Chapter 182: Chapter 182: No, You’re Already Awake
"I’ll take your word for it," Claire Sinclair said irritably. "When I make my triumphant return, just make sure to bring your brain and be ready to get crushed. Otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle the loss."
"You!" Phoebe Lockwood was at a loss for words.
Claire Sinclair slung her bag over her shoulder and turned to leave.
As she reached the bus stop, she saw a familiar car parked by the side of the road.
The car window rolled down, revealing Aiden Howkins’s face. "Young Madam, Young Master Quincy sent me to pick you up."
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow, quickly walked over, and got in the car.
"Aiden, I need to go back to Evergreen Garden first to pack some clothes. I have to move into the training camp tonight."
"Young Madam, Nancy Lockwood has already brought your clothes to the manor for you. You don’t need to go back to Evergreen Garden."
"Alright..." ’It had to be Adrian’s idea,’ she thought.
The car drove slowly, taking almost half an hour to reach Quincy Manor.
Claire Sinclair got out of the car and hurried into the building, afraid someone would see her coming and going from the manor in broad daylight.
After going upstairs and entering her room, Claire Sinclair planned to pack her things before resting for a bit. However, as soon as she walked in, she saw Adrian Quincy lying on the bed, apparently asleep...
Claire Sinclair quieted her steps and instinctively walked to the bedside. She sat down, her eyes drawn to the man’s handsome face.
It was lunchtime, and this was the first time she had seen him taking a nap.
’He looks like a sleeping prince, making me want to just steal a kiss...’
’I can’t resist...’
Claire Sinclair slowly lowered her head and pressed her lips against his.
At first, it was a light, teasing exploration. But a few pecks weren’t enough, so she decided to try something deeper. Remembering how it felt when he kissed her, she let her feelings guide her and did as she pleased.
She was completely unaware that the man had opened his eyes at some point and was now silently playing along.
It wasn’t until both their breathing grew heavy that Claire Sinclair belatedly realized what was happening. Her eyes flew open, and she immediately tried to pull back.
The man hooked a hand around the nape of her neck while his other arm brought her body down, and he rolled over, pinning her beneath him on the bed.
Claire Sinclair’s mind went blank. She blinked innocently. "Wh-when did you wake up?"
"Maybe I haven’t."
"No, you’re awake!"
"Claire, you have to take responsibility for me."
"I..." ’Can I say no?’
The answer, of course, was no.
A perfectly good nap turned into the man’s "lunchtime," and he devoured Claire Sinclair from head to toe, leaving not a single crumb behind.
Claire Sinclair was filled with regret!
’Next time, I absolutely have to control myself! I can’t just start drooling over a handsome man the second I see one!’
’AHHHHH, this is so humiliating...’
Claire Sinclair buried her head under the covers. ’When did I become so unreserved, so shameless, so secretly wanton?’
’He must have been a bad influence on me!’
The blanket was suddenly pulled off her. Like a startled kitten, Claire Sinclair’s body shuddered, and she almost bristled.
Adrian Quincy was lying on his side next to her, propping his head up with one hand as he looked down at her flushed face.
"I thought you were crying."
"I wasn’t..."
"What’s wrong?"
It was hard for Claire Sinclair to say it. "It’s just... in broad daylight, it sends the wrong message."
"We were doing a perfectly reasonable thing in a place for resting, during a time for resting. I don’t see how that affects anyone," the man said, completely self-assured.
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "The soundproofing in here should be good, right?"
Adrian Quincy nodded.
"That’s good. If anyone heard us, I’d be too embarrassed to ever show my face again—Ah!" With a sudden cry, Claire Sinclair remembered something very important.
Adrian Quincy’s voice deepened. "What is it?"
"We didn’t use... you know, just now!"
"Use what?"
"You know! I could get pregnant!"
