Chapter 453: Chapter 151: Time to Hunt, Divine Techniques Suppress Acupoints; A Cauldron Seals a Demon Fiend, Spiritual Light Illuminates the Dark Valley
These people appeared to be hunting Mo Daozi.
’The Young Master wants to snatch food from a tiger’s mouth,’ Mo Yunzi thought, ’but it won’t be that easy!’
At that moment, the four people in the standoff began to speak.
From the grudges and vendettas revealed in their exchange, Chu Fan and Mo Yunzi quickly pieced together the situation.
The hulking man from the Demon Race was roaring, demanding the return of a treasure Mo Daozi had stolen from him. It was clearly an old feud.
The seductive woman’s words dripped with bone-deep hatred. It turned out her husband had been killed by Mo Daozi; she was here solely for revenge.
The burly Independent Cultivator with a blade on his back made no secret of his intentions: he was here for the hefty bounty offered by the Demon Suppression Bureau and the Six Gates.
The hulking man from the Demon Race had clashed with Mo Daozi before and had his treasure stolen. While he was likely weaker than Mo Daozi, they must have been more or less evenly matched. Otherwise, he never would have dared to pursue him this far.
The vengeful woman and the bounty-hunting Swordsman, however, had profound auras, indicating their strength clearly surpassed Mo Daozi’s.
Chu Fan glanced at Mo Daozi and saw his already grim expression darken further.
"Heh heh..."
Mo Daozi scanned the trio and let out a hoarse, cold laugh. "To think the three of you would corner me like this. You certainly hold me in high regard..."
"I just wonder... after you kill me, how will you divide the glory, the treasure, and the bounty?"
He was trying to incite infighting with his words, hoping to find a slim chance of survival!
As expected, the hulking man from the Demon Race was rather dim-witted. He roared, "Whoever tries to steal this from me is my enemy! Mo Daozi’s life is mine, and so is his treasure!"
The seductive woman, unconcerned, chuckled lightly. "I only want him dead. You can divide his belongings amongst yourselves."
The Swordsman was far more cunning. He glanced at the hot-headed Demon Race brute and sneered inwardly.
He knew this Demon Race warrior was no certain match for Mo Daozi. It was perfect. He could let him go first to wear Mo Daozi down.
Once the two had fought to a standstill, he would make his move. It was the perfect way to reap the benefits without any effort.
For a moment, the atmosphere between the four Acupoint Realm experts grew taut with tension, yet a strange equilibrium formed.
Mo Daozi appeared to be at a disadvantage, but with two powerful Demon Puppets at his side, it wasn’t certain he would lose if he fought to the death. He had no reason to truly fear the trio.
From start to finish, no one paid Chu Fan, standing by the cliff’s edge, any mind.
To the Acupoint Realm experts, he was merely an ant they could crush at will—less of a threat than even Mo Yunzi in the distance.
Seeing this, Mo Yunzi secretly began forming a Spell, hoping to summon her own Demon Puppets to help at the critical moment.
But a single cold glance from the seductive woman stopped her.
That one look sent a violent tremor through Mo Yunzi’s soul, making her feel as if she’d been plunged into an icy abyss. She didn’t dare make another move.
Just as everyone’s attention was fixed on Mo Daozi, scheming how to carve up this prize...
The "ant" they had all been ignoring slowly rose to his feet.
An ancient Token had appeared in Chu Fan’s hand. In the morning light, the character for "Chu" etched upon it glinted with a forbidding chill.
His clear, strong voice shattered the strange equilibrium. "Chu Fan of the Demon Suppression Bureau! I am under orders to apprehend the wanted criminal, Mo Daozi!"
"All uninvolved parties, leave at once!"
His declaration stunned everyone present.
Mo Daozi, the hulking Demon Race warrior, the vengeful woman, and the bounty-hunting Swordsman—four pairs of eyes, filled with shock, disbelief, or mockery, all snapped toward the young man on the cliff’s edge.
In the distance, Mo Yunzi wailed inwardly. ’My dear Young Master! Why not let them fight to the death so we can reap the rewards? Isn’t that a better plan?’
’By jumping out like this, you’re just drawing all their attention to yourself!’
’They may be wary of the Demon Suppression Bureau, but they’ll never take an unknown, low-ranking Demon Suppression Guard like you seriously!’
And just as she’d feared...
After a brief silence, the clearing erupted with undisguised laughter.
"Young man..."
The Swordsman shook his head, unable to stifle a laugh. "With wits like yours," he sighed, "how did you ever become a Demon Suppression Guard? Can’t you read the room?"
The implication was clear: ’You, a mere brat in the Divine Power Realm, think you can snatch the prize from four Acupoint Realm experts like us?’
’Even if we stepped aside, could you survive a single blow from Mo Daozi?’
The seductive woman covered her mouth with her hand and giggled. "Little brother, this place is dangerous. You should run along now. This Mo Daozi is quite ferocious. One careless slap from him and you’ll be nothing but dust."
"Get lost!" the hulking man from the Demon Race bellowed, his eyes flashing with malice. "Where did this little bastard crawl out from, daring to ruin my plans? I don’t care if you’re a Demon Suppression Guard! Get in my way and I’ll slap you to death!"
Chu Fan silently turned his gaze to the hulking Demon Race warrior.
Those two words, "little bastard," had just signed the Demon Race warrior’s death warrant.
Just then, Mo Daozi—the man they all saw as a fish on the chopping block—suddenly made his move.
A vicious gleam flashed in his eyes as his fingers twitched.
In the next instant, the two motionless Demon Puppets let out an inhuman shriek, their eyes suddenly igniting with an eerie green Demonic Fire!
BOOM!
The ground shattered. Like two bolts of solid black lightning, the Demon Puppets shot forward, a sharp whistle of displaced air surrounding them. Ignoring the hulking Demon Race warrior, they charged fearlessly toward the strongest of the group: the seductive woman and the Swordsman.
At the same time, Demonic Qi erupted from beneath Mo Daozi’s feet like a volcano. He used the ferocious thrust not to engage in a deadly battle, but to shoot toward the cliff’s edge like an arrow released from a bow.
His goal had never been a fight to the death. It was to escape!
And, while he was at it, crush the ant blocking his path!
"You’re not getting away!"
The seductive woman and the Swordsman were far too perceptive; they instantly saw through Mo Daozi’s ploy.
Enraged, they both sprang into action, only to be intercepted by the two Demon Puppets, which were as hard as steel and possessed immense strength.
The Demon Puppets’ attacks were wild and reckless, a flurry of blows that traded injury for injury in a life-or-death struggle. For a moment, the two experts were completely unable to break free.
In a flash, Mo Daozi, wreathed in roiling Demonic Qi, had closed the distance to less than three zhang before Chu Fan.
