Chapter 651: Chapter 243: The Joy of Power
Li Xin and Kathy reached a consensus; their working styles were different, but aside from concern, they maintained respect.
The sound of the door opening came from outside; Lin Fei and Jina had returned.
"Secretary Kathy."
"Editor-in-Chief Jina."
The two beautiful women smiled and greeted each other; Kathy’s cool elegance was never used at home.
Lin Fei got straight to the point and shared their plan of resigning to start their own Hex Bird Report newspaper.
"Great, I support it; as long as we can manage the conditions for running a newspaper, everything else is negotiable," Li Xin said. He had thought of this idea before, but the conditions weren’t ripe at the time.
"I’ll handle the Church Court side, not a big problem," Kathy said.
"Sister Na can manage City Hall, now the issue is the shareholders," Lin Fei said.
"I’ll contribute a share; with me involved, you’ll have fewer troubles," Kathy said. Currently, the three Hex Bird Reports in Dragon Capital have little to do with the Moon God’s Court, so the Church Court participating in one is no big deal.
What was difficult for Lin Fei and Jina was already a non-issue for Kathy.
Jina had prepared many talking points but didn’t expect that in just a few words, it was decided; this is the charm of power.
"Should we celebrate with a drink?" Li Xin suggested; if Aunt Fei had her own newspaper, it would be freer, and as for sales, he promised that wouldn’t be a problem.
"With the foundation Ah Xin provided, we can serialize ’Utopia Mountain: Tales of Enmity’ for six months, which will be enough to support a new newspaper," Lin Fei said.
"Once the paperwork is done, we should tell Xueyin; she’ll be very happy."
"Wait until everything is settled."
"What should we name our newspaper?"
Citizen, Justice, Bird...
The four of them looked at each other with many ideas but were unsure about a name.
"How about Freedom?" Li Xin suddenly said.
The three beautiful women thought about it and simultaneously showed smiles, "What an inspiring freedom."
"Hex Freedom Newspaper!"
"Cheers to freedom!"
Lin Fei was the happiest; she loved this newspaper career and didn’t really want to give it up if possible. She could endure workplace pressure but not harassment from superiors, preferring to lose her job if necessary. She thought she would be unemployed after resisting, yet she not only kept her job but also gained her own business.
"Ah Xin, how about this, you come up with three or four more ideas, with effects similar to those from a beauty contest," Lin Fei said joyfully.
"Now?"
"Now’s fine too; Sister Na and I can start preparing," Lin Fei said mischievously.
Li Xin blinked, "Aunt Fei, do you know what you’re asking for?"
"Ah Xin, I believe in you; you can do it!"
Li Xin couldn’t refuse Aunt Fei’s request, scratched his head, "How about a culinary competition? I’ll contact the Gourmet Association and launch a Citizen Series focusing on homemade dishes; their new elder is looking to develop this area."
The Gourmet Association’s homemade dishes???
Lin Fei and Jina exchanged glances and both saw the fervent glow in each other’s eyes.
"What else?"
"Hire celebrities as spokespersons, maybe release an attractive Hex photo for the front page; have an artist enhance it, make it glamorous and exaggerated; let them hold a Freedom Newspaper and give a thumbs up. Don’t attach content yet, just distribute it for free to build suspense," Li Xin said, scratching his head.
This time, even Kathy widened her eyes, "How many ideas does this kid have in his head?"
"Ah Xin, one more," Lin Fei asked, her face beaming.
Looking at Lin Fei’s smile, Li Xin couldn’t bear to refuse; he scratched his head, deep in thought, making Kathy burst into laughter at the spectacle, which seemed nothing like Li Xin’s indifference toward the Hundred Martial Hall and Slave Master.
Lin Fei and Jina were full of anticipation; in Jina’s eyes, Li Xin was becoming increasingly handsome, clearly a young man with great potential.
"Right, another minor idea to alleviate cost pressures when the newspaper has some sales; add a recruitment section in an inconspicuous spot for those looking for jobs or bosses in need of personnel, allowing bosses to post ads for revenue. Job seekers will buy the newspaper if needed, extending to something like missing person announcements," Li Xin suggested.
"Great, great!" Lin Fei and Jina cheered. As newspaper creators, they immediately sensed the immense potential. Why hadn’t they thought of such a practical and promising method before?
"With your three golden ideas, we’re even more confident! Ah Xin, let’s give you a share!" Jina proposed actively.
Li Xin waved his hand, "Aunt Fei can decide; what’s mine is hers, and what’s hers is hers. Oh, the ’Utopia Mountain: Tales of Enmity’ needs to buy back the earlier parts’ copyrights to make a limited edition bundle, perhaps holding a lottery for lucky readers in the Freedom Newspaper. The key is the limitation, print it with numbers such as a hundred copies limited for Dao Yuan Continent; it can attract many, even overseas."
Jina’s eyes gleamed green, "You’re too fortunate; where does one find such a child? Tell me!"
"The previous part’s copyright is with me," Kathy said calmly, "Originally, I planned to give it to you upon completion, but using it now is even better."
Upon learning that ’Utopia Mountain: Tales of Enmity’ was written by Li Xin, Kathy bought it from Hex Bird Report. She wasn’t very concerned; in a world with Hidden Power, strength is the core of authority and wealth. Without its protection, everything is a castle in the air.
Jina was an extremely intelligent woman; she sensed how much Secretary Kathy valued Lin Fei and Li Xin, a feeling entirely fitting for a family head.
The more it was like this, the more crucial it was to clarify everything before starting the venture. Coming from Ji Family, Jina had witnessed many struggles for wealth and power, but her personality wasn’t as invested, hence why she had a great relationship with Lin Fei; birds of a feather flock together.
Kathy holds 40%, Lin Fei and Li Xin contribute technology shares for 20%, Jina provides half the capital plus equipment purchase and management for 20%, leaving the remaining 20% for all other future responses of the newspaper.
Externally, Jina is the president of Freedom Daily, and Lin Fei is the editor-in-chief; concurrently, Jina will poach some like-minded editors willing to work with them from Citizen Daily. She had worked at Citizen Daily for over a decade and possessed enough leadership in this aspect.
Once decided, the two women began meticulous planning, including securing funds first; they estimated initial expenditures for venue purchase, equipment, renovation, and networking to be about 1 million Lira. Of course, they planned to start small and expand gradually as sales increased.
