. Let him figure out what to do."

That man was so busy; Claire Sinclair didn’t want to bother him in the slightest. "Mr. Quincy is very busy," she said. "I’d rather not trouble him with something so minor. Can I take this head and report it to the police?"
