Chapter 176: lots of work

Azaroth slammed the warrior down and he watched the man gasped for breath. "Ugh! Who are you." He’s in his thirties with short black hair.

Azaroth asked coldly. "What is your name."

"I am Blac." He was watching Azaroth intently but without any bloodlust.

Azaroth looked at him with his red eyes and the man couldn’t keep eyes contact. "Blac, do you think you can defeat me in a fight right now?"

Blac flinched. That way the boy in front of him moved was too fast for an Initiate rank like him to even track not to talk of counterattack! That means this boy is of level higher than his own or he has a very powerful enchanted tool. He relaxed and answered the question. "No, I can’t. You’ll probably kill me before I can do anything."

"Yes. But I don’t want your death."

Blac relaxed finally and flopped on the ground. "You want me to serve you. Same as the Greytown. But wait, why do you kill the village head."

When what he head is only silence Black raised his head and saw Azaroth looking at him with steady eyes. He sat up and bowed. "I’ll serve you, Sir Azaroth."

Azaroth didn’t change his expression. "Why don’t you attack earlier? You are the one that caused the shadows right. What were you waiting for?"

"My job is to get the enchanted tools away from you guys." He pointed at the sword at Azaroth waist. "The others will distract you and then I’ll come in."

Azaroth shook his head. "Waste of time." He said, the result of the fight have already been known.

Since Blac was now sure that he won’t be dying he relaxed even further and asked. "But why do you want a village like this? Out of all the villages this is the poorest. If you want resources then you are in the wrong village."

"Then why don’t you leave this village?" Azaroth asked.

"Because it’s safe. With my rank I can stay here and be safe for as long as I want." Blac shrugged.

Then Azaroth turned back and with Blac following behind him they made their way back to where the fight took place. The warriors are on their knees on the ground while the team loomed over them.

Azaroth nodded calmly. "Are this all the warriors in the village?"

Joyce stammered, her heart beating fast. "N..o..oo, Sir Azaroth. It wasn’t intentional! Please don’t kill me! Please! I didn’t....!!"

Azaroth was instantly in front of her and his smooth expression was interrupted by a frown. He said. "I told you not to tell anyone. It was a direct order and you disobey. Your reward is death."

The sharp sound of metal on metal rang coldly in the air and the next instant a head flew and hit the ground with a dull thud while Azaroth moved back to avoid the blood. The warriors flinched and began trembling but all Azaroth did next was clean his sword and returned it.

"I will reward you all according to how you behave going forward. For today you are pardoned. You must obey my every commands or your get your rewards too. You will obey theirs too." Azaroth gestured to the team then he pointed at Blac.

"He will be the leader of the warrior from today. You can all go now and report to the other warriors. Keep doing the same thing you’ve been doing. Stick to the same schedule unless I said otherwise. And no outsiders must hear of this."

They bowed and hurried away, their weapons clanking in their haste.

Azaroth turned to Stallus. "What do you think?"

She looked towards Blac then she shrugged. "They’ll be good for meat shield if we want them dead in three seconds. But with some training we should be able to make them last ten if they fight together in a team."

She continued. "But you know Greytown or whatever is going to know about this? There must be a lot of spies here and he’s the number one suspect."

Blac flinched as all the eyes focused on him. And Azaroth asked him calmly if he is a spy. He paused and picked his words slowly and carefully because he still didn’t know where this young ones come from and their aim. "Sometimes I pass information over to the Greytown and the tax captain."

Azaroth nodded. No other way for a man his level in this prison is just wasting away like that and Stallus quickly picked up on it. "That means you’ll also have some information about them. When are they coming here next?"

"They should be here to collect the fruits in three or two days time."

"So who is the tax captain?’ Alex asked.

"He’s responsible for collecting tax from all the villages under Greytown. Then he’ll send them over to Greytown and let them deal with it. They also act as Hunters that hunt monsters around here and any stray crypt. They are doing multiple work of patrolling ws well."

Azaroth raised his brows. "That’s a lot of work for one tax captain."

Stallus turned to Blac. "Then you’ll delay information. Don’t give say anything to them about us for about two months. Let us settle here first." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Blac nodded slowly with a slight frown on his face. Why are they trusting him so quickly? Aren’t they afraid of betrayal? Or are they that confident? He glanced at the body of Joyce and said. "As you wish." He’ll now have to play it very carefully or both sides might have end up killing him.

But Blac is will also only side with the powerful and right now these kids only have one village under them.

Stallus nodded in satisfaction and added. "Dispose of this body. Use it as fertilizer if you must then send people over to clean the one in the village head building. We will be using it."

Blac saluted and turned to go when Alex’s voice stopped him.
