Chapter 146: Chapter 146: I Feel Like I’ve Seen You Somewhere

Claire Sinclair whirled around. Her eyes met a perfectly handsome face, and her heart soared.

"Mr. Quincy, what are you doing here?"

"To use the restroom."

"Are you in a hurry?"

"What is it?"

Claire Sinclair gestured toward Phoebe Lockwood with her chin. "My colleague wants me to give her your jacket so she can return it to you. But I think that’s way too much trouble. Why don’t I just give it back to you now?"

Adrian Quincy’s icy gaze swept slowly over Phoebe Lockwood. Expressionless, he said, "I gave the jacket to Claire. What does that have to do with you?"

"M-Mr. Quincy, it’s not what you think..." Phoebe Lockwood desperately wanted to explain, but she couldn’t get a single word out.

She had imagined returning his jacket to him countless times. Now, that dream was shattered. Despair and mortification washed over her, and she wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Adrian Quincy paid her no more mind. His gaze softened considerably as it landed on Claire Sinclair. "If you run into any more trouble, you can call me directly."

"Okay," Claire Sinclair nodded obediently. "So, do you still want the jacket?"

"No need. Go on and have fun."

"Oh, okay. I won’t bother you then."

Adrian Quincy gave her a nod and walked into the restroom.

Phoebe Lockwood stared blankly at his retreating back. Just moments ago, she had arrogantly boasted that seeing this man was just a simple phone call away for her.

But in reality, she didn’t even have his number—only the landline for Quincy Manor. Claire Sinclair, on the other hand, clearly had his personal number.

’Damned bitch! Bitch!’

’Just you wait!’

Cursing viciously in her mind, Phoebe Lockwood stormed off.

The corners of Claire Sinclair’s lips curved into a delighted smile.

’Watching a moron get put in her place feels so damn satisfying.’

Claire Sinclair glanced back toward the men’s restroom, then turned and walked away.

Walking down a long hallway, Claire Sinclair saw a tall figure standing by a window up ahead. The light was at his back, casting him in silhouette against the pitch-black night.

The man looked a little familiar. She felt like she’d seen him somewhere before but couldn’t remember where.

Claire Sinclair walked toward him. As she passed by, the man suddenly turned, his deep, cold eyes landing on her face.

’Ah, I remember now! It’s him!’

’The devilishly handsome man from the electronics market. He was the one who kindly warned me that the computer I was looking at wasn’t any good.’

Orion Osborne stared into her limpid eyes, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. "We meet again."

He spoke in English.

Claire Sinclair responded directly in Chinese, "Who are you?"

"My name is Orion Osborne."

"I just feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before..." Claire Sinclair murmured.

This feeling of familiarity wasn’t just from their brief encounter earlier.

Orion Osborne offered a kind suggestion. "Perhaps we met when we were children."

’When we were children?’

Claire Sinclair’s childhood memories consisted almost entirely of pain, so she had forced herself to forget many things. No wonder she couldn’t remember him at all.

"I don’t remember anything from my childhood. Were we classmates? Or did we go to the same school?"

Orion Osborne’s brow furrowed. "You... really don’t remember?"

Claire Sinclair said nonchalantly, "Maybe if you showed me a photo from elementary school, I might remember something, but I honestly have no impression of you at all."

Orion Osborne didn’t say anything, but an inscrutable darkness clouded his eyes.

Seeing his expression darken, Claire felt a little flustered and quickly made an excuse to leave. "Sorry, I have something to attend to. I’ll be going."

"Wait," the man called out.
