Leon continued, "Let’s call your power, Soul Possession, for now.
The greatest strength of your power is that it doesn’t limit you to a single body. I’m sure you’ve infiltrated the Four Ducal Houses and the Imperial Family, haven’t you? That means your ability also includes body swapping."
The witch’s expression shifted slightly, though she quickly masked it with an unreadable stare. Leon’s words were hitting too close to the truth—he knew too much.
The faces of the Duke, Head Butler, and Cassius went ashen. The reality of what they were up against was becoming all too clear.
The witch’s ability to swap bodies, infiltrate the highest echelons of power, and manipulate the empire from within was a terrifying thought.
Ashok had already warned them about the witch’s powers, but hearing it laid out felt even more sinister.
After dropping the bombshell about the witch’s power, Leon’s tone shifted, his words dripping with sarcasm.
"Though, there’s no need to be scared. Witches are just hyped up; they’re not much of a threat."
He purposely let the words hang in the air, clearly meant to provoke her.
The witch’s eyes flashed with rage at the implication, and she clenched her teeth tightly, her body trembling with the effort of holding back the fury that surged within her. But she kept her composure, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of seeing her break.
Leon, sensing her frustration, pressed on. "As much as the power sounds great, it comes with an equally big limitation... Aren’t I right, Miss Witch of Rogues?"
The witch pretended to breathe deeply hearing Leon, each inhale as if a struggle. Her mind was frantically reaching out, trying to reestablish the connection to her original body.
"The biggest limitation of the power of Miss, here—" Leon gestured toward her, "— is you can only remain conscious in a single body at the moment."
For the first time, the witch’s face betrayed her shock. Her breath hitched, and her fingers twitched, a flicker of realization passing through her cold exterior.
’Though the limitation only remains till the time the Duke’s daughter is in the comatose state.
Once the entity within the Duke’s daughter takes over her, this witch gains a form of enlightenment watching them and becomes the Great Witch of Soul.
In that moment, she will gain the ability to sever a part of her soul and place it into another body, allowing her to be conscious in multiple bodies simultaneously.
The memories of all these bodies will be managed by her master—an arrangement that makes their power nearly unstoppable.
The influence of the two Great Witches will spread out beyond the empire, sweeping across all races, and warping the world in ways that can’t be undone.
In the game, if you don’t kill her by the end of the first year, nothing else matters. The entire run is meaningless.
This chapter is updated by freēwēbnovel.com.
And even if you manage to kill her, she’ll escape... and still, the result will be the same. All will be lost.
The only way to succeed is to find a way to harm her soul before the first year of the Academy ends.
Killing her by conventional means is meaningless.
That’s why the game was never cleared, even after three years of its release.
No main character is capable of a soul-damaging move by the end of the first year, which is why no gamer managed to clear the game.
The gamers also couldn’t even identify who was pulling the strings behind the scenes, let alone find a way to kill her using unconventional means.’ thought Ashok.
Leon now stood before the witch, showing no ounce of pity. "I’m sure you’re still trying to use the life force of this body to reconnect with your original form," he began, his tone almost clinical. "But let me tell you, your attempts are meaningless now.
The collar you’re wearing seals your mana completely, while the space around us is currently being sealed by the Head Butler.
You can say this room is currently an isolated space or perhaps a small separate dimension entirely. Trying to escape from here is pointless. You’re trapped, Miss."
As the witch heard that, a change started to occur in her body. The whites of her eyes turned deep blood-red.
Her body jerked unnaturally, twitching violently. Her eyelids fluttered, and in the next heartbeat, her irises glowed an unsettling shade of yellow, sharp and predatory.
Then, with no forewarning, a sudden, overwhelming force erupted from her gaze—a powerful mental wave manifested physically.
The mental wave, unleashed from the witch’s eyes, surged forward like a tide of pure destruction.
It tore through the floor beneath her and the wall behind her, sending cracks and debris cascading into the air.
The wave was a brutal force, heading straight for Leon and the three individuals standing behind him.
However, as if everything had been alreadt planned, Leon swiftly took out a scroll from his spatial storage and tore it the moment the witch’s body started twitching.
Multiple black-colored magic circles surrounded him instantly, absorbing the destructive wave in his place.
The Head Butler had already erected a barrier to protect the Duke and Cassius the moment he saw Leon tearing the scroll.
"So, you were even prepared for my interference," a different female voice came from the mouth of the witch, containing a hint of curiosity.
"It’s my pleasure to greet you, Great Witch of Mind," said Leon. The black magic circles around him began to shift, their patterns fluid and precise.
Once the defense was successful, they moved with purpose, merging together into a single, more concentrated circle. The single black-colored magic circle hovered around Leon, glowing ominously.
Leon took a few more steps and stood right before the bleeding leg stumps of the witch.
"How sweet of you! It’s my pleasure as well, Hero of Light. Never expected someone like you to come here on the first day of the Academy and even manage to bring my disciple to this state." said the Great Witch letting out a smile.
Her smile, though seemingly polite, only heightened the terror that radiated from her.
The yellow, snake-like eyes gleamed with a predatory shine, and the blood-red hue around them made her appearance nightmarish as if some twisted creature had emerged from the shadows to mock him.
"You must quite love your disciple, going as far as breaking the laws of space using the power of the mind and taking over her body to talk to me. It must be quite taxing for even someone of your status."
The moment those words left Leon’s lips, the witch’s smile faltered, slipping from her face entirely.
The mocking amusement in her eyes darkened, replaced by a palpable venom that seemed to fill the room with an oppressive weight.
The witch’s voice dripped with menace, her fury evident in every word. "You better not mess with me, little brat. Just release this space and let my disciple leave, or else—"
Leon interrupted her with an air of unbothered confidence.
"Or else what? Another attack like the last one? Go ahead, I’m waiting," he said coolly, his eyes never leaving hers.
He slowly sank into a sitting position on the ground, his posture calm and deliberate as if he were preparing for something mundane rather than an all-out battle.
’Do you think I only know the limitations of your disciple and not yours, bitch?’ thought Ashok.
The witch fell silent, her fury bubbling beneath the surface, but no words escaped her lips. She merely glared at Leon, her eyes burning with hatred, yet unable to make a move.
She couldn’t release another attack. Her powers were different from her disciple’s, and she had already pushed too far. Now she found herself struggling to maintain control over her disciple’s body while enduring the consequences of that very attack.
"I would like to make a deal with you," said the Great Witch, grinding her teeth.
"Oh! What sort of deal?" asked Leon making an intrigued face.
The witch’s sharp eyes narrowed as she studied Leon’s expression. Her lips twisted into a sardonic smile upon hearing the response from the young hero.
"Release my disciple," she began, her voice smooth and persuasive, "and I promise the witches will not once interfere with the church or anybody related to the church. I will also provide my aid once at any time of your need," said the Great Witch.
’There it is—the choice that will decide the future of the world and the church,’ thought Ashok.
Leon remained silent, his expression unreadable, as though he were carefully considering every possible outcome of the deal.
Leon turned around slowly, his eyes briefly meeting the Duke’s before he spoke, "My Lord, can you give me one? No, two highest-grade healing potions."
Cassius’s eyes widened, his voice rising in disbelief. "Are you agreeing with that witch?"
However, before Cassius could continue, the Duke raised his hand, silencing him.
The Duke took out two glass vials, their contents glowing a vibrant green and shimmering brightly. He handed the vials to the Head Butler without a word, his expression unreadable.
As the Head Butler accepted the vials and walked to Leon, the Duke’s thoughts lingered, ’Just what are you planning, Demon? Is this why you asked us not to interfere?’
The Duke’s thoughts drifted back to a conversation he had with Ashok when he explained his plan.
