Chapter 308: Chapter 307: The Agreement of Cooperation

Silence enveloped the room, and Colin felt his throat go a little dry.

The dwarves before him wore equally complicated expressions.

Over the long years, many dwarves of the Shadow Anvil Clan had actually lost their sense of belonging. Yes, this period had been so long that even the notoriously stubborn dwarves had begun to change. That meant there certainly weren’t many who would risk their lives alongside Durkin.

This explained why they needed help from outsiders.

’These dwarves would never risk facing an opponent that’s too strong,’ Colin thought. ’The loss of even one dwarf would be unacceptable to them. My proposal should be a pretty good one.’

"In that case, your party will need an expert in Dungeon exploration. We can send someone to join your team," Durkin said. "And it just so happens to be a Flying Thief, who will fill a gap in your party’s composition."

In this world, many people skilled in theft, stealth, and lockpicking ended up on the path of an Adventurer.

They might not be the best in a head-on fight, but they were true experts at scouting ahead, disarming traps, and picking locks.

Just as it was best to have a Ranger or a Forester to lead the way into the wilderness, it was best to have a specialist for the task when entering an Underground City.

Colin thought for a moment and said, "That works."

Hearing this, Langgrin let out a few gleeful laughs. He walked to the doorway and shouted outside, "Dorn! Get over here!"

After a moment, a gray-haired dwarf with a shiny bald head walked over and asked, "What’s going on?"

"Wait, he’s not the support you’re providing, is he?" Colin frowned. "Don’t you have a better option?"

Dorn walked over and rapped his knuckles on Colin’s Chest Armor. "Who are you looking down on, little pink-skin?"

"Dorn, you don’t have to stand guard anymore. You’ll be going with them," Langgrin said.

"Huh? What do you mean? You want me to join this bunch’s party?" Dorn said, his eyes wide. "This has to be a damn joke! Their team has a disgusting Half-Elf in it!"

At that moment, Durkin shot him a silent glance.

Even though Durkin hadn’t said a word, Dorn, who had been clamoring just a second ago, immediately fell silent and simply lowered his head.

"I thought we only had to take him along when we enter the Dungeon," Colin shrugged.

"You dare..."

"Party members need time to get used to each other, or it could be counterproductive," Durkin said. "I don’t believe you’re unaware of this principle."

Dorn reached out and rapped on Colin’s Chest Armor again. "Well? When are we going?"

"Orelia’s run into some trouble recently. We might have to wait a few days or even weeks," Colin shrugged.

"That’s fine too." Dorn crossed his arms and said sarcastically, "That’ll give me some time to prepare myself for working with a goody-goody Elf Princess."

"Let’s just hope you can out-curse her when the time comes," Colin said.

"Hmph. When it comes to dealing with bigots, I’m an expert among experts."

’If I weren’t afraid of this whole group of dwarves getting pissed off, I’d really call this guy a "shorty" just to see his reaction,’ Colin complained inwardly.

"Enough chit-chat. We only want the hides and chains you’re offering. As for these Dragon Beast heads, go see if you can sell them somewhere else." Donkexes snatched the [Dimension Bag] from Colin’s hand and stuffed the heads back inside one by one.

Colin asked, "Are the materials from White Frost processed yet?"

"In a few days. Don’t be impatient. Good things take time."

After Donkexes finished speaking, Langgrin suddenly stepped forward to look at the Armor Colin was wearing.

The Dwarf stared intently at the pale gold Chest Armor, then reached out and tapped it lightly. After doing all this, he asked in disbelief, "You learned how?"

"I think so. You could say I’ve successfully entered the next stage," Colin said.

At that moment, another thought suddenly popped into his head.

’It seems that even after getting a Specialty, the corresponding Skill Level still increases. If I keep practicing and get the next Specialty, what will it be? It’ll probably be a weaker one...’

Considering the importance of Specialties, Colin had no intention of trying.

He asked, "So, are you guys going to instruct me anytime soon?"

As he asked, Langgrin still hadn’t recovered from his shock. The other dwarves’ expressions also turned serious, as if they had seen a ghost.

"Langgrin?" Durkin broke the silence. He gestured toward Colin with his chin. "Teach him the next step."

"Alright then. Follow me," Langgrin said, waving his short arms.

Worried about Orelia, Colin said, "I’d better come back later. I’m a bit busy recently."

After saying that, he exchanged a few more pleasantries with the dwarves, then shouldered his [Dimension Bag] and quickly left the sewer.

Afterwards, Colin went to the grand market to ask around. Some craftsmen who dealt in taxidermy were quite interested in the Dragon Beast heads he had, but because the heads weren’t that big and many were damaged, the price wasn’t very high.

Compared to the Dragon Beast heads, the equipment he got from the Demon was much easier to sell.

Aside from the complete set of Plated Chain Armor, everything else sold quickly, as it was all in decent condition.

In the end, he made about a hundred Gold Coins.

Adding the three gold bars from Edwin, his total earnings came to a little over eight hundred Gold Coins.

By that calculation, everyone would get a share of just over two hundred and ten Gold Coins.

Colin tallied up his savings. Including this new money, he could probably scrape together a little over four hundred and twenty Gold Coins now.

He had earned so much from this one job. He hadn’t made this much from clearing out the Goblin Cave and killing White Frost combined.

But considering the effort spent scouting the Demon, and the psychological Damage from seeing those disgusting offerings, the money still felt a little insufficient.

In any case, Colin really didn’t want to deal with Demons again.

Muttering to himself, Colin walked to the Southern District, bought the same strawberry cream cake from the bakery he’d visited last time, and then headed straight for the apartment.

Arriving at Ale’s door, he reached out, knocked, and said, "Anyone home?"

"Come in."

After getting Ale’s permission, Colin pushed the door open and entered.

The two young women were sitting on the bed, leaning against the headboard. Ale was holding a thick book, and Orelia was nestled obediently beside her, quietly looking at the pages.

The necklace on her chest lay quietly on the blanket, shimmering with a faint silver light.

"Oh, my two lovely ladies, look what I’ve got here!" Colin said with a smile, showing them what he was holding.

"Mister Colin, you bought something so expensive again." Orelia said with a smile. "Is it for us?"
