Chapter 183: Interesting
Litha stood, she’s a thin woman with sharp eyes and a cold mouth. "Awakener? Have the rebels spread their hand to the village I assigned to you? Or is it an unknown Awakener?"
As captain she’s quickly eliminating and thinking of what might have happened. Suddenly Kosh found himself as the center of attention as all of them focused on him.
"It wasn’t done be the rebel. That I know but by four strange kids who are using powerful enchanted tools. They already took over the village and won’t pay tax!" Kosh said then he proceed to quickly explain what happened and what he saw.
Litha was shaking with unrestrained joy as Kosh finished speaking, she even asked him to sit and rest himself. It’s been a while since anything exciting happened and she have been terribly bored.
The leaders won’t allow her to attack the rebels since the two forces are in some kind of strange agreements. But to think something might happen from a remote village where their only importance is from fruit.
Litha remembered then a letter that was written from Blac about the village and how some kids took over. She thought it was something like a joke and while uncommon would be taken care of by Blac. "So that bastard decided to not do anything right."
"Good. Prepare yourself. I want squad three and two to get ready, they will follow me to check out this village. While squad one stays here." Finally she has an excuse to get out of here.
The squad leaders nodded and saluted her while they hurried out of the room. No meeting will happen here today.
The leaders of the three squad remained.
"Isn’t this a little too much for a mere village? No matter how much I look at it, it seems like an overkill." Gyus, the leader of squad three said.
"I think what Gyus said is the truth. Even if they have enchanted tools of the same rank as us Initiate level, we are still not the same rank and only one of us will tear them apart not to talk of you, captain." Leader Jim said, the leader of squad two.
Gyus nodded. "That Blac must want to cause trouble for us and that’s why he didn’t kill them! He thinks he’s some kind of saint or something because he won’t involve himself in the affairs of Greytown."
Litha smiled. "On the contrary. Blac loves his peace and would do anything to protect it. This must mean that he couldn’t deal with it himself and that’s why he want us there."
Blac is someone they all knew. He was one of the first prisoners here and it was said that he helped the First Leader to set up Greytown but nobody know for sure. But one thing they are all sure about is that he has some kind of connection with Greytown because he’s the only Initiate rank without much responsibility.
Guys and Jim didn’t believe some kids actually did this. Maybe it’s all a plot from the rebels to lure them in and then corner them. But then is that even possible? The Captain is one of the most powerful Initiate rank in the prison and to kill her will take someone of equal strength.
Guys and Jim tried to convince Captain Litha to say behind and that they will look at this themselves. And in all this Kosh stayed silent unless he was asked something directly. He couldn’t even think of delivering Azaroth message.
It didn’t take more than two hours before they assembled and moved out. The squad only picked five warriors each and with the captains and Kosh, that made it a total fourteen.
It took them two hours to get there and it was because the captain didn’t slow down one bit. They didn’t even stop at any of the other villages.
"So this is the village? I’ve never seen a more poor looking village." Gyus said sincerely, his eyes on the village with the low wall.
Litha grinned. "Interesting. Let’s see what the village has for us."
Kosh shivered as he led them over to the village. He wasn’t surprised to see that the village silent to the point of emptiness, unlike the kids the villagers were shivering chicken.
They followed Kosh to the center of the village and it was there that they saw them. Just like earlier, Azaroth was still at the center with Stallus, Catena and Alex around him like a half circle.
And then the warriors surrounded them in an even bigger half circle. And Blac stood on the room like a bat, looking at everything with a calm eyes.
Kosh didn’t need to explain that this is it. The bodies of the men killed earlier haven’t been taken away and the smell of blood and flesh is still as thick.
The smile wiped from Litha’s face when she saw the way all the warriors of tax collector have been bashed in. Her eyes traveled up to the boy with red eyes and white hair. "Do you do you?" Her voice is as sharp as any knife.
Azaroth took his time to answer. "Not really. I sent Catena of my team to take care of then. They are too weak for me to make a move personally."
Jim and Gyus twitched. This arrogant bastard dare to talk to them this way! How dare this kid! But still they didn’t rush to do anything, they wait for their captain to react.
Litha laughed, her voice the only sound in the village. "Are you kidding me? You killed my men and you are still here talk trash? Are you just stupid arrogant or are you confident in your power?"
And then as if to check herself she scanned him with her senses and frowned. "You really are a novice rank. But for you to show your fangs like this then your enchanted tools must really be powerful." She smiled. Litha loves to loot the people she fights and kills.
