Chapter 210: Stay back
Just in time because now the monsters were not able circle him, instead they settled for a semi-circle of gnashing fangs. Azaroth set the space in front of him on fire, snapping heat that sent the monsters jumping back or burn.
But there’s simply too much of them that they surged forward into his flame and turned to ashes. Just then, the green smoke parted and Azaroth saw the Alpha standing at the middle of it all with gleaming eyes that shone with predatory intelligence.
It seems to be saying, ’use up your fire and then what? I have lots of wolves’
Azaroth smiled, more vicious than the wolves could ever do. It was the truth that his fire core is already running low but before that happens he know what damage he could cause.
The others are also fighting as hard, Catena created a wall for them as well and the three of them are fighting with their backs against it, using their senses to detect the monsters when they get close and then strike out with sword or skills. But each skills drain their core and its like the monsters are going for battle of endurance where they’ll wear them down and then the remaining monsters will take care of them.
Azaroth stiffened, and it’s working. They don’t even know the amount of wolves there’s there and the thick rotted smell is affecting them and it’ll only get worse as time goes on. They have to do this and now!
He called out an order. "Change of plans! Kill the monsters towards the boss! Our target now is the boss! It’s the one coordinator them!"
Taking his own order, Azaroth leaped forward. Immediately the monsters swarmed him, fangs snapping at his flesh. The forged on him kept most of it away but some got close. Pain bloomed on his shoulder as a wolf got close and clamped its fangs on his shoulder.
Azaroth grunted as he was thrown forward and that slight mistake made another bite down the hand holding his sword. Immediately he power his skill and then created fire behind him, letting it wash over him and made the wolf to release him with a pain yelp.
Azaroth himself got burnt but his resistance to fire made it minimal, with his heart beating fast he clenched his left hand into a fist and slammed it into the head of the monster biting his hands.
It let but want to bite him away but he stepped forward and kicked it in the chest so hard the monster’s shoulder got crushed. He gritted his teeth and then created a fire again but this time he didn’t just send it at any monsters.
Azaroth sent it into the ground around him and the flames flared around him, leaking up and reaching high. Creating some kind of flamy wall.
It bought him some time and he took deep breath, his thought spinning fast. ’Unlike the other monsters, these ones are good in team attacking and are used to attacking in a group. First they lower our visibility and they swarm us. If we don’t exterminate them as soon as possible they will break us down bit by bit and take us down!’
His will is still on his fire and it snapped in the air, keeping the monsters back. Azaroth took a deep breath, his red matched the fire that burns around him. Even now he felt his body healing as fast as it could draw energy from him, it’ll be even faster if he can focus only on that.
For now though, Azaroth sweeps his sword forward in an arc and all the fire followed the direction, whipping at the monsters like a leash, but even as one fall, three are there to take it’s place.
But no matter, Azaroth have decided to take the fight to the front. He gathered the remaining essence he could spared for his body then he leaped forward deeper into the smoke, slashing the air in front of him as he went.
Of course the monsters can see perfectly in the smoke and they followed him, their vicious growls growing higher. He ignored then as he jumped at the place he thought the boss was and his sword came down in a downward arc, but it cut nothing but air.
Azaroth tightened his hands on the sword in anger, his eyes turned redder as if the fire is now in his eyes, a deep melting red. The monsters crowded him again, snapped at the air with teeth that sounds like metal traps clamping shut.
"Stay back you munt!" Azaroth snapped, the command was followed by a flared of bloodlust that slammed into the monsters like an almost physical thing. They snapped back but it was meek and full of confused.
Azaroth straightened as more aura poured out of him, the monsters react by shielding away, that’s one of the problems with pack canine monsters, they follow power and that’s one of the reason they change Alpha position often.
This buy Azaroth some time as he reached out with his senses, looking past the wolves, he felt their powers pressed against him like small bonfire but that wasn’t what he was reaching for. He flexed it and made it bigger until he felt what he wanted. A bigger bonfire, thicker. The Alpha’s.
Azaroth locked on to that location then he lifted his sword as he blazed forward, he called fire and sent it spinning in a low arc to the left while he took the right. It worked and the boss leaped towards him as it avoided the fire.
Sword and fangs clashed in a shower of sparks as the monster intercepted his sword with its open fangs. The smoke parted around them and Azaroth saw the boss really well.
Dark eyes met red eyes and the monster created distance between them. It growled them roared out a shockwave that blasted more of the smoke apart. It’s a skill of sorts.
