Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Show No Mercy
Just then, a couple appeared at the end of the hallway. They were an exceptionally striking pair, the man handsome and the woman beautiful.
Mrs. Quincy’s heart lurched. She strode over to them. "Adrian, are you satisfied now? Are you happy now that your sister is like this, all so you could be with this woman?"
To hear Mrs. Quincy’s tearful accusation, anyone would have thought Claire Sinclair had committed some unforgivable sin.
Before Adrian Quincy could speak, Claire Sinclair had already stepped forward, unable to restrain herself. In a sharp voice, she said, "Mrs. Quincy, are you implying that it’s my fault your daughter got in a car accident and had her leg amputated?"
"You may not have harmed her directly, but you’re the root cause of all of this, Claire Sinclair! If you hadn’t insisted that Adrian sue his own sister, Yara would never have tried to run away, and the accident would never have happened! Our Yara was perfectly fine, but ever since she crossed paths with you, she’s ended up like this! SOB... What is my Yara going to do now...?"
As she finished, Mrs. Quincy began to weep again.
Claire Sinclair found this ridiculous. "I was volunteering in the south, helping people in the disaster area—doing something for the greater good. Your daughter gets into a car accident miles and miles away, and somehow, it’s my fault? Ha..."
’I’m minding my own business hundreds of miles away, and suddenly I’m to blame. How absurd!’
She laughed, turning to Adrian Quincy with a sarcastic tone. "Mr. Quincy, tell me, did my good deeds somehow threaten the foundations of the Quincy family business?"
Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed. He ignored her question and said to his mother, his face devoid of expression, "If we’re truly assigning blame, Mother, then you are the one responsible."
"W-what did you say? How could I possibly harm Yara? I couldn’t love her enough—"
"If you hadn’t coddled Yara so much, Mother, and secretly helped her run away, this accident would never have happened. And now you’re pinning the blame on Claire. Don’t you think you’re speaking without thinking?"
Mrs. Quincy was furious. "Yara is your own sister! And you want to sue her, to put her in prison for ten years! As her mother, am I supposed to just stand by and do nothing?"
Adrian Quincy retorted, his expression unchanged. "Anyone who does wrong must face the consequences. Even if it weren’t Yara, I would bring the villain who killed my child to justice."
"But she’s your sister, Adrian! Have you no humanity—"
Before she could finish, Claire Sinclair cut her off coldly.
"Why waste your breath on someone so incorrigible? Just tell me, are you going to sue Yara Quincy or not? If you’re having second thoughts, just say so. I won’t force you. I’ll get justice for my child myself. I won’t waste your time!"
As she spoke, Claire Sinclair pulled her hand from Adrian Quincy’s grasp, creating a distance between them.
Adrian Quincy forcefully pulled her back into his arms, pressing her head against his chest. His resolute, stirring voice rumbled through his ribs. "Not only am I going to sue her, but I’m also hiring the Viper Law Group. They will list every single one of her crimes and make sure she receives the most severe punishment possible. I will show no mercy."
As he spoke, his gaze fell upon Mrs. Quincy. His eyes were as predatory and merciless as a hawk’s, sharp as a blade, piercing right through her.
Mrs. Quincy shuddered, unable to argue. Instead, she turned her gaze to Claire Sinclair, her eyes filled with hatred.
Her blame was palpable and absolute.
But after the pain of losing her child, Claire Sinclair had built an impenetrable wall around her heart. She stared back, her face a mask of indifference, and suddenly asked, "And if someone tries to interfere behind the scenes, what will you do?"
