Chapter 139: 139:Dinner

The room was still dark, with only a faint sliver of pale blue light slipped through the curtains, hinting that dawn was still several minutes away.

Silver stirred awake naturally; his eyes remained closed. For a brief moment, he simply listened. There was the quiet hum of the hotel’s ventilation, the distant chirping of birds beginning to wake, and the slow, steady breathing coming from the other side of the bed.

Then, soft blue light appeared behind his eyelids.

One notification after another unfolded across his vision.

The notifications lingered for several seconds before another appeared.

[Current Affection Points: 523 AP]

Silver quietly watched the translucent windows without moving.

"...Yesterday, huh."

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. The lack of reward for the Milestone made him really happy; getting everything he did with her rewarded was slowly making him uncomfortable and a little guilty.

He then remembered to give Ravenna a flower... eventually. A faint chuckle escaped him as he remembered her teasing smile.

"So this counts too..."

He looked at the other notifications. He had been getting them while training yesterday, so this wasn’t much of a surprise.

His swordsmanship had improved because he continued training. His Spatial Sense had become sharper through constant subconscious use. His Mental Capacity had grown from repeatedly managing multiple abilities.

And the Affection Points... Silver didn’t even need to ask where those had come from. The blue screen disappeared.

He slowly opened his eyes.

"...I don’t mind rewards like these."

He carefully climbed out of bed, with as little noise as possible, making sure not to disturb Ravenna. The cool floor met his bare feet as he stretched, rolling his shoulders before reaching both arms overhead.

His body felt refreshed. The soreness from integrating the Tier Two Beast Cores had nearly disappeared. His muscles recovered noticeably faster now, and even his breathing felt smoother.

After a few more stretches, he quietly walked toward the window and gently pulled one curtain aside.

The sanctuary was only just beginning to wake. Only a handful of people were already outside.

A pair of contractors jogged toward the Association carrying training bags over their shoulders. Several delivery carts rolled slowly through the streets as workers prepared supplies for restaurants and shops.

A baker had already opened his doors, warm light spilling out onto the sidewalk while the smell of fresh bread drifted faintly through the cool morning air. Store owners swept the fronts of their businesses and maintenance crews inspected lighting fixtures.

Silver rested one hand against the window.

"It’s peaceful..."

He genuinely meant it. It reminded him that there was more to living than simply becoming stronger. Eventually he stepped away from the window.

He glanced toward her bed. Ravenna remained peacefully asleep beneath the blankets, one strand of hair falling across her face.

For a brief moment he considered waking her as promised; instead, he quietly smiled.

"I’ll let her sleep a little longer."

He retrieved his training clothes from the wardrobe before changing as quietly as possible. He wore a simple black shirt, dark athletic trousers and comfortable training shoes.

He finished dressing and crouched down to tighten his shoelaces. As he pulled the final knot tight, a sleepy voice drifted through the quiet room.

"...You’re leaving without me?"

Silver froze. He turned around.

Ravenna was sitting upright on the bed, rubbing one eye with the back of her hand. Her usually neat hair was slightly messy after sleep, with several loose strands framing her face.

She blinked slowly, clearly still waking up. Silver couldn’t help smiling.

"No, I wanted to wake you up after I’ve finished dressing; I really couldn’t bring myself to wake you."

She lowered her hand.

"You said we’d train together; you’re going back on your word."

"I know, I did."

"So? Explain yourself"

He chuckled softly.

"I figured one extra hour of sleep wouldn’t hurt."

"It would."

Silver tilted his head.

"It would?"

"You’d start without me when you promised yesterday. "

"I was only planning to stretch while I waited for you."

"You’d still be training."

There wasn’t even a hint of accusation in her voice; she was simply stating a fact. Silver raised both hands in surrender.

"Fair point, I know I shouldn’t have done that. It’s more of a habit that I need to get rid of. I’m sorry for this. Forgive me this once."

He nodded toward the wardrobe.

"You should get changed; I’ll head out first."

Ravenna shook her head almost immediately.

"No, wait here. This is punishment."

"You sure?"

"We agreed."

She swung her legs over the side of the bed before standing, letting out a quiet yawn.

"We train together."

Silver smiled.

"Then we’d better hurry."

She looked at him curiously.

"Why?"

"Before the gym gets full."

A tiny smile appeared on her sleepy face.

"...Yeah. Sure."

She walked toward the wardrobe to retrieve her own training clothes. Without another word, Silver turned around and faced the window. He kept his eyes fixed outside while she changed.

After a minute, Ravenna’s voice came from behind him.

"I’m ready."

Silver turned back around. She had tied her hair into a simple ponytail, and her usual calm expression had returned. Only the faint traces of sleep lingering in her eyes hinted that she’d only just woken up.

He gave an approving nod.

"Ready?"

She nodded once.

"Ready."

Together, they left the room in comfortable silence and headed toward the hotel’s private gym, where another morning of steady training and perhaps something more awaited them.
