Chapter 73: Classes

"Fifteen marriage proposals, and more coming."

Sitting at her desk opposite four young summoners, Arian’s voice cracked with hesitation as she looked directly at Ethan, the stack of letters in her hands rustling faintly as she shifted through them. Some bore family crests she recognized on sight. Others carried seals she’d have to look up later, minor houses trying their luck regardless of the odds.

"You really outdid yourself this time, didn’t you."

She sighed, holding the bundle of correspondence up for a moment before setting it back down on the desk, her gaze sweeping across the group in front of her.

She had already read through the full brief on everything that happened inside the dungeon, and honestly, she couldn’t say she was surprised by the reaction rippling through the Dracontis family now. Riding in atop a tier 6 mind dragon, one that had terrorized their people for years, tended to leave an impression. Word of that kind traveled fast, and it never traveled quietly.

Even she found herself tempted, briefly, to consider proposing something between her own children and him.

But then she reminded herself that both Hela and Ella carried more than enough talent of their own, standing on ground that could reasonably be compared to his without needing to force the connection through marriage. Neither of them needed a match arranged to secure their place in the world. That thought alone was usually enough to talk herself back down.

"Heheh, my bad."

Ethan shrugged, the gesture casual, almost dismissive. He’d only wanted to test what it felt like riding the mind dragon, and admittedly, show off a little in the process. It hadn’t crossed his mind that these particular people would respond to that display by immediately flooding him with marriage proposals.

He hadn’t even considered it a possibility, honestly. In his old life, showing up somewhere impressive didn’t come attached to strings like this.

"Sigh!!"

Arian rubbed her temples, already working through how to contain whatever fallout was coming. A marriage proposal from a noble family wasn’t something that could be dismissed casually. Rejecting it carelessly risked being read as open disrespect, the kind that could ripple outward into consequences far beyond this room, touching relationships she’d spent years carefully maintaining.

’Do I have to prompt the old man to go beat up my ancestors again?’

The thought crossed her mind unbidden, embarrassment flashing briefly across her expression before she pushed it down.

"Oh, yes. Congratulations on entering tier 7. Also, go speak with Ghost about your dual class technique whenever you’re ready."

Unwilling to work through the tangle of a solution out loud, Arian pivoted the conversation entirely, waving toward the door in a clear attempt to usher the group out of her office before the topic could resurface.

Eventually, she succeeded, herding them all out into the hallway beyond.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"I can take you to the technique hall."

Ella pressed herself against Ethan almost immediately once the door closed behind them, her presence settling in close, insistent, her arm looping through his before he could react.

A wave of awkwardness spread through Ethan instantly, and he tried, discreetly, to gauge Hela’s reaction from the corner of his eye. Before he could get a clear read on her expression, she had already wrapped her own hand firmly around his arm, pulling him in the opposite direction with quiet defiance.

"I’m literally the inner hall’s new admin. You won’t even get through the doors without me."

She said it flatly, tugging Ethan away from Ella’s grip with visible determination.

"That doesn’t matter. I have a permission token. The doors will open for me too."

Ella snapped back immediately, refusing to yield ground.

Caught squarely in the middle, being pulled in two directions at once, Ethan searched desperately for some kind of support from Fin, his eyes darting down the hallway in silent appeal.

But true to form, Fin had already drifted to the far end of the hallway, whistling some tune that suited absolutely no one but himself, entirely uninvolved in whatever conflict was unfolding behind him.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Some time later.

"Inside White Tower, there are around forty classes to choose from."

"These classes range from D rank to S rank, with D being the weakest, and S, well, we only have one S-Rank alternative class available. Very few people ever qualify for it."

Standing inside a massive library, Hela explained patiently, her hands moving steadily across rows of neatly organized books lining the shelves around them, the quiet of the space settling comfortably around her words.

She had eventually won out over her sister, securing the right to bring Ethan here herself to select his dual class, a small victory she seemed quietly pleased with despite not saying so directly.

"You can choose anything within the available range. Just remember, A or B rank doesn’t automatically mean the class suits you best. Focus on what you actually need. I’ll be over there if you need me."

To the right, Ghost’s voice carried through the quiet library.

He was the one responsible for helping Ethan complete whatever requirements came attached to his new class, but first, Ethan needed to make his selection, and no amount of standing around would speed that part along.

Hearing this, Ethan nodded, reaching out to collect a book Hela handed toward him.

It read:

Heavy Knight.

Ethen had made up his mind a long time ago that what he needed was a class that had strong fighting class like Helas black reaper. It allowed her to fight even summons to a certain degree.

If he was going to survive in this world he needed something similar at the very least.

So he skipped all other classes focusing fully on physical classes eventually he was Able to narrow his picks down to a few.

Sentinel Rank A

Black guard Rank B

And Tyrant blade Rank A.

"Hmm, great choices. Let me see" Hela smiled understanding what Ethen’s intentions were at first glance of the classes infront of her.

She could only smile and take them over to Ghost.
