Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Time to Counter-attack

Claire Sinclair’s heart tightened, and she hurried in right behind him.

After closing the door, Claire Sinclair walked cautiously to the desk. "Teacher Hartwell, was there something you needed me for?"

"Not really. Just help me tidy up the office... YAWN..." After speaking, Henry Hartwell let out a lazy yawn, his imposing aura instantly vanishing.

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ’Was this guy serious just now?’ 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

’Oh well, it’s never wrong to follow the boss’s orders.’

Claire Sinclair rolled up her sleeves and started organizing the items on the bookshelf.

Henry Hartwell secretly glanced at Claire Sinclair’s busy figure from the corner of his eye, the corners of his lips turning up. "Claire Sinclair, I asked you to clean the office, and you don’t have a single complaint?"

"This is part of my job. Why would I complain?"

"With your current status, I have no right to order you to do anything."

Hearing this, Claire Sinclair took a deep breath and said earnestly,

"Teacher Hartwell, as the saying goes, one must respect their teacher. You’re my superior, and what’s more, my mentor. I didn’t come here to work just to be the queen bee; I came here to learn. If I wanted to be the one in charge, why wouldn’t I just stay at Quincy Manor, right?"

"Haha..." Henry Hartwell laughed, amused by her words. "You really are one of a kind. Then it’s settled. As long as you’re willing to learn, I’m willing to teach. Go on out and get to your work. You don’t need to clean the office. Tell Phoebe Lockwood to come in and do it."

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ’Is this really a good idea?’

’Not my problem,’ she thought. ’What’s it got to do with me? I just need to follow the boss’s orders.’

Claire Sinclair finished stacking the books on the last shelf before walking out of the office.

She walked over to Phoebe Lockwood’s desk and said politely, "Phoebe Lockwood, Teacher Hartwell wants to see you."

Phoebe Lockwood glared at her with red-rimmed eyes but said nothing, silently walking into the editor-in-chief’s office.

Claire Sinclair returned to her own desk and turned on her computer.

Suddenly, a colleague behind her exclaimed, "My god! M2L’s new products failed inspection and got investigated!"

Claire Sinclair’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly opened Weibo and, sure enough, saw that the official account for the Food and Drug Administration had posted related news—during a surprise inspection last night, some of M2L’s new products were pulled from shelves for suspected excessive levels of chemical substances!

Hahaha...

Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "I can cancel the contract with a clear conscience now!"

She was so excited that she hadn’t controlled her volume, and the entire office heard her cheer.

Everyone turned to look at her. Seeing how happy she was, they realized they had just spoken out of turn.

’So Claire Sinclair never wanted to do the M2L ad in the first place...’

Claire Sinclair knew it was time to strike back. She excitedly sent a message to Henry Hartwell: Teacher Hartwell, M2L’s new products failed inspection and were pulled. Does this mean I don’t have to endorse them anymore?

Henry Hartwell: I’ll send you a template. Edit it yourself and post it on your Weibo, and be sure to @Ethan Kingsley. Remember, your tone must be firm. This template will serve you well for a long time to come. You need to learn to protect your own rights and not let others lead you around by the nose.

Claire: Okay! Okay!

Henry Hartwell then sent over a well-worded template.

After Claire Sinclair read the template, she composed a post based on it.

You asked me to endorse your new products even though they failed inspection. It’s one thing for me to be duped by you, but what happens if other young women use your products and their faces are ruined? @M2L_Official, @EthanKingsleyNotWest, please give me and the vast number of consumers who trust your brand a reasonable explanation!
