Chapter 207: Blood
The monsters must have been from a crypt break nearby, they are the same dark red with yellow horns that glowed with power. Unlike the monsters they’ve fought before, this ones are intelligent to some extent and didn’t rush them, instead they formed a circle around them in the middle.
"They are trying to pin us on all sides." Stallus said, her back against the others and her slim weapon raised.
Azaroth shook his head at her. "Let’s use our skills here. We have to know how we can hold up with only our technique. Don’t use your weapons."
The monsters are cautious but also confident because they are more than a hundred of them. They growled and their small eyes narrowed as they rushed forward, their hooves trampling the ground hard.
Azaroth lifted his hand, although he didn’t need to and cast. "Fire wave!"
It was instant, heat gathered in front of him in bright orange so intense he could feel it on his skin even through the forged body and if he was still in the Initiate rank then he’s sure he won’t be able to handle it. Then it shot forward with a blast of shockwave!
Woosh! The monsters in front of him were running too fast to avoid it, some of them lashed out with their energy beam but it did little to stop the raging fire that washed over them, almost like molten liquid in its intensity and even their thick skins did little ti help them as they burned, so hard and fast bones snapped as flesh melted away.
He had taken up to seventeen away in one go! The essence settled on Azaroth and he checked his core. His fire core is eighty three percent full, meaning he could do this type of technique a number of times.
"Let’s see, I can be creative about this, that is the real use of fire manipulation." Azaroth said. Then he thought, It is the real use of any manipulation of all technique.
He used the technique again and fire jetted out in front of him but instead of just letting it go, he clamped his will tightly on the flames and then began to compressed it.
Azaroth knew why Awakeners just go for basic manipulation then as all his willpower was draining at an absurd rate and the splitting headache that descended made his head ache and he almost staggered.
But he’s Azaroth and he held tightly to the fire and kept compressing it, shoving more into the blazing Inferno until he couldn’t hold it together if he added more so he cut off the fire and now held a ball of compressed fire in his hand.
Azaroth struggled with the ball of compressed fire, his will on it shook and for a few seconds it looks aa if it would escape his grasp and burn him to crisp, but he clamped down tighter and then shoved the small ball forward into the second wave of charging monsters.
He was able to get it passed a few of them before the distance wore on his will and the fire escaped. Everything slowed as the fireball of compressed fire surged from its prison. A small flash of yellow light and an explosion of light shook the ground so loud it stopped the others from fighting and turned and flinched from the intense heat.
All the monsters in front of Azaroth were hit, and those closer to the explosion turned to ashes while the others burn. Azaroth looked at it with genuine surprise. He didn’t know it would be this strong and a quick glance at the core explained more, he have used more than half of the essence in his core!
"I might have wasted some but it is worth it. The compressed fire must have been reacting inside with the force I was applying. This fire wave manipulation upgrade skill is definitely a good call on my side." Fire wave itself is what makes other manipulation possible. Not all but most.
He turned to look at how the others are doing and if Azaroth didn’t know better he’ll think they are back to fighting Initiate level monsters. Are the monsters just that weak or are they the ones that are that strong?
He wish there’s other Acolyte Rank Awakeners to fight. Suddenly, Azaroth smiled his wolf smile. "There must be some in that shit of a town. Greytown."
Some of the monsters left others, joined together and ran towards him again. With the headache pounding on his head, Azaroth settled into only using Fire wave.
Meanwhile, Catena was having fun, he’s using the skill that let him share strength with the earth. When the energy flowed into him as he activated the skill he almost groaned at the amount of power and for a moment thought he won’t be able to handle it but his advanced body took it on like it’s nothing.
Just then a yellow energy blasted slammed into his chest and he flinched, staggering back. He expected blood but it was nothing more than a scratch, but that part of his robe above his chest was burned away.
"Oh! Come on, you don’t have to destroy my robe just because you want to attack me!" He quickly forged his body, at least that’ll protect his robe.
Just then a monster with a glowing horn slammed into him, releasing its stored energy but it might as well have been trying to hurt Catena with a blunt nail. It might be caused irritation but nothing much.
"Just die!" Catena brought down his hand on the monster’s head and the skull was bashed in with that single hit. He shook his head. "This skill always makes me covered in blood."
Just as he finished speaking the first wave of the monsters slammed into him, a tide of sharp hooves and yellow sharp energy horn.
Catena staggered then he clapped a monster’s head between his palm. "Time to give earth a lot of blood."
