Chapter 175: Chapter 175: A Rude Awakening

Adrian Quincy rested his hand on her head. "I’ll connect the system to your computer and phone then. If there’s any danger, you’ll know immediately."

"That’s more like it!" The girl finally revealed a smile.

Adrian Quincy slowly lowered his head, catching her smile with his lips, savoring it delicately before swallowing it whole.

Kissing with her neck craned back like that wasn’t very comfortable; it was making it sore.

Before long, Claire Sinclair couldn’t take it anymore. She pulled his head down, rose to her feet, and pushed him into a sitting position on the desk before draping herself over his shoulders.

’Now *this* is a much more comfortable way to kiss...’

Faced with her suddenly assertive kiss, the man had almost no power to resist. He lost the upper hand in an instant, left to her mercy.

’His Claire... so sweet when she takes the lead. Delicious. I have to savor this properly.’

...

The next thing she knew, Claire Sinclair was waking up in his bed, her back sore, legs aching, and arms tired. Her whole body felt like it was about to fall apart.

When she woke up, she was alone in the room. It was dark outside.

Claire Sinclair pushed her exhausted body upright. The moment she swung her legs out of bed, a wave of discomfort from between them nearly made her collapse.

’Figures. Nothing good ever comes from sleeping with him. It’s completely draining. I’m definitely going to lodge a serious protest later!’

Lost in thought, she suddenly remembered something more important. She hurried into the bathroom to shower, changed her clothes, and went downstairs to find him.

When she arrived at the office door, the two men who usually stood guard outside were gone. She figured it was after closing time and he was probably in there alone, so she knocked loudly.

"Mr. Quincy, I have something very important to tell you!"

The words had barely left her mouth when the door opened.

Aiden Howkins appeared in the doorway. Behind him stood a room full of people, all wearing the Quincy Manor uniform. The scene was as spectacular as a gathering of court officials in an ancient emperor’s study.

Claire Sinclair lost her nerve in an instant. "Uh, never mind! You all just... continue!"

With that, she thoughtfully closed the door for them, turned, and fled.

’Oh my god...’

’That was terrifying. Why were there so many people in his office at this hour?’

’Did something happen?’

Claire Sinclair couldn’t figure it out, so she put it out of her mind and decided to go out and buy something.

She wandered toward the main entrance, her steps halting when she saw a young woman walk in.

Yara Quincy quickly walked up to her. "Claire Sinclair, what are you doing here? Where’s my brother?"

"He’s in a meeting. He’s the one who dragged me—"

"Got it, thanks." Yara Quincy rudely cut her off and swept past her into the manor. She clearly had no interest in Claire’s situation; the question had been a mere formality.

Claire Sinclair was used to being treated rudely, but this time, it was his own sister. The interaction left her feeling deeply uncomfortable, as if she’d been jolted awake from a dream.

’I’m just a lowly newspaper reporter. I don’t have any special talents. How could I ever be worthy of the great Adrian Quincy?’

’Claire Sinclair, you’re just his bed partner. Don’t go thinking you’re the lady of the house. Nobody here takes you seriously.’

While he was still in his meeting, Claire Sinclair hurried out of Quincy Manor. She walked for a long time before she saw a taxi and stopped by the side of the road to hail it.

After finally flagging down a cab, Claire Sinclair immediately told the driver to take her to Evergreen Garden.

There was a pharmacy near Evergreen Garden. Claire Sinclair had the taxi drop her off at the entrance and walked inside.

Because what she needed to buy was a bit sensitive, Claire Sinclair kept her voice down. "Hi, I’d like to buy the morning-after pill."
