Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Meeting the Parents

The busybody relatives all chimed in, one after another, united in their opposition to her brother being with that woman.

Yara Quincy knew she had achieved her goal.

’Hmph... I already told my parents everything. They’re still fuming and refuse to come out to greet our guest, which is why I’m stuck here putting up with all these chattering aunts.’

’Now I just have to wait for my brother to bring that woman over. There’s definitely going to be a good show!’

...

「The drive from Quincy Manor to The Old Quincy Estate took half an hour.」

As the car pulled up to the gate of the large courtyard, a few of the older aunts, their gossipy hearts getting the better of them, walked over to get a look.

Claire Sinclair stepped out of the car, her heart pounding with anxiety. Her gaze was involuntarily drawn to the group of older women standing in the courtyard. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

’So many people... Isn’t this a bit much!’

And...

’The way they’re looking at me is so strange. I can’t quite place it, but I’m certain it’s filled with malice.’

’It seems... they aren’t very happy to see me?’

"Look how she’s dressed, so revealingly. One glance and you know she’s not from a decent family!"

"She looks like a vixen. It’s disgusting!"

"He should break up with her. Immediately!"

Their whispers were too low for Claire Sinclair to understand, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was deeply wrong.

Just as her mind was wandering, Adrian Quincy came to her side, took her hand, and led her into the courtyard.

As they walked in, the relatives all greeted Adrian Quincy, but their eyes never left Claire Sinclair, and not one of them said a word to her.

A faint sense of unease crept into Claire Sinclair’s heart. She instinctively tightened her grip on his hand and whispered, "Mr. Quincy, I can’t help but feel like the way they’re looking at me is... strange."

Adrian Quincy simply thought she was nervous and murmured reassuringly, "Don’t be nervous. I’m here."

"Mm," Claire Sinclair nodded.

Despite his words, the unease deep within her refused to subside. The malicious stares from the others were just too brazen.

Finally, they entered the inner courtyard. His parents and Yara Quincy were standing at the entrance to the main hall.

His parents’ expressions were grim; stony-faced would be an apt description. Yara Quincy, in contrast, wore an empty, forced smile, appearing perfectly at ease.

Adrian Quincy brought Claire Sinclair before his parents. "Mom, this is Claire."

In the car on the way over, Claire Sinclair had agonized over what to call his parents—Mr. and Mrs. Quincy, or Mom and Dad.

But now that it was her turn to greet them, she couldn’t get a single word out, her palms slick with nervous sweat.

’How pathetic...’

’We’re already married. I should just call them Mom and Dad!’

Finally, having made up her mind, Claire Sinclair called out, "Dad... Mom..."

Her voice was neither too loud nor too soft—just right.

The next second, Mrs. Quincy flew into a rage, as if someone had stepped on her tail. She grabbed Claire Sinclair’s arm and viciously yanked her aside.

It all happened so fast that Claire Sinclair didn’t even have time to tighten her grip on Adrian’s hand before she was dragged several steps away.

Immediately followed by a sharp SMACK, Mrs. Quincy slapped her across the face.

"Who are you calling ’Dad’ and ’Mom’? You little vixen! Do you think you’re worthy of my son?! Huh? Who gave you the nerve to seduce my son? Is he someone for trash like you to tarnish?"

Mrs. Quincy had been in a training camp in her youth. Now, despite being past middle age, she was still physically strong, and the strength in her hands was immense.

The force of the slap made Claire Sinclair’s head feel like it was about to shatter. A sharp ringing in her ears blended with the torrent of insults, threatening to destroy everything she had ever believed in.
