Chapter 537: Chapter 537 He Brought a Knife to a Heavenly Tribulation Fight

The figure that emerged from the darkness was small and hunched, standing barely three feet tall.

At first glance, he looked almost insignificant, like an old beggar who had wandered into the wrong place.

However, the moment he appeared, the temperature in the room seemed to drop.

Dark robes covered his entire body from head to toe.

The fabric was old and worn, yet strangely untouched by dust or age.

The hood concealed his face completely, leaving only a pair of eyes visible beneath the shadows.

Those eyes glowed softly.

They were neither golden nor silver, yet they seemed to contain a strange radiance, like two tiny stars shining within an endless void.

An ordinary cultivator would have found it impossible to see through the mysterious robes.

Lin Feng was not an ordinary cultivator.

His gaze effortlessly pierced through every layer of concealment.

The old man’s true appearance was revealed before him.

He was ugly.

His face was covered with countless wrinkles that overlapped one another like dried riverbeds.

His skin was pale and stretched tightly against his skull.

His cheeks were sunken, making him resemble a corpse that had somehow escaped the grave.

Sparse strands of white hair clung stubbornly to his head while his body was so thin that it seemed little more than bones wrapped in skin.

Despite his frail appearance, Lin Feng could sense an ancient aura hidden beneath that decrepit shell.

This was not an ordinary old man.

This was a monster that had survived for an unimaginable amount of time.

The old man studied Lin Feng silently. Lin Feng studied him in return.

Neither spoke. Neither moved. The atmosphere gradually became heavier.

Bai Qing suddenly felt uncomfortable.

She could not understand why, but standing between the two made her feel as though she had become trapped between two ancient beasts.

One was calm and relaxed. The other was hidden beneath layers of mystery.

Just as she was about to speak, Lin Feng casually raised his hand.

His fingers traced through the air. Nothing seemed to happen. Yet everything changed.

The old man’s pupils immediately shrank.

"What did you do?!" he rasped.

His voice sounded like rusted metal scraping against stone. He turned toward Bai Qing.

She stood frozen. Her eyes remained open. Her posture remained unchanged.

Even a strand of loose hair that had been drifting through the air had stopped moving completely.

Time itself had been isolated around her. The old man’s expression darkened beneath his hood.

"You stopped time?"

Lin Feng shook his head.

"Not exactly."

The old man’s eyes narrowed.

Lin Feng calmly walked over to a nearby chair and sat down as though discussing the weather with an old acquaintance.

"I merely separated this area from her perception."

The old man’s eyes flashed.

Such a casual explanation only made the technique more terrifying.

There were many experts capable of stopping time for a brief moment.

There were far fewer capable of manipulating causality and perception so effortlessly.

Most frightening of all was the fact that Lin Feng had done it without revealing even the slightest fluctuation of divine energy.

The old man could not determine how. Nor could he determine when. Lin Feng leaned back comfortably.

"I would rather not let her see or know who you truly are."

His eyes settled upon the old man.

"Wouldn’t you agree?"

Silence followed. The old man’s expression became increasingly ugly.

For the first time since arriving, he felt uneasy. Not because of Lin Feng’s cultivation.

But because he could not understand Lin Feng at all.

Every instinct he possessed warned him that the young man before him was extraordinarily dangerous.

"Who are you really, Medicine King Lin Feng?" the old man finally asked.

Having lived through countless eras, he was certain he had never crossed paths with Lin Feng before this year.

An expert of such terrifying caliber had no right to be a nameless nobody.

Lin Feng smiled.

"That’s an interesting question."

The old man snorted.

"You know exactly what I mean."

"Do I?"

The old man’s eyes glowed brighter.

"I have lived for over eight million years."

The room trembled slightly.

"I have walked through eras. I have witnessed empires rise and fall. I have watched immortal sects disappear into history. Yet I cannot see through you."

Lin Feng’s smile widened slightly.

"Perhaps your eyes are finally getting old."

The old man’s face twitched. Very few people dared speak to him like that. Fewer still survived afterward.

Yet he did not attack. Because he wasn’t confident. And that realization disturbed him greatly.

Lin Feng slowly poured himself a cup of tea. The fragrant aroma filled the room.

"You should relax."

The old man stared. Lin Feng took a sip.

"Or do you really want her to see you as you are now?" Lin Feng asked as he slowly shook his head.

"Tell me, have you even looked at yourself in a mirror these past millions of years?"

The small old man fell silent for a moment.

Beneath the dark robes that concealed his appearance, his eyes flickered with complicated emotions.

Yet his hesitation lasted only an instant before his gaze hardened once more.

"You do not know her as well as I do," he replied calmly. "My Bing’er is not a shallow woman. She would never judge me by my appearance, nor would she look upon me with disgust. The bond between us transcends such meaningless things."

His voice remained gentle, but the pressure radiating from his body became increasingly terrifying.

"Give her to me, Lin Feng. Let me take her away. Otherwise, this mortal city and every living soul within it shall perish beneath my wrath."

The threat was spoken so casually that it sent chills down everyone’s spine.

"This is not good!"

Daoist Thunder Emperor shouted inwardly.

As one of the strongest cultivators in this Azure Heaven Continent, he could clearly sense the cultivation of the old man.

The two of them stood at exactly the same level... the peak and Tenth Stage of the Divine Tribulation Realm.
