Chapter 19: Getting Popular
"Farewell for now, Mirael. Thank you for all your help over these past five days."
With just one minute left before the Dungeon ended, Dean finally uttered these words.
He was disappointed that he hadn’t been able to bring Mirael under his command.
This Ancient Angel woman was a highly skilled, powerful and knowledgeable individual.
Still, there was nothing he could do.
The young man had clearly expressed his gratitude.
Percival had long since vanished. He had disappeared to hide within Dean’s energy, that is, within his very soul.
As the remaining minute ran out, the young man was once again enveloped by that white light, and various shapes emerged before him, surrounding him.
Before Mirael could even reply, Dean had vanished just as suddenly as he’d appeared.
The young man opened his eyes in his own room.
[The Cosmic Terror, First Beta, Second Dungeon ended!
Dungeon Title: Etherum City
Task: Survive in the city without any problems for 5 days.]
[Rewards: High-Quality Pill x1, Asgard Auction Ticket x1, Mysterious Locket, 1,000 Nether and Aether Coins.]
The young man exhaled deeply the moment he opened his eyes and then sat up in bed.
Everything had gone well; he’d managed to find himself a good servant.
What’s more, he’d even managed to meet a goddess in person.
He was well aware of what had happened. He’d managed to survive both dungeons without fighting.
Considering what he’d read, this... was truly incredible.
Whilst many people reached the point of losing their lives in their very first dungeon, the fact that Dean had managed to survive was incredible.
"Percival," Dean said calmly.
As soon as he spoke the name, Percival separated from his body and materialised physically in reality.
"Yes, my lord," Percival replied. Looking around, he saw that they were in a rather old, slightly mouldy house.
"Different than you expected, huh?" Dean asked, with a touch of humour.
At Dean’s question, Percival nodded and replied, "Yes, sir."
"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to get us a bigger, better home," said Dean, and then, looking at his ghost, he ordered, "You may go."
As soon as Percival had vanished, Dean went straight to his computer and, in high spirits, began looking through things, trying to see if there was anything else he needed to learn.
At that moment, he came across something he hadn’t expected to see at all:
[Question: Can a Master Dungeon Clearer join a starter dungeon?
Ok, so, let me tell you the thing I have learned recently.
I am a person who played the game from the Gamma version of it. So you may say that I have some talent to survive, some powers that I acquired, and I know how things work.
Still, I have met such a person whose perspective on my reality fully broke me.
In the Outskirt Village, like in Nether, I saw a guy, around 20 to 25 years old. That guy was so rich, like literally, he was able to buy the whole dungeon.
He made every ghost his slave and worker. Didn’t do the dungeon quest yet survived.
Hell, I heard he even made the main dungeon ruler his talk-mate.
I am losing my mind; I am keeping searching for answers, yet I couldn’t find one.
I asked friends and even foes.
I didn’t wanna be found and be in danger...since I do not know if that guy will read this or not.
Still, I couldn’t stop myself anymore. If someone has an answer, let me know.]
The question Dean saw before him, and the explanations below it, certainly described him.
Whoever had written this, and Dean could guess who it was, seemed to have used rather broken English with poor grammar.
The young man had simply realised that the man he’d met in the first dungeon was the one talking about this matter, or at least, that was his guess.
It could be said that he was, frankly, a little worried about his identity being revealed.
The young man wanted to observe the comments posted beneath this post with great curiosity, which was precisely why he’d gone to the comments section.
[Are you fucking stupid?]
[Yeah, like the bloke before me said, this is a stupid post? A Dungeon Master from the Higher Society joining a dungeon for the first time? And it’s someone who can turn ghosts into his slaves and befriend the Dungeon Ruler?
You should come up with a better lie if you want attention.]
[Typical attention whore.]
[Could it be possible? Yeah, by the way, lads, I’m also making Zeun clean my feet every night before I go to sleep.
It could be possible, right, lads?]
As the comments rolled in one after another, Dean shook his head; he was relieved to see that not a shred of information had reached him, and so, smiling, he continued to browse through other posts.
The young man read through the posts one after another, jotting down anything that caught his interest in a notebook.
He carried on with his research until midnight and finally lay his head on the pillow to sleep, with not a single worry left in his mind.
He was thinking about what he would do tomorrow. To be honest, he wanted to move a few items aside at home to try out the weapons he’d just acquired.
That way, he could test his spear and also examine the Moon’s Rope, which he’d never used before.
Still, that was all for today.
Whilst the night had come to an end for him, entirely different events were unfolding elsewhere.
In the north of England, within Durham, in the northern part of the county on the road to Newcastle, the events unfolding inside a manor house were of a completely different nature.
