Chapter 205: Pick you

I’ve changed Vacuus to Azaroth and left everything else unchanged.

Two weeks after they left the warriors behind before they entered deeper into the forest, Blac felt like shit. Literally. He’s sweaty and stuffy, dirty and smelling. He hasn’t bath for up to a week because there’s no available water source and everyday he’s fighting monsters until he couldn’t stand again.

Blac knew little about the outside world since his memories are made fuzzy by Crypt Master but he knew enough to know that he’s never train this hard before in his life. No, this can’t even be called training because all they’re doing is hunt, eat and sleep.

At first he thought his Masters will tire out in just a few days but they just kept going, and going. They didn’t talk and the vibe around them changed in a way he couldn’t put his hand to, they became colder, more serious that even Alex didn’t joke around with anything.

Blac was also sure that in his life he’s never seen such amount of monsters killed before. The funny thing was that the monsters run from them instead of confronting them and they have to corner them to do the slaughtering. And that was what it was, slaughterhouse of monsters.

The four of them are like well oil machines as they just wake, sleep and hunt the monsters. In just two weeks they’ve closed about one hundred and twenty crypts and not accounting the monsters that are already in the forest from previous crypt break.

Blac ached from seeing all the monsters go to waste like that and he has to physically stop himself from trying to bring them back to the villages. But his only consolation about all of this is that the amount of essence he felt was enough to increase his power in the Initiate rank, made his core more robust.

But the four Masters didn’t seem to be getting anything from the hunts. They’re doing it so casually, too casual that Blac couldn’t help his suspiciously and curiosity when he had finally asked them if they were real Initiate level Awakeners or just powered by enchanted tools.

Because why are they hunting monsters for essence if they are using enchanted tools?

Stallus has struggled and told him the truth, they are the real deal. It didn’t shock Blac as much as he thought it would. He’d seen they fight. They are probably more monsters than the monsters they are fighting. Very likely.

That was why Blac is confused about why they are not that interested in the essence of the monsters they killed. It’s as if it’s too small an essence for them to truly bothered with it and with the way the monsters avoided them....Blac didn’t like where this was leading.

Blac thought about all this as he continued stumbling through the forest. He’s patenting the stumbling part but the people he’s doing it for didn’t seems to care. And this was because of the monster they killed the night before!

It was a small monster but the power that radiated out of it was like a hand around his heart. The small monster gave off a pressure essence so strong Blac could only breathe after it was killed by Azaroth.

It was then that the teen smiled for the first time since forever, his red eyes glinted like blood on smooth shining stone. The smile made Blac shivered. "Tomorrow. We will begin the real hunt."

It was then that the ground dropped beneath Blac. He knew now why they were so confident since they came to the village. They are Acolyte rank!

He is still feeling the shock as he followed them. Acolyte rank! They must have been hiding their real strength. Suddenly they stopped and Blac did stumbled this time and he almost went sprawling. "What?"

Stallus turned to him. "We are entering a territory that’s too strong for you. Stay here and wait for us until we come back to pick you up."

"Wait, wait! You’re going? Let me follow. You can’t just leave me here!" Blac couldn’t belive his ears and his voice trembled a little.

Azaroth frowned mildly as if he’s not interested in all this but the fly won’t stop pestering him. "The trees here are big, use them for your bases when you aren’t hunting. You have a darkness technique and if with all this you still ends uo dead then you’re not worth the trouble since you’re weak."

Blac’s face burned and he clenched his fist but he didn’t say anything.

Azaroth already turned and was looking intently into the forest as if there’s something that interest him. He spread out his essence sense to feel out the surrounding, Blac forgotten.

Only Stallus shrugged at him. "If you’re still alive when we are back we’ll pick you up."

"Why do you even take me along!" He said bitterly. He could already picture the monsters after only him now that there’s nothing holding them back. They are in the same rank but there’s so much he could kill!

Stallus smiled. "Why not? We want you strong. And maybe not passing information to Greytown. But forget it, you probably have people still in the squad we left behind to do that on your behalf. We are not angry but if you survive this forest you should keep it in mind that we’ll need information too."

Blac was still in shock as he watched them slowly remove the veil on their. Power rolled off then like heat waves, the air snapped from the pressure and then he watched essence covered them.

And woosh! They shot off into the forest so fast he just saw blinking streaks before they disappeared. Something stirred inside Blac as he felt that power, something long forgotten and familiar but before he could do more than try to probe it something clamped down on him like wet blanket and it was lost.

He forgot about it immediately.

Blac took a shaky breath, he’s feeling even worse now. As if all the monsters in this region are looking towards him. "I’m fuked this time."
