Chapter 744: Chapter 15: Lostbelt—Moon Sea Ascension True Country (Part 2)
The brain-machine interface stealth device is a basic learning device that every citizen of the new era is equipped with. It replaces the old era’s meditation, with higher efficiency to log into and access the virtual spirit network, which is faster and more stable than relying solely on brainwaves to attempt access.
"I can’t stay up late anymore. I must not be getting enough rest, that’s why I’m always having these strange dreams..."
The violet-haired girl sighed softly.
She thought this must be the reason, and she could only give herself this explanation, as she couldn’t think of any other possibilities.
She quietly opened the door and walked out, hearing the sound of the TV from the living room.
Her mother was humming softly, busy with something at the dining table with her back turned to her. A household robot was floating out of the kitchen, its three mechanical arms each steadily holding a tray with steaming food.
Standing still for a moment in the hallway by the door, the violet-haired girl looked toward the living room, watching her mother’s figure. She felt a deep sense of peace and tranquility in her heart, even though it had been this way since she could remember, and it still was now, just the daily routine day after day...
But—
In these countless mornings, the sense of security brought by this seemingly unchanging routine engulfed her.
Just like this...
......
Soon after, the violet-haired girl stepped out the door, waved back to her mother, and walked briskly towards the streets outside the residential area.
Outside, the city lights were sparkling, the maglev train silently sped by on the overhead magnetic tracks above, moving at lightning speed. Many maglev vehicles and small to medium-sized aircrafts moved back and forth, the city’s skyline undulating further away, with integrated vertical architecture forming the grandeur of the Giant City District.
—At the far end of the city, there stood a giant "Tower of Babel" extending straight into the sky, seemingly rising into the clouds, though at a glance, it was impossible to see its end...
—All one could see were the thick alloy cables stretching straight into the sky, tightly connecting the celestial tower above, extending into various parts of the giant city...
This is the central giant tower penetrating all layers of the "Sea of the Moon".
It’s said to shoot straight through from the center of the Moon, reaching the Moon’s surface on either side. Its shape resembles the spokes of a wheel, or like a World Tree sprouting from inside the Moon, its roots spreading in all directions, firmly supporting the composite mechanical structure layers of the "Sea of the Moon".
In every layer and every district of the "Sea of the Moon"—
One could typically see such a giant tower, as they were designated as the absolute centers of each district during planning, with everything being built around them.
This is also the scenery the violet-haired girl had grown accustomed to, the ordinary daily life of the Sea of the Moon.
"Sakura, over here—"
Someone was greeting her from not far away.
The violet-haired girl instinctively turned her head to look, and immediately showed a happy smile. She jogged over quickly, waving vigorously: "Rider..."
A tall, full-figured woman with a cool and elegant demeanor stood on the other side. She was dressed in black clothes and pants, wearing a black blindfold. She was standing in front of a large, snow-white winged horse, attracting the attention and admiring gazes of many passersby.
It’s unclear if the admiration was directed at the Pegasus or its owner.
Phantom Beasts and Divine Beasts, these Fantasy Species, are not something anyone can own, as they are strictly controlled. Such species, under the same regulatory level as Dragon Species, are even more rare than orbital aircraft, naturally drawing attention.
"Rider, why are you here?"
Sakura jogged over, smiling as she reached out to stroke the snow-white Pegasus, which affectionately nuzzled her hand. Only then did she look towards Rider, curiously asking.
"I took on an urgent mission temporarily, so I stopped by to see you guys... By the way, I might not be able to come for a while afterwards." Rider said seriously, assessing the girl in front of her. Although her eyes were hidden by the blindfold, it was apparent she felt a sense of gratification.
Gratification from the girl’s current lively spirit, and from finding a harbor for her soul—
A small, happy dream.
"An urgent mission?"
Sakura tilted her head, speculating as she asked, "Is it about the suspension of the Earth-Moon flights?"
"It seems you guys can guess some of it..." Rider chuckled lightly, readily nodding in acknowledgment. "Not exactly, but it’s indeed very much related... It’s no longer a confidential matter, you’ll know soon."
"After all, this is the big news lately, everyone’s been talking about it non-stop..."
Sakura pouted slightly: "Some classmates in my class even say there’s been an uprising on the surface, that rebels cut off the repeater..."
"How could that be, there’s hardly anyone on the surface anymore. Only some autonomous machinery and synthetic golems are active on the surface, handling repetitive and tedious tasks..." Rider shook her head helplessly, a smile involuntarily forming on her lips, seemingly finding it amusing.
"You should have learned this in your history class, it’s even modern history."
