Chapter 17: You Have 2 Days
As expected, the duel had come to an end in a short space of time.
It was understandable.
The cheers that had echoed through the Colosseum all day had fallen silent for the duration of the duel, and almost no one had made a sound.
It was as if everyone felt sorry for this ghost.
Dean, however, had decided it was time to leave.
He had to find this ghost.
When he stood up, something was handed to him to dry himself off, and the young man dried himself and put on his clothes.
To put it bluntly, he could no longer claim to feel any sense of shame.
After all, he’d bathed with the Ancient Goddess.
’I’ll send someone to get you tomorrow, young man,’ said Nemesis.
Dean smiled and replied, "I’d be honoured, my lady," before leaving the room with the help of an angel.
He still couldn’t believe it.
He had truly met a goddess.
Shortly after leaving the Colosseum, he spotted Mirael in the distance, talking anxiously to someone, and began walking towards her.
When one of the angels standing beside Mirael pointed directly at Dean, Mirael turned her head instantly and dashed over to the young man.
"Oh great Chaos, you’re safe!" Mirael cried out.
It was possible to see that the face of the most beautiful of angels had, as it were, aged, and that there were dark circles under her eyes.
To be honest, it was a rather sad sight.
Mirael had tried to speak before Dean could even reply, when at that very moment she spotted the female angel standing behind the young man.
Mirael was no fool.
She knew whose service this angel, this woman, was in.
An angel like Mirael was a figure of unimaginable power in the city.
Even so, she would not dare to directly defy angels or other beings under the command of a holy entity.
After all, rank was everything in this realm.
"You..." Mirael had muttered suddenly, but the other female angel stopped her, saying, "I have carried out my duty. Please give me the address of the inn where Mr Dean is staying. Lady Nemesis has ordered us to bring him to her tomorrow."
"Ye---yes, ma’am," Mirael had replied. She had carried out the order immediately.
The female angel left the area immediately, whilst Mirael and Dean set off towards the inn where the young man was staying.
When they reached the entrance to the inn, Dean simply turned to Mirael and said, quite calmly, "I’ll wait in the inn’s restaurant. Whatever you do, find and bring me that ghost who lost in tonight’s final duel."
This was a direct order.
To put it plainly, Mirael hadn’t expected to be given a direct order, but she was well aware that she would carry it out.
When Mirael left the area, Dean had indeed gone to the restaurant, ordered a few dishes and begun to wait.
Whilst eating his meal, he was trying to wait for the ’reward’ that would soon be coming his way.
This ’reward’ reached him in no time.
Not even half an hour had passed when Mirael entered the inn’s restaurant, accompanied by the ghost following right behind him.
As soon as they entered the restaurant, Mirael gestured to the ghost right behind her, and they sat down next to Dean.
It would be fair to say that the ghost was genuinely frightened.
His wounds appeared to have been treated.
He was in quite good condition.
Still, it would be fair to say that he was in a rather fragile mental state.
[Supreme Potential]
Dean read those two words, which were still visible on the ghost, once more, took a deep breath, and asked:
"Your name?"
Taken aback by Dean’s sudden question, the ghost bowed its head and then introduced itself as "Percival."
"Good name," said Dean politely. He popped another piece of meat into his mouth and then asked, "Do you know why I summoned you here?"
Percival shook his head from side to side and replied, "I haven’t the faintest idea, O mighty one."
At that moment, the young man looked at Mirael and managed to catch the proud smile on the angel’s face.
"As you can see, I am a human. Since you are a ghost, I’m pretty sure you know what mankind does to ghosts... as well as the others."
When Dean finished speaking, Percival swallowed hard.
To be perfectly honest, someone looking at him might not even realise at first glance that he was a ghost.
Apart from the dark circles under his eyes, his slightly sallow complexion, his hair colour being a bit different from normal, and his teeth being sharper, there was nothing to distinguish him from a human.
Whilst Dean waited for his reply, the ghost’s appearance, combined with his stress and lack of confidence, had left him feeling a little uneasy.
Still, he wanted to trust the system.
"You are talking about... contracts, I assume, mighty one," Percival had replied.
Dean had smiled and replied, "Exactly."
Yet at that moment, the expression on Percival’s face had changed, taking on a slightly darker hue.
"I am... not sure if I am worthy of such thoughts, mighty one."
At Percival’s sudden words, Dean smiled and replied, "I trust my inner voice, dear Percival, and my inner voice tells me that you have amazing potential, more than anyone else."
"I... do?" Percival asked.
Dean shook his head and replied, "You really do."
But he didn’t stop there; he was determined to show just how serious he was about taking him under his wing.
And so, he withdrew exactly two million Nether and Aether coins from his system, placed two banknotes, one million each, on the table, and handed them to Percival.
"You have two days. As you know, we humans have quests and dungeons. I cannot stay here any longer than I am allowed to. If you want to become my servant, my doors are open to you. If not, take this money; it’ll help you get stronger anyway."
